Chapter Seventy-Six: Avengers—No, Thanos Legion, Assemble!
Yang Xin finally made his move.
He acted with ruthless determination, unleashing all the chakra he had accumulated since the battle began. From beneath the earth, an overwhelming surge of trees erupted, growing with wild ferocity. In an instant, a forest blanketed thousands of kilometers, water pooled into lakes, and timber heaped into dense woods—a vast forest was conjured in the blink of an eye.
“Eight Gates Release! Gate of View, open!” To perform such a massive Wood Release, Yang Xin threw everything he had into it, fearing his chakra would run dry. He opened the Eight Gates directly to the sixth gate.
“Wood Release: Cutting Sprouts!” Spikes of wood rapidly sprouted from the trees, beginning a merciless slaughter of the demon coalition within the forest.
The depletion of chakra that Yang Xin had anticipated never came. Instead, with focused intent, he sensed the sapling of the Divine Tree within him connecting with the Divine Tree planted by the Supreme Sorcerer Gu Yi. Chakra flowed into him in an endless stream—high in quality and purity, surpassing even the chakra he absorbed and transformed from the Dark Dimension.
This superior chakra supplied Yang Xin without end. Satisfied, he released the Eight Gates Release, yet the chakra continued to pour into him, more than enough for his needs.
“As I said, the flesh and blood of demons are more suitable for the growth of the Divine Tree and the transformation of chakra,” the Supreme Sorcerer remarked, casually plucking a leaf from a nearby branch. “Look how green, how tender this leaf is…”
As the Divine Tree absorbed the demons’ flesh and blood, converting it into high-quality chakra, Yang Xin channeled this power, unleashing the Forest Emergence, which swept into the ranks of the demon coalition, reaping even more souls.
So the cycle continued—a virtuous circle where each fallen demon fed the Divine Tree, which in turn empowered Yang Xin to kill even more.
Yet, despite such devastating techniques, the damage Yang Xin inflicted on the demon coalition was but a drop in the ocean. Just as Yang Xin steeled himself to open all Eight Gates and unleash the “Wood Release: Divine Tree World Emergence,” intending to summon a world-spanning forest, he suddenly sensed a ripple in space and the resonance of the Infinity Stones.
“This war is about to end.” Yang Xin halted his output of chakra, gazing skyward and murmuring softly.
“Let us not squander our remaining strength nor seek empty fame!” declared Tony Stark. Heaven knows how Tony Stark managed to say that in English.
“The battle is over,” said Yang Xin quietly.
“Over? Far from it. There are still countless demons left. The ones you’ve slain aren’t even one percent! True, your technique was brilliant—your forest has dealt massive blows to the hellspawn—but now it’s also a barrier. See? All our firearms are useless; we can’t continue fighting. It’s time for the Avengers to step in!” Tony Stark’s eyes shone with anticipation as he tapped his chest reactor, nanotech armor enveloping him in an instant.
“It is our duty to forge a new home for humanity! Avengers, assemble!” Captain America raised his shield and spoke resolutely.
Yang Xin blinked, instantly understanding the eagerness of Captain America and Tony Stark. It wasn’t born of bloodlust or selfless international spirit, but of politics and interest.
“The war truly is over. Look!” Yang Xin pointed to the sky.
The skies of Hell were forever murky, lacking the allure of the cosmos in the main world. In the haze above, Ebony Maw and the other members of the Black Order began to ascend, supported by Ebony Maw’s sorcery.
“All hail Lord Thanos!”
As Ebony Maw’s voice rang out, countless spatial portals suddenly appeared in Hell’s clouded sky, expanding visibly with each passing moment.
Soon, innumerable interstellar warships blotted out the heavens. Yang Xin squinted, recognizing only the shield generators of the Vanguard and the Chitauri warships; these, however, were only a fraction of the entire fleet.
“It seems Thanos is making a last, desperate gamble, bringing every asset he’s acquired across the universe into Hell,” Yang Xin remarked coolly.
The Avengers all stared wide-eyed. They had underestimated Thanos—his true might was beyond their imagination.
“Thanos Legion, assemble!”
With a resonant shout, Thanos himself appeared before them.
“Open fire!” Thanos commanded. It was clear he had learned from his defeat in Wakanda; this time, he began with an overwhelming barrage.
The armada unleashed a torrent of energy fire—a meteor shower of destruction raining down upon Hell, a spectacle both terrifying and beautiful.
One man’s poison is another’s honey.
The demon coalition, caught in this meteor storm, howled in agony. Most lesser demons perished instantly beneath the energy blasts, while only a handful of mid- and high-ranking demons managed to survive by some means, barely withstanding the onslaught.
Panic seized the demon ranks, scattering them in all directions. Their rout was beyond words.
Thanos watched the fleeing demons, clenched his fist, and roared, “Encircle them!”
With thunderous crashes, the Vanguard’s shield generators fell from the sky, forming a massive circle that trapped the demon coalition within.
“Kill!” Thanos brandished his massive blade.
The beasts were unleashed! The endless horde of the Vanguard surged forth.
“Roar! Roar! Roar!” The Vanguard let loose their bloodthirsty howls. Yet, they did not attack immediately, having learned from their prior defeat in Wakanda.
First, they rolled out their giant circular war machines to devastate the ground, followed by a saturation bombing from the Chitauri in the sky. This pinned down the collapsing demon coalition, halting their retreat. Then, with careful coordination, they advanced step by step, steadily compressing the demons’ last space to survive.
Meanwhile, the ninja forces were not idle. They rushed to the edge of the Forest Emergence and unleashed large-scale Water Release techniques.
These techniques weren’t meant to kill, but to support Yang Xin’s Wood Release.
“Wood Release: Forest Emergence!”
Yang Xin summoned another wave of trees, which, absorbing the water and chakra from the Water Release, grew even faster.
The Divine Tree, too, worked without pause, ravenously devouring the flesh and blood of hellspawn, converting it into even more high-quality chakra for Yang Xin.
Nearby, the forest expanded outward in a perfect circle with Yang Xin at its heart. In the distance, the Chitauri and Vanguard pressed in, step by step, squeezing the hellspawn into a tightening ring.
The Chitauri and the Vanguard were every bit as fierce and bloodthirsty as the creatures of Hell—if not more so. The hellspawn, cowards at heart, realized they could not break through the Chitauri’s saturation bombing, and even if they did, the merciless Vanguard awaited them. With no other choice, they fled into the forest Yang Xin had created.
There, perhaps, lay a sliver of hope. But to face the Chitauri warships or the Vanguard head-on was certain death. The hellspawn, for all their madness and bloodlust, were not fools—those who were had long since become carrion for their kin.
They clung to the hope that the forest might shield them from the Chitauri’s aerial bombardments.
Yang Xin smiled faintly—how naive they were. Clearly, the Thanos Legion’s assault had shattered their will.
So, the demon coalition poured into the forest, while the Chitauri and Vanguard halted about a kilometer from the treeline, organizing their ranks and preparing for the final clash.
But Yang Xin had no intention of giving the hellspawn any further chance.
