Mowen was somewhat disappointed upon hearing that.

After all, his true body possessed two extraordinary items. The Cursed Puppet was only to be used in situations where death was certain, but he still had the Scarlet Ring.

It could enhance his combat ability as well.

But if it was not allowed, there was nothing he could do.

Mowen shrugged and stepped into the metal chamber filled with dream-inducing fluid.

He relaxed his body and emptied his mind. Gradually... his consciousness drifted toward a distant realm.

“He has entered deep sleep.”

Julia, who had been watching Mowen’s condition the entire time, spoke at that moment.

With a flash of light, Miss Freliya appeared beside the metal chamber, dressed in the same tight-fitting dream suit.

The witch’s expression was indifferent as she stepped into the liquid, allowing the pale-blue astral fluid to slowly submerge her delicate, full thighs, white as polished jade, until it reached her neck.

...

When that familiar, pale hand appeared once more and hauled him up from the bottomless ocean, Mowen suddenly opened his eyes and began gasping heavily.

“This sensation really is difficult to get used to...”

He shook his head helplessly.

At that moment, Mowen felt an intense gaze fixed upon him.

Stare——!

He turned toward the owner of the gaze. As expected, it was Fuliya.

The familiar eyes and familiar aura immediately revealed the girl’s identity to Mowen.

What left him so astonished that his mouth fell slightly open, however, was her clothing.

Fuliya was dressed neither in the prison uniform she had worn when they first met nor in the pure-white dress from their second encounter in a dream. Instead, she wore...

A short-sleeved jacket and pair of shorts made of light-brown leather?

Beneath the jacket was a white crop top, exposing her adorable navel and flat stomach. Her perfectly defined abdominal muscles were displayed without the slightest concealment.

The edges of her leather shorts were cinched tightly, squeezing her soft, full thighs until the flesh bulged out.

Fuliya stared maliciously at Mowen, lightly tapping a small leather whip—procured from who knew where—against her palm. It seemed she might lash out viciously at any moment.

“Explain yourself! Why didn’t you enter my dream yesterday?”

“Confess honestly, or hmph hmph, I’ll let you experience the taste of my big whip!”

Fuliya was furious.

What kind of outrageous thing was she saying?

Mowen was powerless to complain. He raised a hand.

“Stop, stop, stop!”

“I can explain.”

He told Fuliya about the upgrade to the experiment. By the time she finished listening, much of her anger had clearly faded, though she still gave a soft snort.

“Next time something like this happens, have her inform me.”

Her? Freliya?

Mowen tugged at the corner of his mouth. “I’ll do my best.”

Judging from Fuliya’s current behavior and Freliya’s conduct yesterday and today, the two women apparently had no knowledge of what the other had experienced.

The thought surfaced in Mowen’s mind, but he did not ask further.

His instincts told him that if he probed too deeply into this matter, he would be the only one to suffer.

Mowen hurriedly changed the subject. “Miss Fuliya, about the clothes you’re wearing...”

“Hmph hmph.” Fuliya planted her hands on her hips and said smugly, “Well? Don’t I look full of youthful energy?”

She certainly did—and she also possessed a strong exotic charm.

Mowen nodded. “What I mean is, can I change my clothes like you?”

He was still wearing the exact same coarse linen garments as during his previous dream journey. They were truly not very attractive.

“Of course... not.”

Fuliya raised a hand and made a large X in front of herself. “Your spirituality is far too weak. Perhaps when you reach the Bronze or Silver rank? Then you can give it a try.”

“I see.”

Mowen rubbed his chin.

“Come to think of it, I haven’t left my room for so long. I wonder whether Lady Sophia and the others came looking for me.”

“I’ll need to find an excuse to explain it.”

“I wonder how Lady Sophia’s research on the Sealed Box is progressing. And what about Miss Anna? The weapon should be finished by now, shouldn’t it?”

Anticipation appeared in Mowen’s eyes.

“Then let us begin—the second journey into the dream.”

Mowen stretched lazily and pushed open the door.

...

Having grown accustomed to the fresh sea breeze, Mowen felt a trace of oppression rise instinctively in his heart upon returning to the sanctuary.

He passed through the corridor, and soon the great furnace was reflected in his eyes.

Compared with before, the empty space around the great furnace now held many wooden crates stacked together. Some of the opened crates seemed to contain supplies resembling canned food.

“Mr. Mowen?!”

Hearing footsteps, Sophia looked up and saw the young man approaching. Delight appeared in her eyes. She patted her ample chest, causing a wave of pale flesh to ripple beneath her clothes.

“I knocked on your door several times yesterday, but you never responded.”

“I thought you had suffered some serious injury during your battle with the Type-Two Military Puppet.”

“If you still hadn’t come out today, I would have disregarded your instructions and broken down the door.”

Mowen gave an embarrassed smile. “I’m sorry to have worried you. I really did sleep for quite a long time.”

“The people from my homeland have rather special constitutions. Injuries can be healed through prolonged sleep.”

“By the way, where is Miss Anna? I can hardly wait to see the new weapon.”

He changed the subject and spread his hands.

“As you know, to a swordsman, a good sword is the finest of companions.”

“So that is how it is.” Sophia sighed with relief. “Little Anna is still in the workshop.”

“Oh, and I’ve made some progress in researching the Sealed Box.”

“What did you discover?”

Mowen’s spirits lifted.

A sacred relic... Just hearing the name was enough to know that it was no ordinary object.

Sophia raised one finger.

“The good news is that I can open this Sealed Box.”

Then she raised a second finger.

“The bad news is that opening it requires one crucial item, and we do not possess it here.”

“What is it?” Mowen pressed.

“A potion known as a fusion agent.” Sophia lowered her voice. “Combined with a secret technique, this potion can effectively dispel the alchemical runes sealing the box.”

“Even during peacetime, fusion agents were extremely precious.”

“After the puppet uprising, it is impossible to find one on the market.”

“To obtain one, we will probably have to try our luck at the Potion Workshop.”

The Potion Workshop?

Mowen nodded and committed the place to memory. “Lady Sophia, what does this fusion agent look like? Is the Potion Workshop far from here?”

Sophia handed him a book. “Here, take this Basic Alchemical Compendium. It contains records and illustrations of fusion agents. As for the Potion Workshop... it is located in the center of Clark Town.”

“I do not recommend going there anytime soon.”

“There are too many patrol puppets in the town center, including quite a few Type-Two Military Puppets. Even with your superb swordsmanship, it would be far too dangerous...”

Mowen smiled. “Don’t worry. I value my life dearly. I won’t go until I’m certain I can handle it.”

“Yes.” Sophia nodded solemnly, her braid hanging before her chest bobbing slightly. “Life is the most important thing. No matter the circumstances, it must always be cherished.”
