After today’s incident, Wen Ganan’s position in the company suddenly became awkward.

Some people, without knowing the full story, attributed her work achievements to Wei Ming’s assistance.

Just before leaving work, Wen Ganan went to the restroom.

In the men’s restroom next door, Manager Zhang and his subordinates were smoking, speaking ill of Wen Ganan. They said that the reason she managed to secure the project this time was probably because of Wei Ming’s help.

One of the subordinates agreed, “Manager Zhang, do you think General Manager Wei would support Wen Ganan to climb up only to discard her afterward?”

“Who knows?” Manager Zhang said bitterly. “I’m probably on shaky ground now. From now on, this Fit will be all Wen Ganan’s domain.”

Click, click, click.

Wen Ganan, unable to tolerate it any longer, grabbed the janitor’s mop bucket, stepped into the men’s restroom in her high heels, and immediately saw the three men standing by the washbasin.

Without hesitation, she splashed half a bucket of water on them.

“If your mouth stinks, then rinse it out!”

After saying this, she tossed down the bucket and left with flair.

A strange silence filled the men’s restroom before an explosion of angry shouting broke out: “Wen Ganan!”

“Boss Wen, drink less. It’s them with the foul mouths; don’t take it to heart.”

Xiao Jiang stopped Wen Ganan, while Chen Ling and Yu Xinran put down their glasses and came over to persuade her.

“Yes, Ganan, everyone can see your hard work.”

The incident before leaving work caused quite a stir. Manager Zhang returned from the restroom and publicly scolded Wen Ganan, showing no grace.

But what angered Wen Ganan wasn’t their gossip—it was Wei Ming.

She thought, Wei Ming had truly changed. He was no longer the helpful, ambitious senior he once was. Today, he put her on the spot just to force her to agree to give him a chance.

Yet he never considered how this would affect her position afterward.

Or perhaps he did consider it, but his own goals mattered more.

If Wen Ganan refused, then the difficult situation she faced now was implicitly accepted by Wei Ming.

Wei Ming was certain that since she had just secured the Quantum project, she wouldn’t resign at this critical moment.

And if she didn’t resign, she would have to continue enduring those rumors.

Was this a form of revenge?

Wen Ganan was deeply disappointed in him.

After all these years of collaboration, she had been conscientious and dedicated, and Wei Ming had never treated her unfairly. They had worked well together—until now.

“I understand,” Wen Ganan forced a smile and ordered another Sunset Glow from the bartender.

Yu Xinran and Xiao Jiang hesitated, clearly worried.

Chen Ling stepped forward at this moment. “Forget it, there are tougher battles ahead. Let her drink. I live nearby; I’ll take her home later.”

The others agreed, so they stopped persuading her.

Inside the bar, the stirring music ignited passions, and the perfectly dim, amber lighting fragmented the space into shards.

Yu Xinran and some young people went to the dance floor, while Wen Ganan and Chen Ling remained in their booth, drinking and chatting, entirely unaware of the pair of eyes watching them from a short distance.

More precisely, those eyes were fixed on Wen Ganan.

Perhaps because the gaze was too obvious, Wen Ganan finally noticed, glanced around, and saw a familiar figure in a nearby booth.

It was Liang Yuxiu again.

This time, the person accompanying him was not Peng Fei.

Wen Ganan was caught off guard; she hadn’t expected to see him here.

Chen Ling noticed too, leaning close to ask, “Who is that? I just saw him staring at us—or rather, at you.”

Wen Ganan pursed her lips and whispered back without reacting to her shock.

“I’ll go say hello.”

She patted Chen Ling, lifted her glass, and walked over to Liang Yuxiu’s booth, raising her glass in greeting.

“General Manager Liang, what a coincidence to see you again.”

Having had some drinks, her cheeks flushed slightly. She had removed her sharp, professional blazer, revealing a delicate apricot-pink silk blouse with two buttons undone at the neckline, forming a subtle V-shape that revealed her slender, fair neck—unadorned and elegant.

It was alluring.

Completely different from the demure young woman she once was.

In this moment of confidence, she was impossible to ignore.

Earlier, Liang Yuxiu had been staring at her, thinking how thoroughly she had transformed over the years—she seemed almost like a stranger, igniting an irresistible curiosity to explore and understand.

With that thought, he raised his glass and toasted from afar, “I haven’t had the chance to congratulate Team Leader Wen on achieving her goal and winning the project.”

Wen Ganan was surprised to hear his words echoed exactly by Cheng He, but she smiled brightly, “Thank you, General Manager Liang.”

“No need to thank me. After all, from now on, Team Leader Wen will be supporting me as the client.”

Liang Yuxiu’s words were like a cold splash of water.

Wen Ganan forced a smile, “Then please, General Manager Liang, go easy on me in the future!”

At that moment, the person beside Liang Yuxiu asked about Wen Ganan’s identity. After a brief explanation, the person invited Wen Ganan to join them for a drink.

Wen Ganan initially wanted to leave, but Liang Yuxiu suddenly teased her with a smile that sent chills down her spine.

“Team Leader Wen, you say you’re going to support me, but now you won’t even give me some face?”

Well then, now that she really was the client’s boss, she had to support him.

“No way,” Wen Ganan joked as she sat down. She quickly messaged Chen Ling that she would return later.

After a couple of drinks with Liang Yuxiu and the others, Wen Ganan learned that he had come to sign a contract with a partnering parts manufacturer.

With someone lively entertaining the group, the atmosphere soon relaxed, filled with laughter and warmth.

Wen Ganan almost forgot about Wei Ming and Manager Zhang’s troublesome matters, her smile growing deeper.

“Miss Wen, you sure can drink!”

Someone tried to pour her a fourth glass, but Liang Yuxiu suddenly placed his hand gently over the cup.

His smile was playful but not sincere, his deep eyes fixed on Wen Ganan. “Team Leader Wen, you look very happy today?”

She glanced at him with a half-smile. “Of course. I won the project; isn’t that worth celebrating?”

“Definitely, but there’s no need to celebrate like this. Drinking too much harms your health.”

Hearing this, the others stopped offering her more drinks.

Wen Ganan, however, grew displeased. She was tipsy and spoke carelessly. “General Manager Liang, are you being stingy or just looking down on me?”

Liang Yuxiu raised an eyebrow. As Wen Ganan muttered unhappily and started to leave, he suddenly reached out and pulled her back.

“Then shall we continue somewhere else? I’ll make sure you drink your fill.”

Normally, Wen Ganan would have refused immediately, but now, under the influence, she agreed without hesitation.

What she didn’t expect was that “somewhere else” meant moving from the bar to the hotel where Liang Yuxiu was staying.

Awkwardly standing at the door, her mind both dazed and clear, she felt she should leave.

But Liang Yuxiu had already taken several bottles of wine from the fridge and placed them on the bar, raising his brow at her.

“Is this enough? If not, I can have more sent up.”

Wen Ganan touched her nose. “It’s enough.”

Yet she still stood there, unmoving.

Liang Yuxiu broke the silence, trying to ease the tension with a half-joking tone.

“What’s the matter? Does getting divorced mean we have to be enemies forever?”
