Chapter Forty-Six
At the company entrance, she was already a bit breathless but still maintained her composure.
Entering the conference room, Wen Ganan saw that the whole team was present, including Chen Ling, who was supposed to be on leave.
She had requested time off last night, presumably to handle some family matters.
Everyone’s expressions were grave, as if facing a formidable enemy.
Wen Ganan pursed her lips and walked in. “What’s going on?”
Xiao Jiang lowered his voice and said, “We’re waiting for General Manager Wei to arrive. Quanten just called him again, and he’s answering now. They told us to wait a moment.”
How serious must it be for Quanten to contact Wei Ming directly?
Wen Ganan dared not imagine.
Her face grew solemn as she approached and sat beside Chen Ling and Xiao Jiang, hoping to get some insight before Wei Ming arrived.
But before she could speak, Wei Ming returned.
His expression was as dark as a sky heavy with storm clouds.
Wen Ganan’s brow furrowed slightly, her heart tightening.
“General Manager Wei...” she stood up, wanting to say something.
But Wei Ming raised his hand to stop her, then pulled out his phone and threw it toward her.
“Team Leader Wen, I need you to explain this to me properly.”
Caught off guard by the sudden confrontation, Wen Ganan looked down at the phone screen — it displayed the launch page of a tech product.
She knew that product all too well.
It was Quanten’s latest model: the ultra-intelligent all-in-one home robot.
However, the website hosting this launch was not Quanten’s.
It belonged to another well-known tech company in Yan City, Xinrui Technology.
Wen Ganan had heard of them, but Xinrui was quite different from Quanten. Xinrui was an established domestic tech firm primarily focused on smart digital products. In recent years, their performance had sharply declined, reportedly due to serious internal issues among senior management.
Regarding robotics, Xinrui seemed to be a newcomer; there had been no prior rumors, so this announcement came as a complete surprise.
But putting that aside, the key wasn’t what Xinrui was doing or releasing. The critical point was that Xinrui’s home robot was nearly identical to Quanten’s in every aspect — design, features, everything.
Wen Ganan was incredulous as she scrolled through the phone. According to Xinrui, they had spent a year developing the product.
If that were true, then their research must have started while Liang Yuxiu was still abroad.
Calculating the timeline, that would have been a year ago.
Wen Ganan hesitated only briefly. “Impossible. A year ago, the CEO of Xinrui was embroiled in a scandal. Xinrui was undergoing its worst crisis and was on the brink of bankruptcy. They couldn’t have had the funds to invest in such a large-scale project back then.”
Early on, when they first secured the Quanten project, her team had thoroughly investigated all domestic competitors in the same field. Any company remotely related was scrutinized — Xinrui was one of them and had been analyzed multiple times.
Wei Ming shared her view and took back the phone.
“So, I need you to explain this to me — and to Quanten. They want to know how their information was leaked.”
“Why? Who said I leaked it? Who’s accusing me?” Wen Ganan found this absurd. She hadn’t done anything, yet she was being unfairly blamed.
She was indignant.
Wei Ming operated his phone again and handed it back to Wen Ganan.
This time, he passed it discreetly, so no one else could see.
Wen Ganan stared in stunned silence for quite a while before returning the phone to Wei Ming.
She said firmly, “That’s even more impossible!”
But Wei Ming clearly didn’t believe her.
After a moment’s hesitation, he called Wen Ganan into his office.
“I don’t know if you know the Xinrui heir or how well you know him. I can’t trust these photos and videos, but a few days ago, Xinrui’s HR conducted a background check and called Chen Ling’s phone.”
“I happened to be there and heard it. I suspected it was you asking Chen Ling to handle the background check. I understand you want to secure your next position before leaving, but Xinrui? Why Xinrui?”
Wen Ganan was stunned.
She understood Wei Ming’s implication.
The leak of Quanten’s product, the Xinrui heir giving her a ride, and now her receiving an offer from Xinrui — it couldn’t all be coincidental.
So Wei Ming was suggesting she had leaked Quanten’s secrets to Xinrui.
Wen Ganan opened her mouth, usually articulate, but now found herself utterly speechless.
Finally, she managed, “Whether you believe me or not, I did not leak anything.”
“Moreover, with so many people on the team, why is the suspicion so precisely focused on me? Don’t you find that strange?”
Wen Ganan gradually regained clarity and calm.
Wei Ming sighed. “I’m not saying the others have no suspicion. The entire team is under suspicion. Quanten has informed me that they intend to file a police report and involve legal affairs.”
“So cancel your trip to the neighboring city this afternoon.”
“We can’t cancel. Quanten’s product will officially debut at the expo tomorrow. With this incident, shouldn’t both sides work together to resolve it? Maybe there’s a way to fix this,” Wen Ganan said, unwilling to let this be the final verdict.
She needed a chance to explain.
But Wei Ming wouldn’t grant it — nor did he want to.
“Ganan, don’t overestimate yourself. This isn’t something you can solve alone.”
“I think what you need now is to go back and cool off — a way to avoid the issue. I will assign others to handle this matter.”
Wen Ganan was naturally dissatisfied. She wanted to say more, but Wei Ming was no longer listening and directly ushered her out.
Knowing he had no final authority, she paused, then left and went to the break room to call Liang Yuxiu.
She needed to explain everything to him and ask for a chance to clarify and make amends.
After all, she didn’t want this project to fail so close to success.
The calls went unanswered one after another until the third finally picked up.
“What is it?” Liang Yuxiu’s voice was colder than usual, with a hint of impatience.
Wen Ganan pressed her lips together. At such a critical moment, and with the severity of this issue, she couldn’t help but feel nervous.
“I’ve heard about the situation, President Liang. I have not done anything unethical. I need a chance to explain and prove my innocence. I wonder if you’d be willing to give me that opportunity?”
There was a pause, then a faint, somewhat mocking laugh. “And how do you intend to prove that?”
