Volume One, Chapter 16: I Have Come to Kill You!
“Hahaha! Such arrogance, Mu Yi! Hurry up and reach the summit—I can hardly wait to witness your miracle!”
Previously, during the first round of the talent test, Mu Yi’s extraordinary performance had left Han Xiaofeng speechless.
But this time, Mu Yi was courting death himself; if he got disqualified, it wouldn’t be anyone’s fault but his own.
“Hmm…”
Yet, Han Xiaofeng’s laughter quickly faded.
Because he saw Mu Yi’s ascent.
Fast!
As swift as lightning!
Graceful as a startled swan, flowing like a wandering dragon!
Mu Yi was hardly human—he was a soaring dragon. His toes barely touched the jagged cliffs, like a celestial dragon ascending through the sky.
Everyone’s eyes blurred; Mu Yi’s speed was simply unbelievable.
What was an insurmountable sheer cliff for others was as easy as flat ground for Mu Yi.
In a flash, a long roar echoed as Mu Yi’s figure, like a rainbow, leapt to the mountaintop.
“Forty seconds!”
Everyone saw the time displayed on the massive crystal platform at the summit.
Only forty seconds!
The record in Shenyin Academy’s thousand-year history was five minutes.
Yet now, Mu Yi had shattered that record, setting it at forty seconds.
“This…”
Han Xiaofeng, who had intended to mock Mu Yi, suddenly felt his mind spin and his face flush purple, utterly speechless.
“Forty seconds! How is that possible? To reach the summit of such a sheer cliff in so short a time?”
“It can’t be! It must be an illusion! I must be dreaming!”
Not only Han Xiaofeng was stunned into silence.
Everyone present—be it the other three elders overseeing the academy’s recruitment or the tens of thousands of examinees—could hardly believe their eyes.
“Cheating! It has to be cheating!”
Already dumbfounded, Han Xiaofeng seized on the crowd’s accusations like a lifeline.
“I hereby announce: Mu Yi has blatantly cheated during the first two rounds. He is now disqualified from the test, and furthermore—”
“Furthermore what? You’re going to arrest me and put me on trial as a warning, aren’t you?”
Mu Yi looked at Han Xiaofeng and laughed heartily. “Old dog, I know you want revenge for your brother and nephew, so you’re using this test to settle personal scores and trying every trick to eliminate me. But you don’t need to bother—if you want revenge, I’m not the one giving you the chance.”
“Come then! Right here on this arena, I’ll give you all the chance you want for revenge!”
With a leap, Mu Yi landed on the third stage of the test—the martial arena.
There were more than twenty platforms here, where those who passed the first two rounds would duel one-on-one.
But now, Mu Yi was already standing on one.
“I, Mu Yi, found the first two rounds too easy, far from satisfying. Today, I’ll put on a show for everyone here: a new recruit will slay a test elder at the Divine Transformation Realm, right here, right now!”
Mu Yi’s voice boomed like thunder, echoing through the mountains and startling the birds into flight.
“What? What is Mu Yi saying?”
“He wants to kill a test elder at the Divine Transformation Realm? Could it be that he intends to—”
The crowd, still reeling from Mu Yi’s previous feats, now faced an even more shocking declaration.
“Han Xiaofeng, what are you waiting for? I’m giving you the chance for revenge—why don’t you come up to the arena?”
Mu Yi stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze sharp as knives piercing Han Xiaofeng.
Han Xiaofeng’s cultivation was at the second level of the Divine Transformation Realm, slightly stronger than Mu Ling and Han Wuji whom Mu Yi had killed before.
Still, Mu Yi was one hundred percent confident that in the upcoming battle, Han Xiaofeng would be the one who died.
“Mu Yi, do you realize what your words just mean?”
Han Xiaofeng’s face darkened deeply, his tone laced with malice.
He certainly wanted to avenge his brother and nephew.
But for Mu Yi to say such things openly was the greatest insult of his life.
He was an elder responsible for recruitment at Shenyin Academy, a powerful cultivator at the Divine Transformation Realm second level.
Now, a mere recruit was challenging him to a life-or-death duel in front of everyone.
If this news spread, it would be an enormous joke.
“Fine, no more pretending. I’ll lay my cards on the table.”
Mu Yi suddenly laughed loudly. “I’m not here to take the recruitment test—I’m here to kill you!”
“So now that I’m here, whether you accept or not, you’re doomed!”
Mu Yi’s hands stayed behind his back, exuding an overwhelming aura.
“I believe everyone here wants to witness a miracle—a recruit killing a test elder right here, right now, don’t they?”
The crowd remained silent.
But in their eyes gleamed an unprecedented yearning.
Who in this world would not want to witness a miracle? The question was: could Mu Yi truly create one?
“Han Xiaofeng, aren’t you coming down? Or do you want me to drag you out myself?”
Mu Yi showed no hint of allowing Han Xiaofeng to refuse.
His voice thundered across the arena, shaking the ears of all present like a mighty storm.
“You little bastard! If you want to die, I’ll gladly grant you that!”
Han Xiaofeng had no choice but to respond.
With a leap like a great roc spreading its wings, he landed on the arena and locked eyes with Mu Yi.
“Old dog, be warned—my fists can kill with a single strike.”
A sharp gleam flashed in Mu Yi’s eyes.
Suddenly, he roared, summoning the Dragon Cry of the Nine Heavens. Golden light burst forth, and in Han Xiaofeng’s vision, Mu Yi appeared with three heads and six arms.
“Heaven’s way, human’s way, the king’s way, the tyrant’s way, the pure land amidst the mortal dust, majestic mountains and rivers—one punch moves heaven and earth!”
The six arms behind Mu Yi simultaneously struck a punch.
Like six golden suns, the attack shot toward Han Xiaofeng like a thunderbolt.
“How can such terrifying martial art exist...?”
Han Xiaofeng was not unprepared.
He knew his brother Han Wuji was at the first level of the Divine Transformation Realm, just one level below him, yet Mu Yi had killed him.
Thus, Han Xiaofeng had already pushed his strength to the limit, ready for Mu Yi’s thunderous blow.
But when the punch landed, he realized he had still underestimated his opponent.
“Return to the One Punch!”
In an instant, Han Xiaofeng’s aura erupted explosively. He stepped forward like a cannonball, a hawk diving.
His fist surged forth like a mountain-smashing storm.
Boom!
Their fists collided midair.
Immediately, one figure spat blood and staggered backward.
“Han Xiaofeng is being forced back! How is this possible?”
The crowd saw that it was Han Xiaofeng retreating, not Mu Yi.
“Hahaha! Old dog, surviving my King’s Way Tyrant Punch without dying is something to be proud of!”
Mu Yi’s King’s Way Tyrant Punch had never missed before.
Both Mu Ling and Han Wuji, cultivators at the first level of the Divine Transformation Realm, had been killed by it.
But this was the first time facing Han Xiaofeng, a second-level cultivator, that Mu Yi’s punch had failed to kill outright.
