Chapter 66: Division
There is no need to overthink it.
Undoubtedly, the advantage the India Team could leverage is the mortician from the original work.
An entity suspected of having ties to "Death" itself.
It is just that...
"Transposed into reality, what on earth is this fellow's identity?"
In the original Final Destination horror film, the nature of Death was never truly revealed. Yet within the infinite multiverse, the so-called "Death" is none other than the Gaia consciousness of the entire plane, rather than a specific deity.
Then, what kind of identity could the mortician possibly possess?
Or rather, what is he capable of achieving?
"What a hassle!"
Qian Gu clicked his tongue and said, "Investigate and check the situation here."
The group dispersed slightly.
Of course, speaking of dispersing did not mean acting entirely alone; rather, they simply divided into three small factions.
A faction led by Zheng Zha.
A faction led by Chu Xuan.
And Qian Gu, who was a one-man army.
Those with insufficient self-preservation means were distributed by number to prevent any unforeseen crises from causing casualties for the China Team at this current stage.
As for Xiao Honglu and Wang Xia, they were temporarily stored inside the Magic Rope space.
...
The morgue.
Qian Gu's first choice.
The entire morgue was bitterly cold, devoid of the slightest trace of living human aura, and filled with the chilling scent of the dead. Corpse after corpse was laid out here—some who had died of old age, some who had perished from disease, and others who had died with grievances unredressed, torn apart.
A timid person would likely cry out in fright at merely a glance.
After all, not everyone could remain indifferent when facing a pile of corpses.
Boom—
A burst of flames spilled outward like flowing water.
Qian Gu was no coward, so he remained completely indifferent, even treating these corpses to a complimentary cremation—allowing them to experience a fiery passion and a corpse-burning party even in death.
Within the raging inferno, not a single corpse could achieve immunity.
These were simply the bodies of ordinary people from a mundane world, naturally incapable of resisting the flames. Before long, they were reduced to a pile of blended ashes, indistinguishable from one another.
"Surprisingly safe?"
Qian Gu raised an eyebrow, not expecting this outcome.
He turned his head, just about to leave, when a voice suddenly rang out.
"Do you truly believe it is safe?"
It was standard American English, delivered with a slight rap-like cadence characteristic of African Americans.
In a space that had just been completely empty, atop those ashes, a Black man dressed in a black suit stood tall. His gaze was profound yet extraordinarily calm, quietly watching Qian Gu in the exact same manner Qian Gu had looked at the corpses.
"The mortician?"
Qian Gu turned around, his eyes narrowing slightly.
There was no mistaking it.
The appearance was an exact match; this was undoubtedly the character who appeared in the plot. However, prior to this, this character had utterly ceased to exist within the morgue.
Had he been present, Qian Gu certainly would not have failed to notice him.
The mortician did not answer, merely saying faintly, "Defying the destiny of death will only welcome a greater demise."
"Are you certain?"
"You are strong, and confident." The mortician looked Qian Gu up and down. "Do you believe you have conquered death? No, that is merely your own conceit. Death is never conquered, nor is it ever halted."
"Yet, it can be postponed."
Qian Gu's posture was relaxed. He flicked the sleeve of his robe while rapidly scanning through every spell he knew in his mind.
The mortician shook his head.
"For the likes of you, the postponement of death is nothing more than a fleeting solace before despair. Predestined death can never be delayed."
Got it!
Fingers concealed within his sleeves, Qian Gu made a subtle gesture and cast a spell.
Then, shrugging his shoulders with an air of nonchalance, he casually remarked, "Perhaps so. But how severe could this crisis possibly be? I hold not a shred of reverence for those unseen enemies. After all, they amount to little, do they not?"
"The Yellowstone volcano and the dinosaur killer—do you think they are—"
The mortician replied almost instinctively, but having uttered only half a sentence, he abruptly stopped, gazing at Qian Gu with a mixture of shock and suspicion.
"What did you do?!"
"Merely a simple spell."
5th-circle, Divination school, Commune with Nature.
A spell that merges the caster's consciousness with nature, extracting information and intelligence directly from the environment.
Yet, due to the extreme repulsion between the Gaia consciousness of the *Final Destination* realm and the Samsara transmigrators, managing to extract even this half a sentence was already an impressive feat for Qian Gu.
However...
"The Yellowstone volcano? The dinosaur killer?"
Qian Gu wore an expression of 'just as I expected.' "As anticipated, it ultimately comes down to this."
The most unsolvable horror film!
Due to the exclusion by the Gaia consciousness, the entire plane was hunting them down, resulting in natural and man-made disasters escalating endlessly. Moreover, the Gaia consciousness cared little for the existence of humanity, and naturally harbored no hesitation about inflicting mutual destruction.
As long as it could eliminate them, sacrificing all of humanity—and even the ecosystem itself—was entirely acceptable.
'The dinosaur killer, huh...'
That thing was genuinely difficult to block!
"Still, I am more curious about your identity." Qian Gu took a step forward, staring coldly at the mortician. "What on earth are you?"
...
The funeral home.
Outdoors.
Zheng Zha's team was searching the surrounding area to see if anything unusual could be found.
Yet, clearly, this funeral home was far too clean.
"What a pain!"
Zheng Zha grew impatient. "Where on earth are those fellows from the India Team? I'd rather have a direct, bloody brawl!"
"I think this is fine."
Mou Gang had a gentle disposition and saw no issue with it. "If we can just coast along like this and steadily survive for five days, that would be wonderful. We'd only need to focus entirely on avoiding accidents."
"That may be true, but..."
"Someone's here!"
Before Zheng Zha could finish his complaint, Zhan岚's voice exploded within everyone's minds.
Bang!
In the nick of time.
Mou Gang's reaction was swift. He thrust out his hand, fingers splayed wide like a palm-leaf fan, before snapping them shut with ruthless force.
Splat—
Fresh blood spurted out between his fingers.
"A hidden weapon? Or gunfire?"
Zheng Zha stepped in front of Li Shuaixi, a burst of dark red flames igniting in his palm as his gaze locked onto the side.
More accurately, a location a thousand meters away.
There stood a muscular, dark-skinned brute who had just assumed the classic posture of an ancient discus thrower. His face was contorted in a ferocious grimace, every bulging muscle radiating an explosive, brutal beauty of raw power.
"It's a pebble."
Mou Gang relaxed his grip, revealing a stone that had pierced clean through his gauntlet, nearly driving straight through his palm.
His expression shifted, and he said gravely, "That fellow possesses immense strength."
"Uh..."
Zheng Zha watched the bulky muscle-man rapidly closing the distance at a speed of over a hundred meters per bound, his mouth twitching. "I can see that. His strength is certainly massive."
"Prepare for combat!"
Zhan Lan drew her submachine gun, her gaze narrowing as her psychokinesis surged forth.
Then—
She pulled the trigger!
Bullets unleashed in a torrent, weaving into a tempest under the guidance of her psychokinesis, hurtling directly toward the black muscular giant who had just materialized on her mental scan.
