Volume 1, Chapter 40: The Vanishing Woman (19)
"Shanbao, follow me! Qingda, command everyone to take their positions!" Du Yuesheng reached into his coat and pulled out his Luger pistol. Yuan Shanbao immediately stayed close by his side, a gleaming steel blade now in hand.
The once omnipotent Grand Preceptor was dead. Now, he was merely Chu Liangchen, an idle man without the capacity to concern himself with the great affairs of the world.
"Why are you staring at me? If you have something to say, say it," Shen Yunyou wiped the corner of her mouth, her tone sharp and unyielding.
However, Mu Wanqing's figure had already vanished from Guixin's sight. Guixin sighed, hoping Mu Wanqing would not return too late, lest she disappoint the Prince.
Shen Yunyou listened to Ye Yunqian's words and offered a faint smile, her heart now clear on where Ye Yunqian stood.
He had aged significantly. Though one could see traces of careful grooming—the meticulously smooth hair, the white shirt, the black trousers, and a chin shaven clean—it could not hide the desolation radiating from his entire being.
Huo Huan kept his head bowed, no longer knowing how to explain himself. He wondered if, had he not regained his memories today, he would have chosen to run away with Chen Danqing.
Though he felt his internal energy was exhausted and his right arm was too heavy and sluggish to lift, Ye Chen refused to let his life end here.
Zhang Yang shook his head, snapped open his folding fan, and with a thick-skinned indifference, watched the sword-carrying man fight without even a blush.
Ouyang Yingqi walked with light, soft steps down the hospital corridor. Passing the office of the doctor treating Qian Mo, she was surprised to find Qian Mo's parents inside.
The exquisite dice-shaped pastry was cool to the touch. Upon biting through the crisp outer layer, a wave of milky fragrance emerged, melting silkily on the tongue, accompanied by the soft, sweet aroma of red beans.
Early the next morning, as Gao Shun’s thousand-man unit departed, the main army had yet to arrive. Dong Zhuo left Taishi Ci and five hundred soldiers to guard the South Gate while he, accompanied by Xu Chu and two or three hundred personal guards, took command of the North Gate.
"I believe so. Look at the rust here," Mo Mo said, pointing to a spot on the ornament for Ye Xuantian to see.
After they had eaten and drunk their fill, Mo Mo and the others left the tavern. A large man came swaying toward them. "Oh my."
The wooden coffin in his hand suddenly opened again. The three-inch-long ghostly shadow inside flickered before Xie Bangui’s eyes for a mere moment before transforming into a streak of red light that shot directly into the center of his forehead.
Upon hearing Bu Jingyun’s cold, emotionless words, Chu Chu’s eyes turned red. She looked at him with tear-filled eyes, her heart brimming with grievances.
The two sides collided, producing a thunderous roar. Bu Jingyun and Nie Feng were both jolted back several steps. Once Nie Feng steadied himself, he immediately unleashed the Wind God Leg, arriving before Bu Jingyun to stand in front of Xiong Ba.
"Don't do anything foolish." Ye Xingtian finally looked back at Gu Yue, his eyes carrying a warning.
The martial artists watching from the sidelines were in an uproar, whispering heatedly. Though they could not fathom Ye Feng’s intentions or why he would say such things, it did nothing to diminish the explosive impact of his words.
"Crown Prince Mo Ran, those two are my attendants. Release them first, then come inside and we shall talk," a voice called from within.
That night, he felt a stifling agitation in his heart that bordered on madness. Gazing from afar at the capital, which stood like a prison in the darkness, he felt for a moment that he could not even breathe properly.
Someone finally recognized the sign, and the words "Blood Moon" were cried out. By the time the second person shouted it, their voice had shifted into a panicked, discordant pitch.
Meng Qitian smiled faintly; he had no intention of hiding anything from Honglian. Intelligent as he was, how could he not know where Honglian’s weaknesses lay? How could he not know exactly what would cause her the most pain?
It must be said that the allure of beauty remained immense; after a chorus of drooling, everyone began to place their bids.
In this regard, Liu Yi was no match for Song Mi, so he could only look helplessly at Shi Feng or tease Liu Che on the side.
Some lost in indulgence, some shouting with jugs in hand, some laughing heartily, some snoring deeply... everyone was so intoxicated by their own emotions that they could not pull themselves away. A streak of white light suddenly entered the realm from the heavens, yet no one noticed.
Princess Yingye was the most powerful princess in the empire, surpassed only by the Emperor’s sister, Princess Xihe. Born to the Empress, she was the Emperor’s most favored daughter.
Lissandra’s shoulders slumped, her arms hanging listlessly at her sides. Her tangled, pale hair drifted before her aged face, making her look like a withered corpse.
"Come now, slowly. Feet a little further apart, that's it." Kong Moran was a very capable teacher, holding one of Gu Qingcheng’s hands tightly as he guided her movements, explaining the essentials of the technique as they went.
"You are smart—smarter than all of them. I respect that you are still putting on a brave front even at a time like this!" Dong Yunhui remarked.
Everyone was stunned by this scene, and even the sect leaders and masters watching from the high platform stood up in shock, gazing over.
Zhao Hao put away the other nine volumes of the Emperor Scriptures. The Great Emperors of the *Shrouded Heavens* world were at the same level as the Immortal Emperors of *Emperor's Domination*. However, the Immortal Emperors in *Emperor's Domination* varied in rank; the strongest among them were equivalent to the early stage of the Supreme Saint level, matching the Red Dust Immortals of *Shrouded Heavens*.
Having said this, J.P. Dolan raised his glass to signal the group, and the others followed suit, indicating they had no objections.
Theresa looked at Cole Satter with a half-smile, then pulled a stack of cash from inside her lingerie and handed it to him.
It was precisely because of this that, as time began to fade the memory, the three major awards he swept at the Golden Disc Awards—marking him as one of the event's biggest winners—brought the name Bai Majun back into the public eye, undisputed and once again a topic of widespread discussion.
