Volume One, Chapter 28: A Miracle Descends—He Comes from the Underworld!
She felt a sudden, ridiculous urge to laugh. The crowd huddled in the corner, terrified and unable to even save themselves, could hardly be expected to risk their lives to rescue her. Yet, at that very moment, as Lin Ruoxue and the Black Widow passed row after row of seats, the Black Widow tilted her head as if sensing something. Her gaze fell inadvertently upon a figure slumped casually in a chair, an arm draped loosely over his leg. He wore a silver mask that obscured his face, but through the eye-slits of that mask, the Black Widow caught sight of a pair of pupils as brilliant as the stars. She was completely drawn in, her pace slowing involuntarily.
Then, Su Ming slowly stood up and stepped out. When he was less than ten meters away from the Black Widow, she snapped back to reality, her beautiful eyes filled with shock and panic. She instinctively stepped back, and two combat knives materialized in her hands. She felt a level of danger she had never known before, radiating directly from the man before her. She had been hypnotized—just by glancing at him, she had fallen into a trance. She, a cold-blooded, merciless killing machine trained to perfection! How could she be hypnotized? Yet, it was precisely because of this that she realized how bizarre and terrifying this man truly was.
"Dark Church, Left Protector, Black Widow?" Su Ming walked forward, stopped, and asked in a cold voice.
"Who are you?!" The Black Widow, who had maintained a calm and indifferent facade from the beginning, now sounded like a cat whose tail had been stepped on; her voice turned shrill.
"You are not worthy of knowing."
"Wait—that's not right. Have you forgotten the Demon-Suppressing Monument standing on the borders of the Nine Provinces of Huaxia, where gods and ghosts are forbidden to pass?" Su Ming said in a chilling tone. "It seems you haven't taken that monument to heart at all."
"You actually know about the Demon-Suppressing Monument? It seems you are a person of some consequence. Speak! Who are you?" The Black Widow was nervous now, her hands gripping her weapons repeatedly, her palms slick with sweat.
"Forget it. For the sake of Bishop Andrew, I will spare your miserable life. Get out." Su Ming had never been this merciful. Years ago, his master had sent him out of prison to hone his skills across the four Western heavenly regions, executing arduous missions. It was during that period that he forged a will of steel. His arrival had disrupted the balance between the four heavenly regions, sparking a bloody storm that led to the fall of hundreds of god-tier legions. Sometimes, the only thing that could buy his mercy was human connection, and Andrew had helped him once.
"Hmph, ignorant wretch! Don't think that knowing a few secrets can scare me!" the Black Widow hissed. "Andrew was slaughtered by me long ago. In our lineage, one must kill their master to finish their training!"
"So, stop playing these mind games in front of me—go to hell!"
The Black Widow suddenly hurled her dagger. At the same time, she thrust her hands back and lunged forward like an arrow released from a bow, piercing the air with blinding speed. She covered the ten-meter distance in a blink, and even more terrifyingly, she outpaced the very knife she had thrown. As Su Ming dodged the blade, she caught it in mid-air, her hands weaving a cross of cold light. Her movements were dizzying, far too fast for an ordinary human eye to track.
Lin Ruoxue, standing nearest, witnessed the entire process. Had she not seen it with her own eyes, she would never have believed it possible. It was more exaggerated than any action film, and the duel between the two, with its ruthless, no-nonsense lethality, was heart-stopping. The tension in the room reached a breaking point. Lin Ruoxue even forgot her own precarious situation, her focus entirely captured by the man in the silver mask. She had never imagined that a fantasy could come to life. As a female CEO in Asia, a titan of industry in Longzhou, and the heiress of the Lin family, she found herself completely captivated by this radiant man. Her heart stirred, and feelings she had never experienced before began to flow within her.
"Crack!"
Suddenly, Su Ming retaliated. After remaining on the defensive, the moment the Black Widow’s twelve-hit combo ended, he curled his finger and struck her shoulder with force. A sickening sound of bone breaking echoed through the room. The Black Widow’s expression shifted violently as one of her arms went limp and useless.
"If you fight any longer, I will dismantle every bone in your body and feed them to the dogs," Su Ming said, his voice impatient.
"What... what are you?" The Black Widow gasped for air, utterly exhausted. She was filled with horror; she had lost all hope against this mysterious man.
"Too much talk."
Su Ming, having lost his remaining patience, waved his hand. A black dagger erupted from his palm like a bolt of lightning. In that moment, the people cowering in the corner let out a cry; they felt as if a flash of thunder had passed. The Black Widow had anticipated the move and sidestepped, but the bolt of light vanished and reappeared, piercing straight through her chest. Blood sprayed as a violent force slammed her body against the ground, dragging her for a long distance before she finally came to a halt.
"Pfft!" The Black Widow’s face turned deathly pale. She coughed up blood, her breathing growing shallow. Su Ming shook his head helplessly and walked up to her.
"The Dragon Fang Dagger!"
"No... impossible. How could you have the Scarlet Refining divine weapon of Taiyi, the Asura of the Southern Region?!"
As the Black Widow gritted her teeth and pulled the dagger from her chest, seeing the strange blade markings and the black flame insignia, her heart nearly exploded. She stared with wide, buzzing eyes, terrified out of her wits.
"Is there any possibility that I am... the very Asura of the Southern Region you speak of?" Su Ming asked, hands in his pockets, leaning forward with a mocking tone.
At that moment, the Black Widow realized the truth. A smile crept across her terrified face. "So, you didn't die! You never went missing!"
"The Asura of the Southern Region, Taiyi, has been in a small city in the Nine Provinces of Huaxia all this time? Hahaha! Who could have guessed? Who could have possibly guessed!"
"The four heavenly regions, thirty million people—you’ve fooled them all!" The Black Widow cried out, her voice filled with sorrow and self-mockery. Even as Su Ming approached, she made no move to defend herself.
"Too much talking. It’s time to go," Su Ming said, ignoring her madness, and prepared to strike.
"No, noble Master Asura, I am one of your subjects!"
"The entire Black Umbrella Group, the Caesar family—they are all your personal wealth! You cannot kill me..." the Black Widow pleaded, her face full of the desperate will to live.
"Too late." Su Ming shook his head, grabbed her by the throat, and gave a sharp twist.
*Crack!*
The sound of bones breaking was gruesome. Blood spilled from the corners of the Black Widow’s mouth. Her face was etched with resentment and unwillingness. "Why... I am your subject..."
"Why..." she asked, using her final strength, before her body went limp and she expired.
"Because you talk too much. I was going to spare you, but you insisted on challenging my patience. If I didn't kill you, it would be an insult to the time I wasted."
After disposing of the Black Widow, Su Ming shrugged, stood up, and walked toward the exit, looking like a traveler from hell. As he passed by Lin Ruoxue, she stood behind him, words catching in her throat, unable to speak.
