Volume One, Chapter 59: The Arrival of Ghostblade Robin!
“Ah, don’t even mention it, Your Majesty. Our Cross Association stationed here in Longzhou was ambushed last night. The entire branch was taken down.”
“Twelve Earl-level hunters and three Duke-level hunters—all perished.”
“Not a single survivor. It was a massacre. I’m so scared that I dare not show my face now. I’m preparing to flee and lay low for a while. If it weren’t for your orders, Your Majesty, I would have left Longzhou long ago.”
The Godfather spoke anxiously, clearly terrified.
“What happened? Explain it clearly!”
Upon hearing this, Su Ming was taken aback and asked, “Well, it’s because of the last mission we carried out. We killed the Black Widow and the Shadow Warrior, which led the demon legion to send a demon lord, Robin the Ghostblade, commanding the Red Scorpion Guards to Longzhou for revenge.”
“Our Cross Association stationed here in Longzhou has been destroyed. Now I can only take refuge next door in Ningzhou.”
“Your Majesty, there’s still 300,000 in commission from last time. I’m temporarily diverting it to save my life. Once I get through this crisis, I’ll return it to you!”
The Godfather pleaded earnestly.
“Sword Saint Robin? He scared you this much?”
Upon hearing the name Robin the Ghostblade, Su Ming showed a mocking smile. He thought the Godfather was far too timid, jumping at shadows as if the overlords of the Four Great Domains had descended upon Longzhou.
“My goodness, isn’t that terrifying enough?”
“Robin is a prince-level hunter, and he’s on the brink of reaching king-level. If he kills just one king, he will be promoted successfully and can issue a world announcement!”
“So, Your Majesty, you must be careful. Their target this time might not even spare you!”
After saying this, the Godfather was about to leave.
“Wait a few days before you go. Maybe the crisis will be resolved within that time.”
“I see you’ve worked hard managing the Cross Revenge Association here in Longzhou; I’ll help you this once!”
Su Ming said calmly. He wasn’t being kindhearted; rather, having the Godfather around made intelligence gathering and handling affairs much easier. This was Su Ming’s principle: trouble once, peace forever.
“Your Majesty, is that true? You’ll help me for free?”
“I have invested over ten million in the Longzhou Cross Revenge Association and brought in several Dukes to hold station. Now it’s all destroyed!”
“I’m so enraged!”
The Godfather wiped his tears, looking at Su Ming gratefully.
“Of course, as long as you help me with things in the future.”
“Robin? Leave him to me!”
Su Ming said with a cold tone.
“That’s wonderful, Your Majesty. If you can help me recover these losses, I’ll serve you like a beast of burden forever!”
Hearing Su Ming’s promise, the Godfather was moved to tears and opened his arms, about to embrace him, but Su Ming dodged.
“Enough. First, investigate their location and tell me!”
“I’m off now.”
Su Ming then walked toward the grand banquet restaurant opposite...
At this moment, on the third floor of the grand banquet hall, the restaurant bustled with people. A seafood buffet, exquisite dishes, fine wines—all being served. At the center stood four large tables, laden with sumptuous feasts, styled in traditional Chinese dining fashion.
At the head seat of one table sat a lean middle-aged man. Though slight in build, he radiated a commanding presence without anger. He was spinning a string of Bodhi beads in his hand, smiling as he chatted with guests toasting him. This was Chen Yingjie, the second head of the Chen family in Longzhou.
Two girls knelt on the floor, polishing his leather shoes. Everyone knew Chen Yingjie was fond of extravagant footwear and even carried servants around to keep them spotless. It was said his collection numbered in the thousands. The pair on his feet alone cost hundreds of thousands.
Beside him sat Chen Xiangnan, his third younger brother.
“Second Master, on this joyous day, we have to drink a few more cups!”
“Calm down. The Second Master just returned from the South Domain. He’ll probably go back soon to show affection to his wife. Don’t make her wait too long.”
“Hahaha, the Second Master’s health can handle it!”
“Phew, but the wife’s wrath? We can’t bear that!”
“Master Chen, you must have brought back some good business channels this time!”
“If you secure that land, the Sky Tower project—the landmark of Longzhou—will fully launch. Then, hah, Master Chen will be the richest man in Longzhou!”
“The Chen family will inevitably trample the other two clans beneath us. We’ll be first and foremost!”
The group of executives surrounded Chen Yingjie, chatting animatedly and showering him with praise.
“You guys finally talked about something serious.”
“The land deal is about to be secured. Everyone can rest assured to finance and invest!”
“This time, I returned to develop real estate. I have some inside information. After dinner, let’s find a clubhouse so I can share it with you.”
At Chen Yingjie’s words, everyone’s faces lit up with anticipation and excitement.
Chen Yingjie turned to Chen Xiangnan.
“What’s the situation on your end? You still haven’t secured the land?”
“If the residents refuse, then use money to smash through. I want that land secured before the end of the month!”
Chen Yingjie’s expression turned grave, his tone icy, clearly angry.
“Second Brother, I’ll handle it well. Rest assured!”
“After your birthday, wait for my good news!”
Chen Xiangnan replied firmly but felt some tension inside.
“Mm, get it done soon. The pressure from Tianding Group is heavy. We absolutely cannot let them snatch this land away.”
Chen Yingjie frowned and added, “If those residents resist, use underworld forces. Kill whoever must be killed!”
A cruel gleam appeared on Chen Yingjie’s face.
“I understand, Second Brother. Don’t worry about this matter. But there is bad news—you must stay calm when you hear it!”
“Eldest Brother’s son, Chen Liang, is in trouble.”
This news had kept Chen Xiangnan sleepless for days. Now that his second brother was back, he hoped for relief. Chen Liang, the eldest brother’s son, had been killed. The enemy had yet to be dealt with. If Eldest Brother found out, it would be disastrous.
“How could this happen?”
“Have you found the culprit? Who dares to lay a hand on our Chen family?”
Chen Yingjie’s face turned dark with rage and grief, his eyes red. His first thought was of the Ye and Lin families, the Chen family’s mortal enemies in Longzhou.
“We investigated. It’s not the Lin or Ye families. It’s the sons of two old ghosts from the land’s trailer homes. They were released from inside!”
“But tonight, I already instructed the Fusang Ghost King to capture that little punk alive and bring him before Eldest Brother. Hopefully, Eldest Brother will… spare him.”
Thinking of Eldest Brother’s ruthlessness, even his own brother was unnerved.
