Chapter 55: Don’t Put on a Front in Front of Me, Alright?
After Jessie finished speaking, she took the lead and walked out. The two girls who had come with her hesitated, wanting to stay but not daring to, and in the end, followed her out. They were probably her so-called “plastic besties.”
Seeing the three of them leave, the remaining classmates began whispering among themselves, their faces showing clear disgust. They thought the Byers brothers were truly tactless—despite their humble backgrounds, they insisted on attending the party, and in the end, even drove Kardashian away.
Several of the boys, in particular, watched Lin Xiao with unfriendly eyes, clearly intent on teaching him a lesson. If it weren’t for Stephan’s presence, they would likely have already acted.
Watching the girls head toward the main entrance, Stephan’s expression finally changed. He looked visibly displeased, struggling to contain his anger. He turned to Lin Xiao and apologized, “I’m sorry for putting you in this awkward position. It was thoughtless of me to invite them. I promise this will never happen again.”
Lin Xiao shrugged indifferently. If it hadn’t been for the sudden magic disturbance, he wouldn’t have come to the party at all. Even though he now possessed extraordinary powers, their identities were still ordinary—worlds apart from these true scions of wealth.
Suddenly, a piercing scream rose from the direction of the main gate. Stephan’s face changed dramatically; he leapt toward the sound with astonishing speed, fast enough to leave Bolt eating dust behind him.
Lin Xiao glanced at Will but didn’t make a move, wary it might be a deliberate distraction. Whether others lived or died was none of his concern—so long as nothing happened to Will.
Soon, Stephan returned, but this time he was backing away slowly.
From the darkness strode three tall white men, each holding a girl by the arm—the very same trio who’d just left, including Jessie.
“Stephan, thank you so much,” one of them said mockingly. “Knowing we’d be here tonight, you prepared such sweet blood for us. You really are a good brother.”
“Damont, it’s you! Weren’t you vacationing in Europe? How are you here?” Stephan asked, clearly surprised—so it wasn’t a setup, after all.
This young white man named Damont was even taller than Stephan, nearly as tall as an NBA player. His massive hand gripped Jessie’s neck as effortlessly as if she were a chick.
“My dear brother, I missed you so much I just had to rush back. And you’ve been busy—this manor is magnificent! I love it,” Damont drawled, sticking out his tongue to lick Jessie’s face and deeply inhaling her scent as if savoring a rare delicacy.
“Who the hell are you? Let Jessie go! Do you know who we are?” A tall, handsome boy stepped forward, pointing threateningly at Damont.
Lin Xiao recognized him: Conrad McQueen, the school’s star, captain of the football team. It was said he’d already been admitted to the University of Alabama without an entrance exam, destined to play in the national championships.
Damont turned his gaze on him, provocatively licking his lips, completely unfazed.
McQueen strode forward, intent on playing the hero. He was tall—over six foot two—and weighed nearly two hundred pounds, a powerhouse on the field who often sent opponents flying.
He was confident he could save this beautiful, wealthy girl and win her heart, setting himself up for a bright future.
Approaching Damont, McQueen reached for his arm, his grip powerful—over 120 kilograms, almost three times that of an average person.
“Oh, interesting—you want to play the hero. But do you really have what it takes?” Damont replied with a half-smile, grabbing McQueen’s hand with his free one. The two locked grips in midair.
“Conrad, crush him! Show him what you’re made of!” McQueen’s two companions cheered him on, full of faith. After all, during a county match celebration, McQueen had single-handedly beaten five local thugs and even shattered their shoulder bones with his bare hands—he was a giant among men.
McQueen used all his strength, his veins bulging, face flushing red, but Damont stood motionless, yawning as if bored. He shook his head, saying, “Such weak humans. You’re supposed to be among the best of your kind, yet your power is so feeble. I can’t fathom how your species rules this world.
“We should be the true masters. You lowly humans deserve to be nothing more than our blood livestock, kept as pets.”
Before his words even faded, he squeezed, and the sound of cracking bones—like beans exploding in a pan—sent chills down everyone’s spines.
McQueen screamed in agony, clawing desperately at Damont’s hand, but the man’s grip was harder and stronger than steel; he couldn’t budge it at all.
Damont smiled slightly, yanked McQueen toward him, and sank his fangs into the side of the boy’s neck.
Blood spurted like a fountain, shooting into the air. The pressure was so great that nearly all of McQueen’s blood was drained in an instant.
The girls shrieked in terror, while the boys turned deathly pale and weak-kneed. They might be from noble families, but that didn’t mean they weren’t afraid—especially when faced with such blatant bloodsucking.
“They’re vampires!” Lin Xiao suddenly understood, glancing at Stephan. Many mysteries were now resolved. As expected, this handsome man was a vampire too. But why the special interest in him?
“Such exquisite flavor! Athletes have the sweetest, most delicious blood. If I weren’t in such a hurry, I’d want to keep you as my personal blood donor,” Damont said, tossing aside McQueen’s drained corpse. Blood stained his lips, his eyes glinting with crimson hunger as he surveyed the others like livestock awaiting slaughter.
The other two vampires also tore open their captives’ necks, drinking greedily.
Stephan’s face contorted with pain, yet he could do nothing to stop them. The remaining boys and girls turned and fled in terror. Damont made no move to stop them; instead, he laughed, “Run! Run as hard as you can. The faster you run, the sweeter your blood. I savor that taste the most.”
“Oh? Why aren’t you running?” Damont asked, noticing Lin Xiao still standing still. He scrutinized him, eyes suddenly lighting up with wild delight. “You are… someone with a special constitution? Wonderful! Absolutely marvelous.
“Stephan, I adore you! You managed to find such a rare delicacy—no wonder you threw this party to lure him here.
“My dear brother, why didn’t you tell me sooner? Luckily, I came uninvited tonight, or I would’ve missed such a treat.
“No, we can’t drain this one dry at once. We must keep him, let him provide us with fresh blood every day. Just imagining such a life—I can hardly wait!”
With that, he pointed at Lin Xiao and ordered the other two vampires, “Go capture him. Remember, do not harm our precious pet—he’s the guarantee of our future happiness. Not a single hair on his head is to be harmed.”
The other two vampires tossed aside their drained victims and, blood still smeared around their mouths, advanced eagerly toward Lin Xiao, their excitement barely contained. They too longed to taste such delectable blood.
Before they could reach him, Lin Xiao, who had been standing still, suddenly leapt forward, appearing right in front of them.
The two vampires were baffled, unsure what he intended, but just as they moved to seize him, a flaming battle axe swung down, cleaving toward their necks with ferocious force.
