Chapter 141: We’re Already Very Close

At the Kameda Hotel, Qin Chuan had already put on a human-skin mask.
“Taro, why are you back so soon? Have you taken care of things at home?” The security captain had clearly noticed nothing amiss; his face was simply filled with astonishment.
Qin Chuan had prepared his answer in advance, and delivered it smoothly and naturally. “I’d only ridden halfway when my wife called to say the fire at home had been put out and that no one had been injured. So I hurried back. Captain, I was only gone for a little while—surely you won’t dock my pay, will you?”
The moment he finished speaking, Qin Chuan noticed something strange in the captain’s eyes. He immediately wondered whether he had made a mistake. After all, to avoid unnecessary complications, he had not interrogated the security guard about his basic personal details.
“When did you get married?”
A moment later, the security captain voiced the question that had been troubling Qin Chuan.
Qin Chuan reacted swiftly. Scratching his head with an embarrassed look, he said, “When I say ‘wife,’ I actually mean girlfriend. We only made things official a few days ago. I was planning to tell everyone after the relationship had settled down a little!”
At that explanation, the strange expression vanished from the captain’s face. He lightly patted Qin Chuan on the shoulder and said, “You’d better treat us all to a few drinks when the time comes.”
“Don’t worry. I definitely will!”
Qin Chuan confidently promised him. Then he suddenly clutched his stomach and frowned. “Captain, my stomach’s suddenly killing me. I’ll go take care of it in the restroom, then come back and resume patrol.”
As he spoke, Qin Chuan discreetly pulled out a wad of bills and stuffed it into the security captain’s hands. The saying that money could make even a ghost turn a millstone proved even more applicable to these Sakura devils. The captain, whose face had still held a trace of anger, instantly broke into a radiant smile like a blooming foxtail flower and smoothly tucked the money into his trouser pocket.
“Go on, go on! We can manage without you for a little while.” The security captain waved him off, then continued patrolling with the others, thoroughly satisfied.
Qin Chuan, meanwhile, swaggered into the Kameda Hotel. Following the signs, he headed toward the public restroom while observing the security cameras throughout the building. It was clear that cameras had been installed densely along the hotel corridors, leaving almost no blind spots.
Once inside the restroom, Qin Chuan activated his radar-detection bracelet again. The signal from the tracking chip was several times stronger than before, indicating that he was already very close to the two suspects—or rather, to the location of the tracking chip.
After all, Qin Chuan still could not be certain whether the tracking chips had been removed from the two men. If they had, finding the suspects’ whereabouts would truly be as difficult as ascending to heaven.

Qin Chuan immediately used his communicator to send Ling Qingxue a text message. The content was simple: Could she hack into the Kameda Hotel’s power-control system or surveillance system?
Ling Qingxue quickly replied: Yes, but the other side will be able to restore normal operation within three minutes at most.
Qin Chuan sent back three words: That’s enough!
A moment later, Ling Qingxue sent another message, instructing Qin Chuan to connect to the hotel’s internal wireless network.
Qin Chuan activated the universal wireless key in the device. It soon indicated that the wireless connection had been established successfully. He waited for roughly three minutes before the restroom lights suddenly went out. At the same time, the detection bracelet delivered a message:
“For the next three minutes, all surveillance equipment in the Kameda Hotel will be malfunctioning. Find the suspect as quickly as possible.”
Qin Chuan no longer hesitated. He swiftly left the public restroom and raced up the stairs. The monitoring device showed that the signal source was in one of the rooms above.
Qin Chuan moved with incredible speed, reaching the sixth floor almost in the blink of an eye. The corridor was still pitch-black, but Qin Chuan knew that a hotel of this size would have backup generators. The darkness would not last long.
When Qin Chuan reached the seventh floor, he heard a commotion of footsteps coming from the corridor. Judging from their conversation, they appeared to be another security team. At the same time, the detection bracelet around his wrist suddenly began to vibrate. This meant that the tracking chip in the suspect was now within a hundred meters of Qin Chuan.
A flicker of delight crossed Qin Chuan’s eyes, and he continued speeding upward. By the time he reached the ninth floor, the Kameda Hotel’s lights had come back on. The bracelet’s vibrations had grown even more frequent and intense, clearly indicating that the tracking chip—or rather, the suspect—was inside one of the rooms on the ninth floor.
Qin Chuan entered the corridor and saw a five-man security patrol approaching him. The short, thin guard leading them asked sternly, “Which team are you with? Why aren’t you guarding your assigned floor?”
The other security officers had clearly grown more vigilant as well, their hands resting on the batons at their waists, looking ready to strike at any moment.
“I’m with the hotel’s outer-perimeter patrol. There was an emergency just now, and the captain sent me to investigate,” Qin Chuan said in a deep voice.
Yet the guards did not relax in the slightest. The security captain even pointed at the radio clipped to his chest. The meaning was obvious: although the hotel had suddenly lost power, they could have simply contacted one another over the radio to ask what was happening. There had been no need to come and investigate in person.
“I didn’t expect you Sakura devils to have even a tiny bit of brains after all,” Qin Chuan suddenly said in the language of Hua Xia. “Though apparently not very much.”
The guards froze for a moment. Then shock and fury instantly appeared on their faces.
“Enemy—”

Before the security captain could finish shouting “attack,” Qin Chuan’s figure had already vanished from where he stood. In the next instant, he appeared among the guards.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Qin Chuan struck several times with the edges of his hands, and the guards collapsed one after another, losing consciousness. At the same time, voices from guards on other floors came through the security captain’s radio, asking what had happened.
Qin Chuan picked up the radio, replied that everything was normal, and then switched it off.
“I’m very close now!”
Qin Chuan continued deeper into the corridor until he reached the door of Room 905. The bracelet indicated that it had successfully connected to the tracking chip, proving that the suspect was inside.
Without the slightest hesitation, Qin Chuan pressed the doorbell. A moment later, a deep voice came from within.
“Who is it?”
It was pure Sakura speech, pronounced with perfect clarity.
Qin Chuan had previously watched footage related to Zheng Xingguo and Wei Baochuan and was extremely familiar with their voices. This voice, however, was clearly not either man’s natural voice.
“Security!”
Qin Chuan immediately called out, “There was an emergency outside just now. The captain sent me to check whether our esteemed guest is all right.”
He was bluffing the people inside. Yet after waiting for quite some time, he received no reply. Qin Chuan stopped wasting words and kicked the door with all his strength.
Crack!
The heavy door burst open beneath the blow, and Qin Chuan slipped into the room. It was pitch-black inside. Just as he was preparing to investigate farther in, a cold glint flashed through the darkness and shot straight toward his forehead.
