Chapter 124: The Majesty of the Mountain's Might
Above Changchun Island, the heavens were in turmoil. Two astonishing auras collided and intertwined in the high altitude, manifesting as invisible forces that whipped the ground below into a howling frenzy.
Leng Tian’s platinum-white protective energy had reached its absolute zenith. Behind him loomed the phantom of a massive peak, hundreds of zhang high, standing like an obsidian pillar supporting the sky. A formidable and vast pressure emanated from it, causing the very space within a hundred-meter radius of the peak to tremble and hum.
Ever since Leng Tian ascended to the Platinum Saint Body, the heaven-defying technique granted by his awakened bloodline—the "Mountain Momentum"—had also evolved. Its release had increased exponentially in power. If an ordinary martial artist of the Xuan Realm were to take a single strike from this momentum, their flesh would burst and their bones would shatter, even if they somehow survived.
Within his dantian, the sea of true energy surged with a thunderous roar. Streams of energy flowed madly through his meridians, pouring into the mountain seal on his chest. As this mutated energy was continuously infused, the giant peak phantom behind him began to solidify, manifesting its true form.
Leng Tian was giving his all for this decisive strike. He intended to use the power of the "Momentum." Having ascended to the Platinum Saint Body, his bloodline power had undergone a further sublimation. The power he could now exert was far superior to the clumsy display he had shown in the Mirror Flower, Water Moon realm—the difference being like a mere ripple in a lake compared to the awe-inspiring, crushing waves of the vast ocean.
Zi Lei’s eyes flashed with electricity as he stared at the pitch-black peak behind Leng Tian. His heart was filled with terror. In a trance, the giant peak felt to him like a titan of heaven and earth. The sheer shock of it reached his very soul, creating an urge to flee.
"What exactly is that black peak? Why does a desire to retreat keep sprouting within me?" Zi Lei felt a sense of panic, unable to comprehend why he, standing hundreds of meters away, was so deeply affected by the pressure of that black mountain!
What Zi Lei did not know was that this intuition did not come from himself, but from the divine spirit residing within the longsword in his hand.
Though it was the spirit of a deity, when compared to the nobility of the bloodline represented by Leng Tian’s mountain phantom, the difference was not merely a matter of power level—it was a suppression of spirit. Simply put, the deity in Zi Lei’s sword was one who had ascended from mortality; its divine bloodline had been bestowed by heaven and earth. However, the bloodline represented by the mountain was born before heaven and earth itself, suppressing all acquired lifeforms. Thus, the divine spirit forcibly influenced Zi Lei’s mind, urging him to flee rather than face the majesty of a primordial spirit.
"Hmph... I am a disciple of a Saint, wielding a divine sword! How could I harbor such cowardice? If I retreat now, I would not only lose face for my master but would never be able to stand tall in the Azure Sea and Jade Heavens again!"
Zi Lei steadied his emotions and let out a resounding roar: "Battle!" The purple sword in his hand flared with intense violet light, transforming into a streak of radiance that vanished into his body.
"Leng Tian, you should be proud. So far, you are the only one who has forced me to use this move. Take it as a sign of my respect!" Zi Lei’s voice echoed for miles.
"Stop the chatter. Let one battle decide the victor!" The giant peak behind Leng Tian, now hundreds of zhang high, had turned into an impenetrable, abyssal black. Its vast and heavy presence seemed capable of crushing the sky and grinding everything to dust.
Leng Tian’s platinum protective energy was now so dense that his figure was obscured, with thousands of hair-thin, razor-sharp edges bristling within the white aura.
Zi Lei was bathed in myriad rays of purple light, and thick, swirling mists poured from his body into the phantom giant behind him. "ROAR!" A low, guttural cry, seemingly from a deity, erupted from the giant's mouth. At the sound of it, every living creature on Changchun Island collapsed, losing consciousness instantly!
"Damn it! You scared the demon out of me! A divine roar? Big deal! Soon, Boss will flatten you, kick you to pieces, blow you to bits, and leave you without a legacy..."
Judah, hearing the roar from Zi Lei’s phantom giant, trembled all over. "Damn it, I’ve always been afraid of gods! Boss, kick him flat! I want to devour him... devour him... Ouch!"
Judah, who was jumping up and down on the blood-red runes while cursing, was kicked over by a suddenly appearing Xue Han. A small, snow-white foot firmly blocked Judah’s large mouth, preventing it from speaking and forcing it to merely grunt in indignation.
"Keep your mouth shut, you little pest! If you disturb Brother Tian, I will seal you for a year. See if you dare act up again! Behave yourself!" Xue Han stood with her hands on her hips, her other foot kicking Judah repeatedly between the legs. The thumping sounds were incessant.
The true energy in Leng Tian’s body could no longer be fed into the mountain seal. The phantom peak behind him showed signs of becoming corporeal; though it remained a projection, the sheer weight of its majesty caused a low mountain peak below to collapse, the booming sound echoing across the entire island.
"It's over, it's finished... Changchun Island is being destroyed by these two monsters! If His Excellency blames me, how can I answer for this?"
The fat tavern owner crouched by a fourth-floor window, watching the collapsing mountain, his heart breaking. His face had turned the color of liver. He was the secret overseer of Changchun Island, a place only a few dozen miles in size where no faction dared to act recklessly. Yet today, two powerhouses were wreaking havoc. He felt both hatred and the terror of facing the true master’s wrath, pacing like an ant on a hot pan.
High in the sky, Zi Lei’s aura reached its peak. The face of his phantom giant remained obscured, though the figure had grown much more solid. In one of its ethereal hands, it gripped a massive purple sword. Slowly, the giant raised the weapon, ultimately gripping it with both hands above its head. "HUM!" Space itself vibrated from the tip of the blade.
Zi Lei’s expression was cold and severe as he roared to the heavens, "Take my strongest strike: 'God's Wrath Slash'!" The great sword held by the giant behind him flashed and descended.
A straight wave of force surged from before Zi Lei toward Leng Tian, tearing through space and pushing the air aside like rolling waves. A purple giant sword, over three zhang long, broke free from the slash, carrying the momentum of a sky-cleaving strike toward Leng Tian!
Leng Tian’s eyes widened, his platinum-colored pupils flashing with icy dominance. "Hah!" He unleashed a thunderous roar. "Fist Sweeps the Eight Desolations!"
His left hand thrust out steadily. It was a simple, ordinary punch with no visible energy fluctuations, yet it carried the momentum of a collapsing heaven.
The black peak behind him hummed and trembled. A vast, heavy "Momentum" surged from the mountain, flowing through Leng Tian’s fist to collide with the incoming purple sword.
This was not an energy attack, but a manifestation of "Momentum"—the various momenta existing between heaven and earth: the mountain's momentum, the sea's momentum, the human's momentum, and the grandest of all, the momentum of heaven and earth itself!
Momentum represents the eruption of energy, the condensation of all living things, and the existence of all creation. Momentum stands above all things in heaven and earth; even a god, under the weight of heaven and earth's momentum, would be extinguished, their godhead returning to the void!
Leng Tian’s mountain momentum was gifted by his bloodline awakening. As for the extent of its power, one only had to look at the titan he saw in the mysterious space—the black peak behind that giant, which connected heaven and earth, possessed a power that truly shook the laws of the universe.
Though the peak Leng Tian condensed now was but a child compared to that titan, it was still far beyond what Zi Lei could resist with his sword and borrowed spirit.
The invisible momentum and the purple giant sword made contact. A mournful wail echoed through space. Under the assault of the momentum, the purple energy sword, along with the faint laws of nature contained within it, began to dissolve and melt, returning to the void. With the laws dissolved, the energy of the sword body was even more fragile, melting away like snow in a warm breeze until it vanished into nothingness.
After dissolving the purple sword, the mountain momentum continued unabated, pushing toward the stunned Zi Lei. "HUM!" Space trembled again. As the momentum struck, the mists around Zi Lei shattered, and his body was sent flying through the air!
Under the pressure, the protective aura around Zi Lei vanished, his clothes were shredded into dust, and his body was left defenseless.
Zi Lei let out a muffled groan as blood sprayed into the air. His face turned deathly pale, and he roared in his heart, filled with horror, "This is impossible... how can this be... I have lost... I am defeated..."
Overcome with shock and internal injury, he lost consciousness. As he began to plummet, a light flashed; the purple longsword flew out from his body, releasing a thick violet glow that enveloped the unconscious Zi Lei. At the same time, a deep, aged voice echoed in Leng Tian’s ears.
"Young man from the outside world, you are quite good. My disciple’s defeat is not due to a lack of spirit, but a lack of skill—he deserved this trial. But once I have retaught him, I will have him seek you out in the Great World to wash away today’s shame!"
As the voice finished, the purple light transformed by the sword carried Zi Lei away, moving hundreds of zhang in a single, lightning-fast blink.
Meanwhile, a group of people led by a gray-robed elder, who were halfway to the island, suddenly stopped. A voice had reached their ears.
The dozen-plus men looked at each other, stunned. Finally, the gray-robed elder spoke: "The Saint has sent a message. What he said must be the truth, but why did he order us to capture him if possible?"
"Elder Liu, since the Saint has commanded it, we must obey. Let us hurry to Changchun Island; we cannot let him escape!" said a man with a sallow face, casting a strange glance at the man in white from Flame Island.
"Indeed, you are right. Let us go to Changchun Island and capture him if we can!" With that, the gray-robed elder accelerated his flight, followed closely by the others. Each of them felt confused and unsettled by the Saint's message, their eyes repeatedly drifting toward the man in white from Flame Island.
