Chapter Fifty: All Imprisoned
Just as several Shadow Demons were still discussing the Purgatory, a sudden flash of crimson light appeared. Cold Sky emerged from within the Purgatory, standing before the gathered Shadow Demons.
Startled, the Shadow Demons scattered and dodged, wary and ready to pounce at the slightest sign of danger, intent on besieging and devouring their adversary.
Before Cold Sky came out, he had already coordinated with Judah; Judah would take control temporarily, appearing before the Shadow Demons to confuse them, aiming to ensnare them all in one fell swoop.
“Brothers, don’t panic. It’s me, Judah—I’ve returned!” After Cold Sky appeared, he spoke with Judah’s voice, and even his eyes had turned deep green, though the divine armor still shielded him.
“Judah, is that you?” The Shadow Demon who had spoken before looked at Cold Sky in surprise, somewhat uncertain.
“It’s me, Devourer Boss! Rest assured, I’ve seized his divine soul. Now this body is under my control—nothing to worry about.” Judah recited the story they’d prepared.
The Shadow Demons surged forward, surrounding him. “How did you manage it? Where are your two brothers—why haven’t we seen them?” Devourer scrutinized closely, asking with suspicion.
Hearing this, Judah began to sob, his voice mournful as he lamented, “They sacrificed themselves to give me the chance to seize this body. Their souls were completely dissolved by divine power!”
“Their sacrifice enabled my success—otherwise, all three of us would have faded into oblivion!”
“Well done—no flaws in your performance,” Judah whispered to Cold Sky after finishing the tale.
“Carry on,” Cold Sky replied calmly.
“Brother, take heart. Their sacrifice was worthwhile. Now tell us—where did this kid take you?” Devourer stared at Cold Sky’s body, inquiring of Judah. What he most wanted to know was where Judah had been taken and what that crimson orb was.
“Devourer Boss, we’ve struck it rich this time! This kid’s wealth is truly astonishing!” Judah exclaimed, even dancing with excitement.
“Enough with the theatrics—quickly, tell us what delicacies await!” The surrounding Shadow Demons pressed impatiently.
“Devourer Boss, listen—this kid possesses a miniature world treasure, filled with countless living creatures for us to devour. It’s enough to sustain us brothers for quite some time and elevate our power to new heights.”
“What did you say—a miniature world? Is it that crimson orb?” Devourer’s eyes gleamed green, his expression highly agitated.
“Devourer Boss, notify all our brothers nearby and I’ll take you in. I guarantee you’ll be so taken with the delicacies inside you’ll never want to leave! Moreover, I’ll control his divine soul to relinquish mastery over the miniature world, handing it to you so you can lead us to live peacefully within.”
“Excellent! All my care for you has paid off. Keep up the good work and follow me from now on!” Devourer said smugly, instructing several Shadow Demons to summon their companions.
Judah flattered Devourer carefully, though inwardly he sneered, “Soon enough, you’ll be crying!”
“Are all Shadow Demons so ruthless—do you feel no guilt for attacking your own kind?” Cold Sky remarked with a hint of mockery.
“That’s unfair, Boss. Betraying one’s kin is a human specialty. My little tricks hardly compare!” Judah retorted.
Cold Sky fell silent, knowing Judah was right. Despite humanity’s long civilization, every virtue has its opposite. In suspicion, betrayal, and struggle for interest, few races could rival humans.
Moments later, all the Shadow Demons in the spatial channel were summoned—around twenty in total, gathering around.
Devourer addressed them, “Brothers, Judah will now lead us to a world said to be rich in food. Do you want to go?”
“Yes!” the Shadow Demons cheered loudly. “Judah, begin! Take us—let’s see what kind of world could earn your praise!”
“Boss, it’s yours. I’ll step aside,” Judah informed Cold Sky, signaling him to send them all into the Purgatory.
Under their watchful gaze, Cold Sky’s body radiated a crimson light, enveloping the Shadow Demons. With a flash, they all vanished, leaving the channel empty.
As they entered the Purgatory, Devourer caught a glimpse that stunned him, a foreboding rising in his heart—for he saw Cold Sky’s eyes had returned to normal, and a smile flickered within them!
Within the Purgatory, the dragon Max was still enjoying his bath of lightning, eyes closed, lost in slumber.
Cold Sky appeared in the distance with the Shadow Demons. As soon as they materialized, Devourer darted aside, watching Cold Sky’s eyes warily.
“Welcome, all, to my world. Here, I am the master—your fate lies in my hands!” Cold Sky smiled confidently, scanning the Shadow Demons.
“Who are you? Where’s Judah—bring him out! Why deceive us? Do you think you alone can keep us here?” Despite some panic, Devourer’s tone was still arrogant.
“My apologies, but Judah is now my servant—he won’t come to meet you. As for whether I can keep you here, that’s simple: can you leave now?” Cold Sky replied casually.
“Brothers, attack! Devour him, then annihilate Judah the traitor’s soul!” Devourer’s eyes flashed green, his voice murderous.
The Shadow Demons roared, surging toward Cold Sky. Devourer still coveted the Purgatory, convinced that Cold Sky couldn’t destroy so many Shadow Demons.
He issued orders for them to attack first, while he waited for an opportunity to strike and seize Cold Sky.
His plan was sound, but Cold Sky gave him no chance. As the Shadow Demons closed in, Cold Sky shifted the scene and, together with Max, instantly teleported elsewhere.
Cold Sky’s sudden disappearance left the Shadow Demons without a target, plunging them into chaos, searching in vain for his whereabouts.
Devourer’s heart sank; he realized that this so-called miniature world was under Cold Sky’s control—he could manipulate everything at will.
Thinking of this, Devourer called for calm among the Shadow Demons. “Don’t panic! We’re only temporarily trapped. He can’t harm us, or he wouldn’t have fled so quickly!”
No sooner had Devourer spoken than, without warning, several thick bolts of crimson lightning crashed down from the sky, instantly engulfing them all.
After the lightning ceased, the Shadow Demons were left wreathed in crackling electricity, black smoke curling from their bodies. “Heavens! It’s the power of Thunder Punishment—run!”
One Shadow Demon shrieked, sprinting away, trailing sparks and flashes with wisps of smoke.
“Thunder Punishment—how is this possible? Could it be…” Devourer was deeply shocked, suddenly looking up at Cold Sky standing atop a hill. His deep green eyes showed resolve; once the lightning faded, his pitch-black body vanished like a phantom.
When he reappeared, he was only a few meters from Cold Sky. Just as he prepared to pounce and seize him, something incredible happened—he froze in place, eyes wide.
What had been a few meters’ distance now was suddenly a hundred meters away! Devourer rubbed his bulging eyes, looking closely, confirming that Cold Sky had indeed shifted through space.
This did not intimidate Devourer; instead, he grew more frenzied. Narrowing his eyes, he said sharply, “Hmph! Is spatial shifting so impressive? Watch me—formless, shapeless, shadow-born!”
With that, Devourer’s entire body visibly dissolved into nothingness, as if merging into space, blending with the air.
Cold Sky’s expression changed—even his divine sense could not detect Devourer’s presence! “Boss, be careful! This is the supreme technique of the Formless Shadow Demons, turning oneself into emptiness. With your current divine sense, you won’t find him!”
“Do you know this technique?” Cold Sky folded and twisted the Purgatory’s space around himself, encircled by lightning to guard against Devourer’s ambush.
“No…” Judah’s tone was dejected, but then he brightened, “If you can destroy his true formless body, I can devour his soul—then I’ll possess this technique!”
“Oh!” Cold Sky’s face grew grim, his divine sense sweeping everywhere, but he could not locate Devourer.
“Don’t waste your efforts, kid. With your divine sense not yet transformed into thought power, discovering me is but a delusion. You think, with Judah the traitor, you can defeat me?”
Devourer’s voice echoed around Cold Sky, elusive and fading.
“Boss, ignore Devourer—deal with the small fry first, then take care of him afterward,” Judah advised.
Meanwhile, the remaining Shadow Demons fled in all directions like headless flies, desperate to avoid the unpredictable lightning.
Cold Sky nodded in agreement, his mind stirring. Dozens, then hundreds, of bolts of lightning poured from the sky, blanketing the entire region.
None of the escaping Shadow Demons survived. The air was filled with lightning and piercing screams, as if Thunder Punishment had descended to subdue demons.
The whole area became a sea of lightning, heaven’s might vast and majestic, punishing the world. Lightning continued to pour down. Standing atop the hill, Cold Sky felt a tremor in his heart—within the Purgatory, he was the master of the rules.
“To think I, Cold Sky, can command the descent of Thunder Punishment—my two centuries of worldly cultivation were not in vain!”
“Boss, no need for sentiment. This miniature world is now in your hands—when you truly master it, you can reflect then,” Judah replied with deep meaning.
