Chapter Fifty-One: Swallowed by Chaos and Oblivion
Thunder continued to roar, drowning out the Shadow Fiend's screams.
"Boss, that's about enough. If we drag this out any longer, I'm afraid even its soul will scatter. That would be a loss for us," Judas said anxiously.
"Alright, I'll withdraw the lightning," Leng Tian replied, stopping the storm with a wave of his hand.
The sky quieted as the lightning faded. As the thunder dissipated, the scene within was revealed: over twenty trembling souls of Shadow Fiends floated in the air.
These souls were all dim, devoid of any light, flickering occasionally with residual sparks.
"Good thing we didn't continue; otherwise, we'd have lost everything for nothing," Judas said with relief.
"It's time to consider how to deal with Hun Tun. Any ideas on how to force it out?" Leng Tian's gaze was sharp, his face focused as he surveyed the surrounding space.
"Boss, there's no need to worry. Even though the power to dissolve into emptiness is formidable, you are the master of this world. What could possibly escape your eyes?" Judas, seeing Leng Tian's furrowed brow and tense face, reminded him of his own status. In this inferno, any foreign existence would be repelled.
Leng Tian felt suddenly enlightened by Judas' words. He thought, what's wrong with me? Judas is right—even if Hun Tun's ability to dissolve into emptiness is powerful, this is my world. Here, I am an omnipotent god. No matter how many transformations it has, I will break them with a single thought!
His mind cleared, Leng Tian closed his eyes and deeply communed with the inferno, sending his consciousness across every region under his control.
He comprehensively covered the space, dispersing his awareness into every nook and cranny, probing every inch in a thorough sweep.
Meanwhile, Max, shrouded in lightning, lay on a hillside, his huge dragon eyes peering through gaps, watching the outside world. At the slightest disturbance, dragon fire would instantly erupt from his mouth.
For the Formless Shadow Fiends, Max's bloodline and tribal records contained detailed and profound descriptions of such foreign beings.
From these, Max knew the Formless Shadow Fiends were not creatures of any world; normally, low-level warriors' energies could not harm them.
Only those acknowledged by the laws, the return-to-god rank warriors infused with divine bodies, could inflict devastation upon them. Under divine power, most natural energies were powerless against them, let alone destroy them!
Because they were not native beings, the laws repelled them, dispersing them into nothingness. Only those who mastered the laws could obliterate them entirely!
Generally, Formless Shadow Fiends would not enter worlds teeming with life. They wandered in small pocket spaces or hunted in worlds where laws were incomplete, rules still forming—only there could they exploit loopholes in the laws.
Knowing all this, Max remained highly vigilant, alert for any anomaly. Their Golden Dragon lineage possessed unique golden dragon flame capable of harming Shadow Fiends, though his own dragon fire was not yet sufficient.
According to ancient records, in a distant era, their ancestors—the Divine Dragons—tested their young by sending them to hunt Shadow Fiends beyond realms.
As direct descendants of Divine Dragons, Golden Dragons inherited some of their powers, especially in flame.
Though Max could not yet achieve such effects, once he truly entered the ranks of sacred beasts, he would be a nightmare for Shadow Fiends of this level.
Leng Tian continued his meticulous exploration of the space. Time passed silently, but Hun Tun remained elusive.
Within the inferno, the only sounds were thunder and Leng Tian's silent consciousness sweeping through the space.
After searching every controlled region, he found no trace of Hun Tun's hiding place.
Leng Tian's expression remained calm, betraying no emotion. He spread his consciousness again, this time attempting to fully meld it with the space.
His awareness expanded from a narrow line to a broad swath—first a few meters, then ten, twenty, until it reached a terrifying seven hundred meters. This was Leng Tian's limit, achievable only because the inferno's space was unconstrained.
His invisible consciousness drifted like a curtain across the space, his mind deeply fused with the inferno, slowly synchronizing space and awareness, achieving resonance. Space particles collided, shattered, penetrated, and eventually fused. For hundreds of meters, this tedious harmony demanded immense endurance and time.
Standing on the hillside, Leng Tian's face was as tranquil as water, engaging in this first intimate contact with space at such a minute level.
This method was beyond the reach of newly ascended saints; they could only use space for simple tasks, like teleportation.
Time seemed to freeze as the entire space shuddered, then rippled like water. Leng Tian's expanded consciousness also trembled, a speechless thrill surging from his awareness.
Through his persistent efforts, his consciousness finally fused completely with a single inch of space. As the saying goes, when the mind is attuned, all is accessible. Though only an inch, this was like finding a key to a great door—once unlocked, entry and exit were unhindered.
Rather than being recognized by space, it was more accurate to say Leng Tian gained its initial approval—though only within the inferno.
The space rippled like water, scattering Leng Tian's consciousness, dispersing it among every particle.
In a single breath, his awareness fully merged with the space. To his delight, he could harmonize with any point at will; as soon as his mind moved, the space he wished to sense automatically fused with his consciousness.
His awareness moved freely within the space, sometimes like a swimming fish, sometimes like a galloping wolf, wild and unrestrained.
Space twisted and transformed into a clawing divine dragon, raising its head and roaring, sending out circular ripples—turbulent yet silent.
The illusory divine dragon formed from space rampaged across the vast world, sometimes soaring to the horizon, sometimes lingering around Leng Tian.
Suddenly, Leng Tian's eyes sharpened as he stared coldly at a spot. "Still trying to hide? Show yourself! Space stagnation! Collapse! Heavenly Thunder Punishment!"
No sooner had he spoken than the space at that spot shifted from formless to tangible, revealing a mass of black shadow—none other than Hun Tun.
As Hun Tun appeared, its concealed space instantly collapsed, compressing and crushing it. Then a thunderbolt as thick as a bowl crashed down, striking the collapsed space precisely.
Black smoke accompanied a shadow as it shot out, blurred and dissolving again into emptiness, hiding within the space.
Seeing Hun Tun escape from the collapsed space, Leng Tian's lips curled into a playful smile.
He transmitted to Judas, "Do you want it alive or dead?"
"Hehe, Boss, of course dead! If it were alive, I'd feel awkward facing it," Judas' figure appeared in Leng Tian's mind, rubbing his hands awkwardly.
"Stop pretending with your clumsy act. You just want to devour its soul!" Leng Tian bluntly exposed Judas' true intent.
"Boss, you're brilliant! You see through my thoughts at a glance—no wonder I look up to you!"
Leng Tian directly blocked Judas' voice, gazing at the empty vastness, leisurely sitting cross-legged on the ground, drawing out a jug of clear wine and taking a hearty drink.
He muttered, "Since you love hiding, I'll force you out!"
Boom!
A bolt of lightning struck, and a wisp of black smoke rose. Hun Tun appeared, disheveled and shocked, incredulously demanding, "How did you find me?"
Leng Tian ignored Hun Tun's question, merely smiling.
Boom! Boom!
Two more bolts hammered down. Hun Tun howled in rage, its body crackling with thunder as it lunged at Leng Tian!
Hun Tun was now nearly mad. In its position among the Shadow Fiends, it had never been so helpless—betrayed by its companions, then outmaneuvered by a lowly human cultivator who broke through its dissolution technique. How could it not be furious and aggrieved?
Leng Tian simply drank his wine, unconcerned by Hun Tun's actions.
The unfortunate Hun Tun was struck by lightning every meter it advanced, yet its madness did not abate.
But its frenzy could not shield it from thunder's harm. In just a few dozen meters, Hun Tun's form was already fading. Only then did it regain some clarity, but it was too late to do anything else.
Seeing its nearly shattered formless body, Hun Tun cried out in despair, transforming into a black streak that shot toward Leng Tian like lightning!
"A last gamble?" Leng Tian glanced at the black streak.
Dozens of bolts thundered down, precisely targeting its path. After the tenth strike, Hun Tun had faded to a wisp of black smoke, its soul flickering within.
"Boss, hit it a few more times—wipe it out completely!" Judas cheered, bouncing with excitement.
Leng Tian directed several more bolts onto Hun Tun's soul, erasing the last remnants of its formless body. Hun Tun's annihilation was now certain.
Another bolt struck the soul, dimming it further. "Boss, stop now—any more and it'll be gone!" Judas' small figure flew from Leng Tian's brow, pouncing on Hun Tun's soul and swallowing it without hesitation.
