Chapter 101: Squeeze His Money Out of Him (Fourth Update)
“Truly worthy of being our Tianhai’s half-son,” Mayor Li said with a laugh.
“That’s right,” Yang Fan replied.
“Then we’ll be waiting for your good news,” Mayor Li said, then immediately called his secretary over.
Yang Fan, meanwhile, phoned Liu Haoyu and told him to come out for a moment.
Mayor Li had probably come here today precisely for this matter, contracts in hand and even the official seals with him.
Yang Fan flipped through the contract. The property being purchased included the main peak of Wangmo Mountain, which was also Salvation’s headquarters, the mountain site that had once served as Salvation’s warehouse, a manor, and the entire Wangmo Mountain area.
Three hundred million was truly not expensive. It was likely, as his father-in-law had said, that the government had quietly opened the door for him.
Yang Fan signed without hesitation. Liu Haoyu transferred the money directly, and Mayor Li immediately completed all the formalities on the spot.
Yang Fan casually handed the paperwork to Liu Haoyu and said, “Haoyu, take this contract to the office building and make an exact copy of it.”
“Okay, Uncle. I’ll go right now!” Liu Haoyu left with the contract, and the documents were also handed over to Ye Bing by him.
“Yang Fan, I’m really curious now. Just how much money do you actually have?” Mayor Li asked with a smile.
“I’m curious too. Three hundred million, and you can pay it out just like that,” Zhang Hai said with a grin.
With the serious business finished, it was time to talk about the rest.
“Money is only a number. You shouldn’t be looking at how much money I have; you should be looking at how much I’m carrying on me.”
As he spoke, Yang Fan emptied his pockets. There were one-yuan notes, five-yuan notes, ten-yuan notes, and not even a single hundred.
“My heavens, I’m broke,” Yang Fan said miserably.
Mayor Li and Zhang Hai looked at each other. If you dare call yourself broke, how are the rest of us supposed to live?
“All right then, we should be going,” Mayor Li and Zhang Hai said as they stood up.
“You’re not staying for the banquet after the opening ceremony? Don’t later say I never treated you!”
“When the day comes for your feast, then invite us,” Mayor Li said.
“Absolutely!”
Mayor Li and Zhang Hai bade farewell to Director Wang, then led their government entourage away.
“Dad, just as you said, the province really did give me the green light. That piece of land couldn’t be bought for three hundred million at all,” Yang Fan said after sitting down with Director Wang.
“So you see, people should be kind. A kind heart brings blessings of its own.”
Yang Fan nodded vigorously. That had always been his principle: the greater the ability, the greater the responsibility.
After chatting with his father-in-law for a while longer, Director Wang also had to leave. He still needed to hurry back to the provincial capital that afternoon, and Wang Yun’s mother went with him.
In truth, as a professor at the University of Political Science and Law, she was just as worn out, running back and forth between the provincial capital and the city.
“Yang Fan, take good care of Yun’er,” the older couple said.
“Don’t worry, Dad. Mom.”
After seeing Wang Yun’s parents off, he walked toward the convention center with Wang Yun.
“What are you so happy about?” Wang Yun asked.
“I was thinking about who else I can fleece. By the way, what was the name of the guy who chased you for four years?”
“What are you up to now?” Wang Yun asked quickly.
“Find him and talk business. Sell you off.”
Wang Yun kicked him again and cursed, “Get lost!”
“Seriously, though, do you have his phone number?”
“You’re really going to sell me?”
“Do I have the heart to? I just want to talk business with him. At the very least, I’ve got to earn back those three hundred million.” Yang Fan said.
“You just spent another three hundred million, you spendthrift!”
...
At the convention center, the excitement had not diminished in the slightest.
“Next up, we draw the second batch of lucky spectators. Come on, aim your smiles this way, everyone shout, one, two, three!”
The whole venue erupted in cheers, because the prize was a custom phone with autographs from the stars present.
Amid the cheering, as the big screen flickered, it suddenly locked onto the Tianhai police officers standing in the very last row.
That’s right, they were standing there...
“Everyone may have noticed that the people at the very back are the police. They’ve been busy from morning until now. While everyone else is cheering and celebrating, I feel it is necessary for us to pay tribute to them, because they are the true stars most worthy of our respect.”
The entire venue rose to its feet. Truly, at that moment, they were sincerely saluting the police.
Yang Fan smiled toward them. Naturally, this had been his arrangement as well. One could not let heroes shed blood and then shed tears too.
It was the standard military salute, and every police officer stood solemn and dignified.
What stars convey, after all, is a kind of positive energy.
The launch ceremony did not end until six o’clock. It took a full hour just to disperse the crowd, and Xu Zihan, Zhao Mengnan, and the others accompanied the police and the special tactical officers for another meal.
All told, the launch ceremony had been a success. Fannmei had made its first appearance before the public, laying the groundwork for the brilliant debut of the Other Shore Flower girl group next year.
And next year, Fannmei’s main push would be the Other Shore Flower girl group.
On the other side were the investors: Jiang Huai, Mr. Han, Ajiu, and the others. Once the launch ceremony had begun, Jiang Huai was by far the most anxious. At such a critical moment in the struggle between his two brothers for the inheritance, both of them were racking their brains to invest in every possible way.
Now that the project had finally begun, his mood was excellent.
“Yang Fan, if you have anything else that can turn a profit quickly, you absolutely have to tell me,” Jiang Huai said.
“There’s plenty that can turn a profit. Of course, money has to be earned slowly. Why are you in such a hurry?” Mr. Han said with a smile.
“How can I not be in a hurry? My family has given my brother and me only one year for the assessment,” Jiang Huai said.
“There are still projects, but they won’t bring in money in the short term. I do have one method, though, that will guarantee your victory. Whether aboveboard or underhanded, we’ll win either way,” Yang Fan said.
“What method?” Jiang Huai asked.
“Why don’t the few of us discuss it privately?” Yang Fan said.
“Sure.”
“Then let’s go. Mr. Han, Mr. Song, let’s talk too,” Yang Fan said as he stood up.
Mr. Han and Mr. Song nodded and stood up with Jiang Huai.
The three men, Liu Mingfeng among them, also knew what Yang Fan was about to discuss, so they did not follow.
Inside a luxurious reception lounge...
“Yang Fan, what exactly is going on that you’re making such a mystery of it?” Jiang Huai asked.
“Here, take a look,” Yang Fan said, directly producing the contract for Wangmo Mountain.
The three of them took it and flipped through it, instantly stunned.
“That place is worth more than three hundred million, isn’t it?”
“No matter what it’s worth now, it belongs to me. Mr. Jiang, weren’t you just saying you wanted to invest?”
“The project is good, but in the short term...”
“That’s not hard. I’ve already thought it through. Doesn’t your younger brother have discretionary control over two billion? Add in the people under him, and he should be able to gather thirty billion. Let him invest!”
“Let him invest? Aren’t you just helping him shine even more?” Jiang Huai said bitterly.
“Mr. Jiang, do you still not understand? This project won’t make money within a year. Isn’t your younger brother competing with you? Whatever you invest in, he’ll invest in too. So all you have to do is lure him in and trap all of his discretionary cash in this project, and then you’ll win for sure,” Mr. Song explained from the side.
People of Mr. Song’s and Mr. Han’s age were old foxes; with just a hint, they could already guess the rest.
