Chapter 11: Innate Advantage
“Why are there still two cars following us?”
“They’re here to help me move my things. That SUV is from my dad, he sent it for us.”
Yang Fan nodded silently. He didn’t understand the world of the wealthy, though he’d be one himself someday.
“Zhang Chen can drive. Let him take this car; he can deliver his idol.” Yang Fan was in good spirits.
Ahead was the aquarium shop. Yang Fan told Liu Haoyu to stop the car, partly to buy fish for Ai Xiaomei, and partly because he needed more tigerfish to modify.
He wondered what would happen if he tried different species—like the fundamental difference between tropical and temperate fish.
Though rarity increases value, he needed money now, and besides, a few dozen would still be considered rare.
But as soon as he entered, he understood why Ai Xiaomei had so generously given him a thousand yuan. It was for buying her fish. According to her specifications, after the purchase, he had only a hundred left.
“You said your little aunt is quite the scammer—take heed! Never let her know where your money is!”
Liu Haoyu nodded again. Was his aunt automatically set to ‘scam’ mode?
Of course, Yang Fan didn’t end up paying for all the fish. They bought two batches: one for Ai Xiaomei, as she requested, and the other, the main batch, sent to the Liu family.
There were all kinds of fish, and several large tanks. They wrote two addresses for the shop owner, and Yang Fan and Liu Haoyu left.
When Yang Fan returned home, Ai Xiaomei and the others had just gotten up, leisurely eating breakfast made from yesterday’s leftover hotpot.
“Yang Fan, you two are just in time. Join us for breakfast,” Xu Zihan called, carrying a bowl of soup.
“This is lunch, isn’t it? It’s already past eleven,” Yang Fan couldn’t help but comment. These people could really sleep.
“We just woke up. The first meal after waking is breakfast,” Ai Xiaomei said cheerfully. Only in the morning could she feel a bit settled.
“Then why don’t you say you eat seven or eight meals a day? You even snack before bed.”
“I’m still growing!”
Yang Fan rolled his eyes. Ai Xiaomei never lost an argument, but he was too lazy to retort. It was nearly noon, so he and Liu Haoyu sat down.
“Why is the corridor outside so messy?”
“That’s the movers, just downstairs,” Liu Haoyu explained.
“You’ve already moved in?”
“Yes, and I’ve prepared your things too. You can move in directly!”
“Really? That’s wonderful! I want to go check it out.”
“Me too…” Ai Xiaomei quickly followed her down.
Yang Fan didn’t feel like moving. He glanced at Xu Zihan, who had been busy. Only now could she rest.
“These are the documents for your room. Here!”
Xu Zihan was stunned. This was too valuable—how could she accept it?
“Yang Fan, this…”
“Take it. We’re best friends. I can’t let my best friend be homeless, can I? You told me you’ve wandered for years, never having a home in this city. So I’m giving you one.”
“But…”
“No buts. Remember, even if you’re alone on the road to your dreams, I’ll always be here behind you.”
Tears glistened at the corner of Xu Zihan’s eyes, just like the first time she met Yang Fan. Years of hardship poured out in that moment.
But now, there was only silence.
“What about your dream?”
“That is my dream. Imagine there’s a pit ahead, and you suddenly fall in. When you look back, guess what I’m doing?”
“Cheering in delight?”
“Come, let’s toast to our love-hate friendship.”
Yang Fan and Xu Zihan laughed together, until Liu Haoyu and the others returned.
“Brother, what are you two laughing about?”
“At you. We were thinking, if you wore a viral bear costume and walked down the street…”
Ai Xiaomei’s eyes spun instantly!
“Yang Fan, everything downstairs is ready for us. We can move right in!” Zhang Chen said.
“And that SUV downstairs is for you too,” Yang Fan pointed to the window. Zhang Chen and the others looked down; sure enough, there was an SUV parked beside Liu Haoyu’s car.
“Seriously?”
“Of course. Here’s the key. The task of delivering your idol is yours.” Yang Fan placed the keys on the table.
“I’m more than happy! Idol, you must introduce me to a girlfriend—those girls from the other night were pretty good,” Zhang Chen said.
“Alright, I’ll connect you!”
“What about us?”
“I’ll help you all!” Xu Zihan promised.
After eating, the two cars made several trips, moving all of Zhang Chen’s group’s belongings and setting up the ornamental fish. At two in the afternoon, everyone set off together: first, they dropped Xu Zihan off at her film crew, then they returned to school.
Ai Xiaomei naturally followed Xu Zihan. Without Ai Xiaomei around, Yang Fan was in a particularly good mood!
As for safety, with Ai Xiaomei’s unknown abilities, if others stayed safe, it would be thanks to heaven’s mercy.
Tianning University was lax in its management; the students acted accordingly, especially interns like Yang Fan.
At the school gate, couples still streamed in and out—mostly freshmen and sophomores. In school, they were oblivious to the hardships of society.
These young couples were sweet at university, but after graduation, temptation abounded—the true test of vows was yet to come.
“I heard our graduating class has a breakup rate over seventy percent. Those who haven’t split are full of conflicts,” Xu Tao said.
“You’re so bored, you even keep stats!”
“I didn’t—this is what the school forum says. You just don’t care about your alma mater.”
“That’s normal. Of those who start dating in college, how many last?” Yang Fan sighed. Then he continued, “Some girls, for instance, Bai…”
He was about to say the name, noticed everyone looking at him, and thought better of it.
But sure enough, ahead was a couple—who else but Bai Tiantian? Fate had summoned her.
Yang Fan glanced at the man beside Bai Tiantian and couldn’t help but shake his head.
Liu Haoyu looked odd; the other three drew blanks.
She changed boyfriends so often; no wonder people say even unattractive girls can marry, there must be some innate advantage.
Bai Tiantian noticed Yang Fan’s group as well. The air became subtly tense.
