Chapter 144: Class Reunion (Part I)
"The market in Tianning has been pretty much carved up; it's time to look for new targets," Yang Fan sighed.
"So, you're saying that since we're stable now, you're free to go hunting for more?"
"Where is your mind at?" Yang Fan genuinely felt the girl's imagination and associative abilities were extraordinary. To connect this to their relationship—it was a real shame she didn't write novels for a living.
"In that case, you guys better stay away. Leave some room for the wealthy folks here in Tianhai to survive!"
"Die early and be reincarnated sooner! Why don't you transfer to Tianning instead?"
"Not a chance. My home is in Tianhai, and my parents are here too. Why would I go to Tianning?" Wang Yun replied.
"Then what do your parents do? Tell you what, my dear, let's skip this class reunion, buy some gifts, and go visit them. Doesn't that sound better?"
"Do you really want to meet them?" Wang Yun asked.
"Of course!"
"Alright then. Next time I go to the provincial capital for a meeting, I'll bring you along."
"Wait a second!" Yang Fan was shocked, then asked, "Why the provincial capital?"
"Well, my father is the Deputy Director of the Provincial Public Security Department, and my mother is a professor at the Tianhai University of Political Science and Law."
"Holy cow, you're a political second-generation!"
"Exactly. So, my parents really want to meet you. They intend to properly interrogate how you managed to pluck the flower of our family!"
"Maybe we should wait a couple of days for that meeting," Yang Fan said, feeling miserable. The situation was too big; he didn't know how he'd handle it.
"Don't be afraid. They'll be attending your film premiere tomorrow."
"The way you put it, I'm feeling even more uneasy!"
"But when you were 'having' me, why were you so confident? My parents were bound to find out eventually, weren't they?"
Yang Fan was speechless.
"Alright, we're here. Get out of the car, don't be afraid!"
"No, Yun'er, tell me first—what are our parents' hobbies?" Seeing Wang Yun get out, Yang Fan quickly stepped out and asked.
"That trick won't work. They just want to know who plucked our flower. I am their only daughter, after all," Wang Yun said with a wave of her hand.
...
There was a group of people ahead. Wang Yun took Yang Fan’s arm and waved at them.
"Wang Yun!"
"Xiaoyu! An Lan!"
The girls rushed over. Wang Yun tossed her bag into Yang Fan's arms and ran to join the embrace. The girls hugged each other tightly.
Yang Fan rolled his eyes. *So that's it, you're ditching me? Even if you are, you could at least let me have a hug too!*
As soon as this thought crossed his mind, he felt he truly had the potential to be a lecher—he actually wanted to hug Wang Yun's best friends!
"Wang Yun, it's been over half a year! Who is this?"
"Yeah, Wang Yun, you aren't even introducing us."
...
"I'm not introducing you guys; got to guard against fire, theft, and best friends," Wang Yun joked. Of course, she was going to introduce him. She called Yang Fan over and said, "This is my husband, Yang Fan."
"You're married? We had no idea!"
"Exactly! You girl, you didn't even notify us. The ship of friendship really has capsized."
"Not at all. We just got our marriage license recently; we haven't held the wedding yet," Wang Yun said with a smile. She introduced Yang Fan to everyone one by one. Once the greetings were done, he was completely irrelevant.
"What does your boyfriend do? You got married so fast!"
The girls were in front, and Yang Fan was trailing behind—he was just a luggage carrier!
The eighth floor of the Hanfu Restaurant was the venue for the gathering. Wang Yun wasn't exactly the most sociable type at school; she was only close with her best friends.
They sat together, and her friends kept scrutinizing Yang Fan. Yang Fan felt very anxious. Other people who had arrived earlier, men and women alike, were glancing in their direction. Of course, Wang Yun hadn't explicitly explained who Yang Fan was, but seeing him carry her bag, wasn't it obvious he was her boyfriend?
Whispered discussions broke out. Yang Fan felt miserable—why on earth did he come to this class reunion?
Just then, Wang Yun's phone rang. She ignored it as if she hadn't heard, but when Yang Fan looked at his own phone, it displayed "Mom."
"Who is it?" Wang Yun glanced over and said, "You answer it!"
"Me..."
Yang Fan felt a headache coming on. What was he supposed to say?
"I'll go outside to take it and find someone to chat with while I'm at it!"
Wang Yun glared at him, thinking he was trying to flirt with the waitresses again.
"It's business! Where is your mind at?"
Wang Yun waved him off. Yang Fan felt like he had escaped a tiger's den; it was way too stifling in there.
He walked out in three quick steps, bumping into someone coming in. They locked eyes for a few seconds.
The phone kept ringing. Yang Fan gritted his teeth; there was no avoiding this. He answered it.
"Hello, Auntie, this is Yang Fan," he said, steadying himself.
"Yang Fan, dear, this girl Yun'er... you came to Tianhai and she didn't even bring you home? She's out running wild all day!"
"Auntie, Yun'er is at a class reunion, and I'm just accompanying her."
...
After chatting with his mother-in-law for a while, he realized her tone wasn't particularly severe. It was the father-in-law he was worried about—that was going to be a tough hurdle!
He sighed and went to the front desk to ask for the manager's office. Dealing with business would be better than this reunion.
Up on the eighth floor, the person Yang Fan had bumped into earlier was Liang He, a man who had been pursuing Wang Yun. He was something of a wealthy second-generation.
He had liked Wang Yun since their freshman year, pursuing her persistently just as Yang Fan had pursued Bai Tiantian.
In reality, he was worse off than Yang Fan. At least when Yang Fan called Bai Tiantian, she would pick up. But when Liang He called Wang Yun, she wouldn't answer at all.
As the saying goes, love can turn to hate. This time, he was determined to win Wang Yun over.
Naturally, he had ruled out drugging or force—Wang Yun was a SWAT officer, which made such things difficult to handle.
So, he chose a more sophisticated method: make Wang Yun owe him a massive debt. He figured she wouldn't be able to refuse him then. Besides, he had the money.
Using his own strength to exploit her weakness—how much money could a small-time SWAT officer have? Liang He wasn't stupid; he had investigated for a long time for this day.
After entering, he saw the group at Wang Yun's table.
"Monitor Liang, long time no see."
"Indeed. Everyone, it's been over half a year, so I decided to gather everyone together!" Liang He smiled as he greeted the others, though his attention remained fixed on Wang Yun's table.
She had become even more beautiful and elegant over the past six months.
And a beauty like this—he was determined to have her!
After some small talk, he took the opportunity to sit at Wang Yun's table.
"Is that you, Yun'er? I called you a few times, but you didn't pick up. I thought you weren't coming."
"The monitor is hosting, how could Wang Yun not come?" Xiaoyu said from the side.
"She must be very busy. I told you back then, Yun'er, not to join the SWAT team," Liang He said with a smile.
"My name is Wang Yun. I'd appreciate it if you'd call me Wang Yun from now on."
