Chapter 157: The Big Family Dividing Up the Property
“Mr. Yang, are you saying you want to work with me?”
“Have your Liang family establish another company and publicly attract investors to develop Mount Mowang. Before long, the big fish will start biting! When that happens, I guarantee that within a year, your family’s assets will exceed five hundred million!”
Liang He’s eyes widened. Five hundred million—what kind of fortune was that?
“Thank you for giving us this opportunity, Mr. Yang!”
A glint flashed in Yang Fan’s eyes. The net had already been cast; all that remained was to wait for the fish to swim into it.
“As for the development of Mount Mowang, come up with a proposal as soon as possible. Once we finalize it, we can begin attracting investors.”
“Of course! Rest assured, Mr. Yang!” Liang He replied excitedly.
“And one more thing. Don’t waste money like this in the future. If you really have money to spare, use it to support impoverished students and orphans. That would be far more meaningful.”
“I understand, Mr. Yang. I’ll keep that in mind from now on.”
“Good. Hanfu Palace is quite decent. I spoke with the owner last time. Your Liang family could consider investing here as well. The returns are actually rather substantial. You can go directly to the chairman of Hanfu Palace.”
“Thank you, Mr. Yang.”
Liang He grew excited again. Of course, this was merely something Yang Fan and the others had no intention of investing in. After thinking it over, Yang Fan had decided that the place held little value.
Forget Fanmei—even Jiu and the others could afford to buy it.
What Yang Fan casually discarded was, to the Liang family, a tremendous stroke of fortune.
“All right. Have them pack up a full table of dishes for me. As for the rest, invite your classmates or employees here for a meal. That would be far better than treating me. I can’t eat all this by myself.”
“All right!”
Liang He hurriedly agreed, then went to the door and called in a server to pack up the food.
Yang Fan wiped his mouth and hands with a tissue and slipped the card into his pocket. There was no reason to refuse something offered for free.
“Mr. Yang, I’ll see you downstairs!”
“No need. Just have one of the servers carry the packed food to my car.” Yang Fan smiled.
“I have plenty of strength. It’s no trouble!” Liang He said.
He was determined to escort Yang Fan personally.
Yang Fan said nothing more. He called over the female designated driver, and the three of them went downstairs.
Beside the car, Liang He carried the packed food over and placed it inside. Everything had been sealed in disposable containers, so it would not spill.
“That’s far enough. You can go back now!” Yang Fan waved at Liang He, got into the car, and the female driver started the engine.
Liang He watched Yang Fan drive away. Overcome with excitement, he immediately called his father. This was wonderful news for the Liang family.
Inside the car—
“Where would you like to go, Mr. Yang?”
“Mount Mowang,” Yang Fan replied. After a moment’s thought, he added, “By the way, when they called you over, did they say you were hired for a full day?”
“Yes, a full day.”
“Good.”
Yang Fan first called Young Master Song to ask how things were progressing between him and the woman he had been seeing.
When he learned that the two couples were currently drinking tea at a café, he smiled. They were actually treating it like a blind date. Everything was already settled—what was the point of going through the motions? They might as well skip straight to the part where the rice was cooked.
He then had Xiaoyu take the phone. Yang Fan told her not to sit foolishly in the café any longer. They could either go shopping or bring the man home and get straight to business.
The key was speed. As the saying went, nothing could stand against speed.
He called Zhang Chen and Xu Tao as well, only to find that they were still asleep. Yang Fan ordered them to get up immediately. It was broad daylight—why were they still sleeping?
After finally rousing them, Yang Fan felt exceptionally pleased.
“By the way, I still don’t know your name.”
“We met by chance. Why bother learning each other’s names? Besides, today will be my last day working as a designated driver.” The girl smiled.
“Then I’m rather honored. If you’re no longer going to be a designated driver, what are you planning to do?”
“Guess.”
“I’m afraid I can’t.”
“If you help me with something, I’ll tell you what I’m going to do next.”
“What is it? Tell me. I love helping people.”
“All right!” the girl replied, continuing to drive.
“What kind of favor?”
“I’ll tell you in a moment. I’m waiting for a text message. Is that all right?”
“Of course.”
Yang Fan had intended to chat with her a little longer, but then Huo Xinxie called.
“Chief, can’t you let me enjoy my vacation in peace?” Yang Fan complained.
“Can’t I call you for a chat?”
“Of course you can. Would I dare say otherwise?”
“When you come back, you have to bring me a gift. Oh, and Yang Xin wants to speak with you.”
Huo Xinxie was at the Women’s Academy. Xia Yufei was away, so she had temporarily taken over as its president. In any case, she was already very familiar with the girls.
“Yang Xin!” Yang Fan called.
“Master, we all miss you. Come back soon.”
“Be good. I’ll be back in a few days. When I return, I’ll bring gifts for all of you.”
“I want a gift too,” Huo Xinxie said.
“You’re even richer than I am, and you still want a gift?”
…
After half an hour on the road, they arrived at Mount Mowang.
Yang Fan was still on the phone. He pointed ahead, and the girl continued driving up the mountain.
He was heading for the manor at the summit, located atop the highest peak in the Mount Mowang range. From there, the entire mountain range could be seen in full.
When they reached the middle of the mountain, Yang Fan ended the call.
“Was that your wife calling?”
“Do you think a wife would stay on the phone with her husband for that long? It was my superior.”
“Do you think that once people get married, they eventually grow tired of each other?” the girl asked.
“Not necessarily.”
“People are like that. Those without partners envy people who have them. Those with partners envy married couples. And married couples, in turn, think it would be better not to marry at all.”
Yang Fan was speechless. She was practically a psychologist. It was a real shame she had not become a psychiatrist.
“What about you? Which kind are you?”
“Me? Which kind do you think I am?” the girl asked.
“I can’t tell. Who knows whether you’re married or not?”
“I want to get married. It’s just a dream for now.”
“How could that be? You’re so beautiful. There must be dozens of men pursuing you, if not hundreds.”
“Then you’ve guessed wrong.”
The two of them continued chatting until they reached the summit. The place was open and empty, with a solitary manor standing proudly upon it.
Yang Fan had the girl drive directly into the manor. He took a long string of keys from the document pouch behind the seat and got out.
He did not go inside immediately. Instead, he stood outside the manor and looked out over Mount Mowang. Eight peaks rose majestically in the distance.
“It’s beautiful here,” the girl said.
“Isn’t it? In the future, this place will be developed into a purely natural tourist destination,” Yang Fan replied.
“You’ll have to come here often once that happens. Bring your husband—or your boyfriend.”
The girl merely smiled.
“Ring, ring! Ring, ring!”
At that moment, her phone began to ring.
Yang Fan had no intention of prying into her private affairs. He watched as she ended the call, then tossed the phone straight down the mountain.
“What happened?” he asked.
“Nothing. I’m just saying goodbye to the past.” The girl was still smiling.
