Chapter 79: Don't Waste My Time with Such Nonsense!
In the afternoon, Yang Fan visited the Second Women's Academy, located in the upscale neighborhood where Wu Qian once lived. Since the murder occurred here, many residents had sold their apartments. Wealthy people are particularly superstitious about such matters, and the person who bought their properties was Yang Fan. The conditions here were quite good; it was a high-end community with a park below, offering a pleasant environment.
Yang Fan had transferred all his puppets to ensure safety here, especially his deadly weapon, Wang Yong, and several others whom he had once sent to Redemption. When Yang Fan arrived, the girls were lined up in the park's grand plaza, organized by classes—performers, streamers, models. This group, if released into the world, would surely astonish an entire era.
The main instructors here were professionals Yang Fan had hired at high salaries, and every other night, a batch of them would go to the Women's Academy to study. No man was allowed to enter the premises; this was for their protection, to give them a chance to truly reform.
Li Shuwei agreed with this approach, reasoning that if they were treated the same as before, what would distinguish them from the Redemption days?
"Principal Dai!" Yang Fan called out.
"Mr. Yang, you've arrived."
Yang Fan nodded, noting the lingering fear in the girls' eyes—they were still afraid of him.
"It's the New Year. I came to see them, hoping they'll soon clear their names."
"They will," Principal Dai replied. "Look, we've formed the 'Other Shore Flower' girl group—eight teams. They can perform as a collective or individually!"
"That's a good idea—easier to manage as groups," Yang Fan remarked.
"Exactly!" Principal Dai smiled, satisfied with her important role here.
"I'm going on a business trip in a few days. Please look after things. If you need anything, talk directly to Haoyu."
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to train them into the most perfect girl group. With the money we earn, the children in the First Women's Academy will have a better life."
Yang Fan smiled, watched the lineup for a while longer, then left with Lin Ruo and Liu Haoyu.
In the car, he video-called his parents and little sister. He had hired a tutor for his sister, but her playful nature persisted; it was as if the tutor made no difference, and her grades had even slipped. Yang Fan was astonished.
At home, things were as usual. His father had taken charge of a construction crew, which allowed Yang Fan some peace of mind—a new year, a new beginning.
"Lin Ruo, the New Year's here. You should be nicer to me!" Yang Fan said after ending the call.
"Am I not nice enough to you? When you go out on your escapades, don't I always turn a blind eye? Otherwise, I'd drag you back in the middle of the night!"
"I meant 'nice' in another sense," Yang Fan replied.
"What do you mean?"
"Forget it, I'd rather not say it—you'd just get angry again." Yang Fan thought better of teasing her; she was sensitive about such matters.
"I knew it, you're a scoundrel, still dreaming of sharing a bed, aren't you?"
"All men do," Yang Fan muttered, especially with beauties like you and Lin Xi—twins, no less.
"Keep dreaming, then," Lin Ruo said.
Yang Fan laughed and shook his head. Shamelessness is invincible; he had finally left her speechless.
"By the way, your birthday is coming up. I'll give you a spectacular birthday gift!"
"Give it to my sister instead. Rather than flattering me, focus on being good to Lin Xi!"
"Yours is yours, Lin Xi's is Lin Xi's—they're not the same!" Yang Fan insisted.
"I don't need it."
"But I need to give it to you—who knows, maybe you'll be so moved, you'll finally give yourself to me!" Yang Fan joked.
"Keep dreaming. Tell me, how many are already around you? Would you die if you stopped scheming to win me over?" Lin Ruo said, expressionless.
"I told you, it's the unattainable that stirs the heart. How about this: let's have a drink, then when you're drunk—"
"You think I would ever get drunk?" Lin Ruo retorted coldly.
"You could pretend! Anyway, after you're drunk, who knows what might happen between us? The next day, neither of us would remember!"
"How can you be so shameless? The lengths you go to get me are truly extraordinary!" Lin Ruo sighed.
Up ahead was a café; Lin Ruo parked directly.
"Sis, I said 'drink'!"
"Let me wake you up first. Stop daydreaming—are you still stuck in last night's dream?" Lin Ruo finished parking.
Yang Fan got out.
It was a couples' café, with soft music and pairs sitting together, engaged in ambiguous conversations.
Yang Fan sat gloomily in a corner. Lin Ruo ordered him four cups of coffee; after drinking these, sleep would be impossible tonight.
"Sis, I need to sleep tonight!"
"This is to wake you up, so you stop dreaming. After you finish these coffees, you can write a self-reflection facing the wall."
"What should I write? That I'm always thinking about Lin Ruo?" Yang Fan blinked hard.
"Write that you should treat Lin Xi well!"
"Whatever!" Yang Fan pouted, frustrated, and drank a cup in one go. His face twisted instantly—it was unbearably bitter, and she hadn't added any sugar!
Lin Ruo was icy cold—serves you right for being such a rascal!
"Sis, can I ask you a very private question?"
"Is it about the child? Yes, there is one."
"Whose is it?"
"Is it any of your business? Tomorrow I'll just pick someone at random to have it with, and end your fantasies!"
Yang Fan was shocked, immediately moving next to Lin Ruo. "Sis, don't you dare do that, really!"
"Go back to your seat!"
Yang Fan hesitated but returned.
"Really, don't do anything rash!" Yang Fan was close to tears—how could she even think of such a thing?
Lin Ruo ignored him.
"You can't put a green hat on me!"
"Who said I would?" Lin Ruo kicked him under the table and added, "Tell me, other than you, have I ever been ambiguous with any man? You think I'm like you—if you even win over your boss, you'll really have three wives and four concubines."
"Tell me, how did I ever fall in love with you..."
Lin Ruo suddenly froze, anger boiling over. Yang Fan had provoked her so much, she'd even blurted out her true feelings.
Yang Fan didn't dare tease her further and sipped his coffee. Only the music echoed around them.
"In the future, I must keep a close eye on you—your idea of having a child with someone else is terrifying!" Yang Fan shuddered.
"Fine, watch all you want. Just don't mind if I get in your way when you're out on your escapades," Lin Ruo replied calmly.
He received a call from Huo Xinxie, summoning him to the SWAT team tomorrow. Yang Fan was exasperated—even the New Year's holiday couldn't be spent in peace.
"Wish you luck in winning over your boss, too!"
"I'd much rather move you—and then put a ring on your finger myself."
"Don't waste your breath anymore."
