Chapter 125: Wanted: Sasuke Uchiha
“Is that so…” Luke snorted coldly. He was never a saint, certainly not as soft-hearted as Daredevil.
Nobu Yoshioka, clad in a full ninja outfit and wielding a katana, charged forward with sharp eyes. Yet, he only managed to close the distance to within three steps of Luke.
A swift sword draw and slash!
Under the cloak of night, Yoshioka didn’t even catch sight of Luke’s sword movement. Not to mention, the Shadowless Sword—Erenogen—left no trace to follow.
Luke held his sword stance quietly, striking a pose for show.
With a clatter, Yoshioka’s katana snapped in two and clattered to the ground.
“The sword… so fast…” Yoshioka murmured with difficulty, before his body was cleaved in two at the waist. Both halves collapsed onto the ground.
Dark blood immediately spilled across the floor.
Luke sheathed the Shadowless Sword and approached, pinching his nose as he searched Yoshioka’s body thoroughly. Inspecting a fallen foe was a habit of seasoned travelers through time.
However, all he found was a bloodstained piece of paper. Nothing else.
Luke was momentarily speechless. Judging by the man’s tone, Yoshioka held a respectable position in the Hand Association. At least a minor boss—yet so poor?
By the streetlamp’s light, Luke examined the paper more closely. It was a map, apparently a district map of a part of New York City.
“Huh?”
He uttered a soft sound of surprise as he noticed two characters written in the center of the map.
In Chinese characters: Hei Kong.
“Hei Kong?” Luke raised an eyebrow.
Folding the map, he approached Daredevil and Spider-Man.
Spider-Man had already helped Daredevil to his feet. Daredevil was badly wounded, with multiple gashes and even a katana wound beneath his shoulder blade. He was in rough shape.
Luke shoved the Hei Kong map into Daredevil’s hand. “We’re leaving. Can you get back on your own?”
Daredevil nodded silently, saying nothing.
He watched quietly as Luke was hoisted onto Spider-Man’s back. Together, they vanished into the night, scaling walls with ease.
Daredevil sighed, glanced down at the map Luke had given him, pocketed it, then limped off, quickly disappearing into the dark alley.
…
Several days later, on an evening,
Matt suddenly returned home with Luke’s adoptive father, Foggy, to visit.
Matt stayed for dinner.
As usual, Matt chatted casually with Foggy and Karen over the meal. Sometimes discussing the law firm’s affairs, other times bantering about trivial matters, like asking about amusing incidents at Luke’s school.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary by the time Matt left.
In the bedroom upstairs, Luke stood by the window, watching Matt gradually disappear into the distance, his face thoughtful.
Walking home, Matt was certain tonight: Luke’s identity was confirmed. The aura around him was exactly as it had been that night. His senses did not deceive him. Yet, he chose not to reveal it.
Matt wished to keep his own secret as Daredevil. Only a handful knew, including Luke’s adoptive parents.
What Matt did not realize was that Luke was also one of those few in the know.
Tapping his cane along the road, Matt felt a surge of mixed emotions.
By now, he understood that Luke had secretly saved him twice.
During that gang fight, he sensed a tiny figure inside a small mech—only the urgency of the moment prevented him from confirming. He had assumed it was the dwarf who opposed the gang.
But now it seemed that dwarf was actually his little nephew in disguise.
Matt couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought.
“Though the methods were a bit ruthless,” Matt thought. If given the chance, he should educate Luke, teach him that even with power, killing is wrong.
And that talkative kid who could shoot webs left a deep impression on Matt as well.
“Luke’s friend? I never expected Foggy and Karen to adopt such an extraordinary little guy…”
Smiling faintly, Matt quickened his pace toward home. Tonight, he planned to investigate the location marked on the map. This clue seemed crucial.
…
Deep within New York, in a hidden underground facility,
A naked man suddenly awoke, sitting upright from a pool of thick blood.
His eyes widened in shock and confusion, his chest heaving rapidly.
After a moment, his breathing steadied, and the confusion in his eyes faded, replaced by a cold, deep chill.
“Uchiha Sasuke!”
The man gritted his teeth as he climbed out of the blood pool, his body soaked with filthy blood cascading over numerous scars.
Across his abdomen was a gruesome new wound—stitched up like a grotesque gash, encircled by a horrid horizontal scar.
This man was Nobu Yoshioka.
He had come back to life again. But this was just one of countless resurrections.
This time, however, he bore the shame of defeat—the one who bested him was a peerless master of swordsmanship.
For years, he had never desired revenge so fiercely. He vowed to defeat this opponent by any means necessary and restore his honor.
Not long after, a high-value bounty notice spread throughout New York’s underworld.
Underground casinos, fight clubs, night venues, gangs—everyone had heard the name.
The masked dwarf, rumored to be that last gambling god, was revealed to be Uchiha Sasuke!
His head was worth ten million dollars!
For a time, countless desperados became mad with greed over the enormous bounty.
New York’s underworld erupted once again…
…
That day, Luke noticed Matt Murdock’s favorability toward him had mysteriously increased by over twenty points, now reaching fifty—halfway to unlocking one of Daredevil’s skills.
He pondered long but could not pinpoint the cause.
Several possibilities arose, including the blind man suspecting his identity.
Yet, Luke’s adoptive parents remained oblivious; everything seemed normal.
Luke did not dwell on it, for a sudden, unprecedented unease had plagued him these days, robbing him of peace and rest.
“Could it be…” Luke slowly began to suspect.
If he was right, the battle for New York was imminent.
…
Under the night sky, a helicopter roared swiftly toward a secret base.
Inside, a broadcast sounded: “Attention all personnel, retreat orders confirmed. Proceed immediately to designated evacuation points. Attention all, evacuate now, evacuate now!”
The helicopter gently touched down on the pad. Before it fully stopped, the cabin door opened.
Agent Hill leapt down lightly, followed calmly by a man in a black trench coat.
Agent Coulson, who had been waiting, approached.
“How bad is it?” the man in black asked without preamble.
Coulson removed his sunglasses. “Worst part is, we have no idea what we’re dealing with.”
They spoke as they hurried into the base, taking an elevator deep underground.
Below this facility, they researched the Tesseract.
Not long ago, the long-dormant Tesseract suddenly exhibited strange changes.
Sensing trouble, the man in black had rushed here immediately.
