Chapter 132: The God of Hammers vs. The Menace
The Quinjet was on its return flight, escorting Loki. Luke, piloting his Warlord mech, followed closely behind. He had volunteered for the arduous task of transporting Loki’s scepter.
Resisting the urge to smash the scepter mid-flight to seize the gemstone inside was indeed a difficult task. However, knowing that the scepter was the only key capable of shutting down the portal opened by the Tesseract, he held back.
His spider-sense had been warning him frantically. The situation was grave. It seemed that even though he had altered the plot, it was to no avail; the sense of unease in his heart felt even more intense than before the changes.
"Where is the missing link? Is it not over yet? Where is the oversight?" Luke lay in the cockpit, brow furrowed, his thoughts restless.
Knowing the plot is both the blessing and the curse of a transmigrator. When the plot deviates from its course and the cause cannot be found, while everyone else remains oblivious, the transmigrator is left worrying enough to lose their hair.
On either side of the Warlord, two Tornado fighters acted as escorts, flying steadily. Up ahead, beyond the Quinjet, flashes of lightning suddenly illuminated the night sky, even though there wasn't a single dark cloud in sight.
Inside the Quinjet.
Loki sat quietly, his hands bound behind his back.
Steve glanced at him, then approached Tony with a serious expression, lowering his voice. "Something’s not right."
"What? The reindeer surrendered too easily?" Tony said dismissively. He was still wearing his Mark armor, though his faceplate was retracted.
"I don't think it's that simple. This guy is powerful," Steve whispered. He had fought Loki directly and could sense that Loki was capable of much more than this.
"Your observation skills aren't bad for an old man," Tony shrugged. He hadn't missed it either, but he didn't know what Loki was up to.
The sound of thunder outside the cabin grew louder. Lightning struck in succession, piercing the cloudless sky like silver dragons.
Black Widow frowned. "Where is this lightning coming from?" Her instruments showed clear, cloudless skies ahead; there shouldn't be any thunderstorms.
Loki seemed moved. He peered toward the lightning-filled horizon, his eyebrows arching involuntarily.
"What? Are you afraid of lightning?" Steve asked Loki.
Loki replied weakly, "I'm not fond of the guy who brings the thunder."
No sooner had he spoken than the thunder rolled again. Suddenly, everyone heard a faint thud on the roof of the aircraft, as if something had landed on it.
Tony’s expression changed. He immediately lowered his faceplate, opened the cabin door, and prepared to investigate. But just as the door opened, a figure leaped down, stepped into the cabin in two strides, knocked Tony over with a hammer, and then grabbed Loki. Without a word, he tucked Loki under his arm and prepared to jump out, spinning his hammer as he did...
*Clang.*
A 1.2-meter-tall mech landed and stepped into the cabin.
The hammer-wielder, blocked by the newcomer, raised his weapon to strike, but the small mech swiftly ducked and lunged forward, executing a devilish maneuver with its feet.
Diving Gut Punch!
Another metallic *clang* rang out. The punch landed "accurately" in the hammer-wielder's groin. The man let out a shrill, inhuman cry and dropped to one knee.
The three men watching—Loki, Steve, and Tony—felt their eyelids twitch uncontrollably.
Black Widow, who was piloting the plane, turned around just in time to see this. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips before she closed the cabin door.
After a brief moment of shock, Tony raised his repulsor, aiming it at the intruder. "Don't move, unless you want your head blown off." As he spoke, Tony couldn't help but feel a chill in his own groin area.
The hatch of the 1.2-meter-tall mech slid open, and Luke stepped out, clapping his small hands.
Steve’s eyelids twitched again, and he instinctively took a half-step away from Luke.
As for the intruder, he remained on one knee, gasping for air, unable to speak for a long time.
"Typical Asgardian, actually making the sound of metal colliding..." Luke thought, his small face wearing a strange expression as he looked at Thor, the God of Thunder.
Seeing all that lightning earlier, he had known this guy was coming. He also knew how the plot would unfold: Thor would intercept Loki, they would have a moment of brotherly bonding, then Thor would fight Tony, and finally, after being "persuaded" by Captain America's prowess, he would return to the Helicarrier.
Going in circles was a waste of time. Luke, desperate to get back and dismantle the scepter, had no patience for this. So, he had just flown his Tornado over.
If Iron Man was the representative of science in the Marvel world, then Thor was the representative of mythology. He had to admit, as a god, Thor’s physique was extraordinary; to take such a heavy punch and only be gasping for air—no wonder Jane Foster was so smitten the moment she saw him.
After the men present waited sympathetically for a while, Thor finally managed to stand up again. Little Thor, however, did not.
The God of Hammer was livid, his face a deep, bruised purple. Fury surged within him, but when he saw that the one who had hit him was a child not even as tall as his thigh, Thor’s temper instantly vanished. It was a point of pride for the God of Hammer never to strike women or children.
"Let me take Loki! You have no idea what you are doing!" Thor growled irritably. He lifted his foot to walk toward Loki.
"Stay back, or I'll fire," Tony said, his palms glowing.
"We're still on the plane," Black Widow reminded him from the cockpit.
Tony hesitated for a moment, then lowered his arms. He lifted his faceplate and looked at Thor sternly. "I don't care who you are; this man is a dangerous criminal. If you insist on taking him, you're an enemy."
"I have questions for him; this is an Asgardian matter. It has nothing to do with you," Thor’s voice boomed like a bell.
"It certainly has to do with us. He killed many people and is plotting an unknown agenda. If you try anything else, I'll count you as one of them," Tony lowered his faceplate and raised his palms again.
"The Tesseract does not belong to you; it is Asgardian. Let me take Loki, and I will take the Tesseract and leave..."
Luke, who had been silent, was having none of it. He was already delayed in getting back to dismantle the scepter, and now this guy wanted to take the Tesseract too?
"If you keep blathering, I'll knock you out," Luke said, waving his small fist in a threat that lacked any real intimidation.
Thor looked at him and laughed heartily. "I am Thor Odinson, Prince of Asgard. Little one, if you can knock me out, I will..."
Without a second thought, Luke pulled out an Adamantium brick.
Street Fighter Brick Smash!
Thor collapsed instantly, his face peaceful...
Luke put away the brick and shrugged. "Actually, I should have listened to what he was going to say."
Loki, Tony, and Steve were left utterly dumbfounded.
God of Thunder vs. Bratty Kid—the bratty kid won.
