Chapter 96: Her Highness the Princess
Happy didn’t come. He wasn’t here today to sell hamburgers to the dog magnate.
After selling out all two hundred sets of hamburgers he had prepared, Luke packed up the food cart and pondered aloud, “According to the story, Tony shouldn’t be leaving New York right now. Could it be that he’s discovered me?”
Though the thought crossed his mind, Luke didn’t dwell on it much; after all, the two of them were bound to confront each other sooner or later.
When the food cart returned, Skye was nowhere to be found—she had probably gone back to the apartment. The warehouse was still uninhabitable at night, and now that autumn had arrived, the area near the suburbs of New York experienced significant temperature swings between day and night.
Luke and Peter Parker finished tidying up, ready to head home. Just then, they heard a knock at the warehouse door.
Luke frowned, wondering if it was Skye returning.
“Master, there’s a little girl outside,” Christina spoke up at the right moment.
“A little girl?”
Curious, Luke walked over and pushed open the warehouse door.
Outside stood a blonde girl, taller than him by quite a bit.
The moment he laid eyes on her, Luke’s eyes brightened involuntarily, a sense of surprise stirring within him: such a beautiful little girl.
Her hair was a radiant golden cascade, silky and smooth like strands of molten silk. Amidst the long golden locks, a two-finger-wide horizontal black stripe ran through, lending her hair an especially distinctive look.
As the door opened, her clear, lively sapphire eyes fixed on Luke, appraising him from head to toe.
Her delicate face was marked by a noble nose and thin, slightly pursed red lips—she seemed to be silently judging him.
There was an indescribable aura about this little girl, one Luke rarely encountered in someone her age.
No one could deny that before him stood a true beauty in the making.
“Who are you looking for?” Luke asked, surprised.
“Pleased to meet you. My name is Christine Armaguilin,” the girl spoke crisply, her voice melodious and charming.
“Huh? Could you spell that?” Luke asked, thoroughly puzzled—names like hers were uncommon.
“You may call me Your Highness, the Princess,” Crystal lifted her chin slightly and said.
“Huh?”
“Call me Your Highness, the Princess,” Crystal repeated serenely, her youthful face composed.
If Luke hadn’t seen a gigantic bulldog stride out beside her, he wouldn’t have been able to place who this girl was.
Seeing such a monstrously large dog so brazenly in broad daylight, a name immediately flashed through his mind: Tetanus.
That massive dog from the Inhuman clan, gifted with spatial teleportation powers.
With that, the identity of the little girl before him became unmistakably clear.
“You’re Crystal?”
Only Crystal was inseparable from Tetanus. One of the royal members of the Inhuman tribe. No wonder she wanted him to call her princess.
“Only those who know me well call me Crystal. You should address me as Princess Armaguilin,” the delicate girl’s slender brows furrowed slightly, puzzled as to why this strange boy would know her name.
Luke found it even stranger. Weren’t the Inhumans supposed to be on the moon? How had they come to Earth—and even ended up here with him?
“Huh?” Luke suddenly froze, then his expression grew strange.
It seemed he had done something to the moon...
“No way, did I really blow up the moon?” He instinctively looked up at the sky. Well, it was still daytime, and the moon was nowhere to be seen.
“You seem to know where I come from,” Crystal’s sharp gaze fixed on Luke. She was growing increasingly suspicious—this Earthling seemed to know about the existence of the Inhumans!
In her mind, Crystal wondered: Should I capture him for questioning?
Before she left, her sister, Queen Medusa, had repeatedly warned her to be cautious around Earthlings. She was told that human society was unaware of the Inhumans’ existence, and if her identity were discovered, it could bring her harm.
Another possibility was that humans had already found out about Attilan on the moon. Perhaps the previous attack had been deliberate.
Crystal needed to judge for herself which was true.
Her judgment would determine whether Attilan would retaliate against Earth.
“You are Princess Crystal of the Inhumans, right?” Luke, who had been thinking things through, suddenly smiled and said with a harmless grin.
“Why do you know so much?” Crystal asked, her eyes filled with doubt.
This little boy was younger than her, and Crystal sensed no threat from him: he was an ordinary human without any powers. Because of this, she hadn’t used her abilities.
“May I ask why you’re here, Princess Crystal?” Luke sought to assess the situation first.
If she had come to confront him, he would need to weigh his options.
Should he play dumb and pretend ignorance?
Or... blame Tony entirely? That seemed like a good idea.
“Not long ago, Earth launched an attack against us. Although it missed its target, I came to investigate. I saw a robot—it was responsible. Tetanus brought me here. Do you know anything about that machine? Tell me,” Crystal said in a commanding tone.
Since the other party knew who she was, Crystal had no reason to hide anything.
“I know him! Of course I do!” Luke nodded immediately. “His name is Tony Stark. That guy is rotten to the core! Yes, it was him. I saw it with my own eyes.”
“Oh? So you know him? Can you help me find him?” Crystal breathed a sigh of relief—she had finally found a lead. Tetanus could only teleport her to a general location; she still had to find more clues herself.
“Absolutely! I think we can be friends. I’m not exactly on friendly terms with that guy either.” Luke shamelessly accused the other, without any qualms. “What you saw was the fight between him and me that day. I was trying to stop him. Unfortunately, he insisted on going through with it—he even targeted the moon! That’s just despicable. Tony Stark is an extremely arrogant fellow.”
“What’s your name?” Crystal asked, looking at him.
“You can call me Luke.”
“Luke, if you help me find this person, I can represent the Inhumans and accept you as a friend,” Crystal said with a serene smile.
“Really?” Luke looked delighted.
“Of course. I am a princess. I have that right,” Crystal said proudly.
“Wow, you’re actually a princess. Hello, hello, Your Highness! It’s an honor to meet you,” Luke bowed like a gentleman, thinking to himself that Crystal really liked flattery. Had she been living on the moon too long?
It made sense—there were only a handful of people on the moon, and the entire city of Attilan had very few Inhumans. Spending all day in such a place, it would be remarkable if she didn’t develop some social quirks.
Crystal lifted her chin slightly, clearly pleased with Luke’s attitude. He was the first human she had encountered since arriving on Earth.
She thought her sister Medusa was mistaken—Earthlings should be quite friendly.
Otherwise, how else could she have so easily met such a decent person?
