This is the martial skill of a Saint!
Let us turn back the clock a little, to the moment after Joss had flawlessly completed the first round of testing.
After leaving the testing chamber, Joss, brimming with excitement, sought out a solitary corner to examine his system panel. Though he often felt the system was less than generous, having just achieved a perfect score thanks to the power of the Lord of Time, he now held a measure of anticipation for what it might offer.
This time, the reward did not disappoint. The moment his eyes fell upon the words displayed on the system panel, Joss could not help but leap up in exhilaration.
Congratulations, you have obtained an SSR-level ability—Diamond Star Fist.
“No matter how absurd it sometimes seems, a system is a system after all!” Joss’s spirits soared. The Diamond Star Fist, a martial art from the Saint Seiya universe, granted direct control over the power of absolute zero!
With such a divine technique at his disposal, Joss dared to claim that, within the entire Marvel cinematic universe, save for the Mad Titan himself, any other formidable opponent would meet a tragic end before him!
With this thought, Joss wasted no time and immediately attempted to unleash the Diamond Star Fist.
All the knowledge flooded into his mind from the system. The intricate and challenging technique was smooth and effortless in his hands, even more refined than its original wielder, Hyoga! In the depths of his consciousness, Joss sensed the presence of the so-called microcosm—the vast, surging might that belonged to the stars.
Now, as the present moment returned, Joss had already passed by Natasha and Nick Fury, striding alone toward Jason, who was wreaking havoc in all directions.
As she watched the man before her, Natasha couldn’t help but discern a hint of melancholy in Joss’s silhouette, as if he could see through the truths of life itself.
“Strange… How does someone so unreliable possess such an aura of strength?” Natasha was quietly startled, but before she could voice her thoughts, Joss had already raised his foot and walked toward Jason.
“Joss!” Jason roared furiously upon seeing him.
After transforming with the serum, Jason appeared to have lost most of his reason—not like Abomination, but more akin to the Hulk. Yet he still remembered Joss’s earlier provocation, and seeing him now, he raised his massive fist and swung it down.
The fist, nearly half the size of Joss’s body, was not something he intended to test for its power.
“I hope you both keep everything you’ve seen today to yourselves and never speak of it to anyone!”
Of those present, only Natasha and Nick Fury remained conscious, so Joss’s words were clearly directed at them. Before they could respond, his gaze grew sharp, and his hands lifted with a graceful, boneless ease.
“Come, Jason. Perhaps this is the first and last time I shall use this power. May you die here with honor.”
Joss crouched low, his head bowed, eyes focused inward, and his right hand moved with a stunning elegance, rising upward. As his right hand swept like a wing, his left arm followed, and for a moment, his hands fluttered like the wings of a white bird, as if performing the most exquisite dance.
Suddenly, Joss’s body surged upward, both hands raised to the sky, and his right leg lifted, completing the stance known as ‘Golden Rooster Standing Alone.’
In that posture, his hands continued to flutter, mysterious lights gathered around him, making him shine like a star in the heavens. For an instant, it seemed the entire world was captivated by Joss; gunfire, explosions, curses—all vanished. In everyone’s eyes, only Joss remained, performing the chilling dance of the white bird.
Abruptly, his stance shifted; his right hand settled at his waist, his left hand reached forward, adopting an attacking pose.
“Take this, Jason—this is my final…”
As Joss’s aura reached its peak, light gathered upon his right fist, poised but not yet released. His eyes, cold as the polar glaciers, fixed upon his enemy with endless chill.
“Diamond Star Fist!”
With a thunderous shout, Joss’s right hand struck out, the light on his fist exploding throughout the room, enveloping Jason completely!
…
…
…
“Joss, what are you doing?” After a few seconds of silence, Nick Fury finally spoke, unable to contain his confusion.
“Hmm…?” Jason looked bewildered as well, seemingly unable to comprehend what Joss had just done.
Joss turned and gave Nick Fury a sorrowful look. “Don’t ask. Even if you did, I wouldn’t tell.”
With a faint sadness lingering, Joss’s eyes returned to the system panel, settling on the newly acquired SSR ability, Diamond Star Fist… and the small words beneath it.
Diamond Star Fist—Opening Move
Rarity: SSR
Effect: Perfectly reproduces the signature opening move of Saint Seiya’s Hyoga, the ‘Diamond Star Fist.’ During release, grants supernatural, dazzling light effects and an aura of cold air.
Yes, Hyoga’s Diamond Star Fist—opening move.
During his earlier break, Joss had tested it once. It did indeed reproduce the opening move in flawless detail, even the embarrassing pose, with light effects and cold air rendered perfectly.
But the problem was… he could never actually launch the attack!
It was like that time Joss had gone on a date with the class beauty. Things progressed to the point of “you know what,” both parties were eager for the indescribable. Protection was prepared, her relatives weren’t visiting, nothing from any cliché scenario would happen!
Then he woke up.
Strictly speaking, the two incidents weren’t closely related, but Joss couldn’t decide which was more frustrating, so he ranked them equally as number one.
In short, no matter what, he could never actually unleash the Diamond Star Fist, so he’d never intended to use it to kill Jason.
“What exactly are you doing?” Natasha called out, snapping Joss out of his reverie.
He scratched his head, sighed, and said, “Don’t worry about the details. Just leave this to me.”
The next moment, Joss raised his hands once again, performing the opening move of the Diamond Star Fist.
All those who have watched Saint Seiya know—when the opening move is performed, neither friend nor foe can act!
