Tsk, it cannot be detonated.
As it turned out, the previous chicken wings tasted so marvelous that Joss had absolutely nothing to do with it.
Under Tatsumaki's manipulation, the subsequent batches of wings reached an even higher level of culinary perfection. Everyone ate until their hands glistened with oil, and the single bag of wings meant for practice left them wanting more. Joss had to teleport back to the city to bring over even more food.
Boiled down to a single sentence: food roasted with Hellfire tasted simply incredible!
As for the underlying principles, even Johnny himself could not quite figure them out. He could only surmise that the "unpalatable" parts of the ingredients were also a form of sin, which were completely burned away by the Hellfire.
After all, Hellfire was exceptionally rare on Earth; what person in their right mind would use such a thing to barbecue meat?
On the other hand, while Hellfire was much more common among demons, their concept of fine dining was probably on par with Stargazy Pie. Who could ever expect them to whip up a decent dish?
Conversely, Tatsumaki genuinely had a deft hand at cooking. She casually mentioned that in the past, their daily rations were meager and entirely devoid of variety, so she had figured out ways to make the food taste better on her own, ultimately cultivating such a fine culinary skill.
Of course, while her cooking skills were impressive, her mouth wasn't idle for a second. For every three skewers that came off the grill, one went straight into her stomach. Thanks to her psychokinesis, she didn't need to roast the skewers by hand; she could simply lie to the side and effortlessly control a dozen iron sticks flipping back and forth in the air.
Lilith’s movements were crisp and swift, maintaining the assassin-like style instilled in her through rigorous training. However, the quantity she consumed completely violated the rule of eating solely for bodily nutrition.
Yet, beneath that placid expression as calm as still water, skewered meat after skewered meat was sent into her mouth—a remarkably bewitching sight.
As for Xiao Hei, her eating style could only be described as swallowing whole. With a single bite, skin, bones, and even the iron skewer went straight down her stomach, prompting Johnny to glance over repeatedly to see what kind of monster this creature truly was.
They ate like this for the entire afternoon. During this time, in order not to interrupt the process of eating and grilling, Johnny somehow managed to self-teach a portion of the Ghost Rider transformation technique!
One of his arms was extended straight toward the wire rack, transformed into a skeletal form while roaring Hellfire licked at the skewers above. In his other hand, he would occasionally pick up a skewer or take a swig of beer, living his absolute best life.
Seeing this trick of Johnny's, Joss—who shared similar elemental transformation abilities—flashed a sinister look in his eyes, maliciously wondering what kind of things would actually come out of this guy when he eventually went to the restroom after drinking so much beer.
Johnny remained oblivious to what Joss was thinking with that gaze, simply raising his beer bottle in acknowledgment and continuing to eat and drink on his own.
Ever since becoming the Ghost Rider, he had never truly understood what his power was or where his path should lead. He could only rely on beating up evildoers to barely uphold the justice in his heart, making him feel like he was still human.
But today, Johnny had an epiphany!
His future was definitely not that of a motorcycle rider, nor some Ghost Rider, but rather... a gas stove!
Well, he had just tried grilling a skewer himself, and the taste was even more repulsive than Joss's attempt, instantly stabbing his yet-to-awaken God of Cookery heart into a Shokugeki corpse.
Indeed, rather than trying to be a chef, he might as well peacefully stick to being a gas stove.
It was a pity Joss had no idea what was going on in his mind; otherwise, he would have strongly encouraged him, urging him to continue developing in this powerful profession where a chef could forge divine artifacts to rule the world close-up, or nurture divine beasts to run amok across other dimensions from afar.
After all, nowadays, if someone cooking didn't possess a supernatural ability, they wouldn't even have the face to call themselves a chef. If his Hellfire cooking technique was ever fortunate enough to cross over into the worlds of the God of Cookery or Cooking Master Boy, it might even fall a bit short.
A proper demon-hunting mission had halfway turned into a barbecue party. Had Tony Stark’s equipment delivery personnel not arrived, goodness knows how much longer these people would have kept eating.
"Alright, alright, let's stop here for now. We can eat all we want after getting this matter sorted out," Joss said indistinctly, patting his fourteen-percent-full belly.
"Huh? I think we can train a bit more. My ability to control Hellfire should still have room for improvement," Johnny said with a serious expression on his face.
After crunching and swallowing a few bones, Xiao Hei nodded in agreement and chimed in, "Besides, you guys are all stuffed right now. Will it be fine if we have to fight? Why don't we eat a few more skewers to help digest before we set off?"
"What on earth is eating a few more skewers to help digest supposed to mean?! Anyway, stop complaining. Hurry up and get this matter resolved so we can head home quickly." Pushing Xiao Hei's head down to retract her back into his body, Joss began inspecting the equipment sent by Tony.
"Speaking of which, you've been talking about equipment this whole time—what on earth is it? Is it holy water or something?" Johnny walked over with a curious look, wondering what could possibly be so valued by Joss.
"Holy water?! Why are you so foul-minded?" Joss turned his head in shock, looking at Johnny as if the latter had just uttered something utterly repulsive.
Johnny wore a blank expression, completely failing to understand why Joss was getting so worked up, other than gathering that the man apparently didn't plan on dousing demons with holy water.
Come to think of it, when dealing with demons, aside from directly using effects like Hellfire that could harm the soul, the best options were a series of items that restrained demons, such as crucifixes and holy water.
However, those items at best served to banish demons and could not truly kill them; at most, they provided mortals with the ability to protect themselves when encountering demons.
The corners of Joss's mouth curved upward into an arrogant yet devilish smile. He lifted his wrist and pulled an object roughly the size of a cantaloupe out of the delivered backpack.
It was a round sphere with a tiny crucifix on top. At first glance, it was impossible to tell what it actually was.
Facing Johnny's puzzled gaze, Joss pointed at the object in his hand and said, "Let me introduce this to you. It's called the Holy Hand Grenade. The specific method of use is that you assimilate it with your Hellfire and then throw it toward Yharnam town. After that, we turn around and run away at top speed."
Despite the overwhelming number of absurdities in Joss's words, Johnny immediately grasped the crucial point. He narrowed his eyes at Joss and said, "Did you forget that my girlfriend is still in there?"
