Laura
After Joss shouted loudly, Laura decisively stopped her attack... as if that would ever happen.
As one of the few most explosive personalities in Marvel, Wolverine is the very picture of a true Swede: if you can throw a punch, why bother talking; if you can kill, don’t leave survivors. And as his clone, Laura’s temper is hardly any better.
You shot at me without a second’s hesitation, and now you expect me to just stop fighting because you say so? Impossible.
Unlike Joss, who peppers his battles with banter, Laura attacks relentlessly without uttering a single word from start to finish.
Fortunately, X-23 is not Wolverine; she lacks that uncanny combat intuition and mastery. If Captain America built his reputation with a shield and fifty-fifty fights, Wolverine forged his legend through sheer battle prowess—a force of nature with no reasonable limits.
As the man who once chopped off Thanos’s left hand and snatched the gauntlet, Logan’s combat strength defies quantification.
Laura, however, is different. Her fighting ability is formidable, but she’s still operating mostly on instinct.
As a master of martial arts, Joss fears least those who attack in wild, unstructured flurries.
The three strongmen watched the two in combat, Laura’s metal claws flashing from hands and feet, swirling around Joss like a tornado of blades.
They knew that if this girl latched onto any of them, they’d be torn to shreds in less than ten seconds!
Yet the scene before them baffled them entirely.
Joss’s speed couldn’t match the girl; for every three attacks she launched, he managed one. Yet Laura’s attacks seemed preordained, as if he anticipated them all, dodging with ease and grace.
In contrast, every one of Joss’s attacks left huge wounds on Laura, making the trio’s scalps tingle.
Colossus had wanted to intervene, but seeing Laura’s wounds heal before his eyes, that notion died instantly.
At first glance, she seemed a monster ripe for the hunt, but on closer inspection, she was a death dealer—anyone who dared approach would meet their end.
Farewell!
Moreover, neither combatant possessed the overwhelming strength to dominate the other, leaving the outcome uncertain.
Purely from the angle of suppression, Laura had Joss on the defensive from start to finish. Yet, examining their injuries, Laura bore dozens of wounds while Joss remained untouched.
Laura’s blood and flesh covered the ground, turning the sand beneath them into a crimson mud.
Just as the trio expected Joss to win, they noticed a critical issue: stamina consumption.
Even with the strength of three eagles, Joss’s endurance couldn’t match Laura’s immortality.
Though uninjured, Joss’s breathing grew heavy, while Laura—despite her far worse injuries—remained unfazed, her movements undiminished.
“I want to see how much longer you can last. How much stamina do you have left?”
For the first time since their encounter, Laura spoke, her cold tone sending chills down the backs of the three strongmen.
Once this monstrous girl finished Joss, she might turn her attention to them, spelling certain death.
Even if they wanted to help, they wouldn’t know how; this battle was beyond human intervention.
Joss, hearing Laura’s words, remained calm and even smiled.
“So, you think you’ve got me cornered because your healing and endurance are stronger?”
Laura didn’t reply, slicing at Joss with her claws, but her meaning was clear.
Joss dodged, grinning. “You’re right, my stamina is nearly depleted.”
Though admitting his weakness, Joss’s expression radiated confidence, as if victory was his.
“Hmph!”
Laura snorted coldly, preparing to attack again, but Joss suddenly pointed at her and shouted,
“So what if my stamina is gone? How much of your clothing is left?”
That soul-piercing roar made everyone present realize something they had long overlooked.
Laura’s healing was powerful, yes—but could it restore her clothes? No.
So Joss demonstrated his skill at tearing bikinis, reducing Laura’s outfit to mere scraps.
“Eeaaahhh!!!!” Laura’s scream echoed through the ruins.
If you’re not afraid, keep fighting! If you dare, keep going! Uncle Wolf can fight bare, so why can’t you?
“Ha! Still too young.” Joss stood with hands behind his back, looking down at Laura like a master, indifferent to the trio’s shocked, perverse stares.
Thus, Laura did not lose to Joss’s power, but to his shamelessness—a truly tragic tale.
...
“So you were brought here by the military, but got caught up in a battle between American forces and terrorists, giving you the chance to escape?”
After “defeating” Laura, Joss and his group finally had a conversation with her, allowing him to piece together her story.
Though the base researching the “Weapon X” program wasn’t the same as Joss’s current affiliation, their superiors wanted to use this opportunity to test X-23’s combat abilities.
Whether by coincidence or sabotage, Laura’s unit got swept up in a major battle.
Despite her innocent appearance, her true age was considerable, granting her the wisdom to judge the situation.
Even Logan is over a hundred years old; Laura, born from the Weapon X project that ran alongside Captain America’s era, might even be older than Steve.
So, though the battle ended in American victory, Laura used the chaos to escape.
Afterward, she disguised herself as a refugee girl, drifting from battlefield to battlefield.
She couldn’t return to American-occupied territory, nor could she risk her life for terrorists, so her only option was to wander as she did now.
