“Oh, Cheng, you really shouldn't stay here any longer. Go back and take care of yourself first. Look at you—how many days has it been since you slept, ate, or even cleaned up? What if, when Sister Leng wakes up, you collapse? What would you do then?” Shen Dongling tried to persuade Cheng Yunting at her side, puzzled by just how miserable Cheng Yunting looked.

Cheng Yunting shook his head, remaining beside Leng Zheng, silently watching her, unmoving as if he were carved from stone.

“Cheng, keeping vigil like this isn’t going to help Leng Zheng wake up. Even if she does, you'll be the one to fall apart, and then she'll start worrying about you. Isn't that just making things worse? Why not go rest, so when she wakes up, she won’t have to worry about you anymore?” Shen Dongling continued his persuasion; after all, he couldn’t let Cheng Yunting sit here forever.

“Alright, I understand.” Cheng Yunting nodded and stood up. But as soon as he did, he nearly collapsed. Fortunately, Shen Dongling was quick and caught him.

“There’s a bathroom here. Go take a shower, then get an IV of glucose—so you don’t fall over again,” Shen Dongling signaled to the “little nurse” nearby, who immediately understood and hurried out.

“Alright.”

“Here, Cheng, let me get you a bottle of glucose.” Shen Dongling hung the prepared drip for him.

Cheng Yunting nodded, but halfway through, he suddenly felt something was wrong—why was he so sleepy?

“Shen Dongling! What did you put in this?” Cheng Yunting demanded.

“Huh? Oh, nothing much, just a little anesthetic powder that Zheng developed,” Shen Dongling replied with innocent eyes.

“You—!”

“Come on, Cheng, just rest for a while. Your wife isn’t going anywhere,” Shen Dongling said. “Take your time and relax!”

He slipped out of the room and flashed a satisfied “OK” sign to Qin Xiaonan.

(Hehe, let me guess what you’re thinking—are you assuming these two are enemy agents in disguise? No, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but you guessed wrong~)

“Do you think Cheng will come after me when he wakes up?” Shen Dongling sat on the sofa in Leng Zheng’s office, sipping tea.

“Him? He’ll even bother with you? I’d bet the first thing he does is check on his wife, not deal with you,” Qin Xiaonan replied casually, drinking his tea.

“Now that I think about it, you’re right. He’s been a ‘watching-stone’ for three days now—taking care of Sister Leng and staring at her, not caring about anything else,” Shen Dongling nodded, feeling it made perfect sense. “If we hadn’t slipped some of Leng Zheng’s anesthetic into his glucose, we really couldn’t have managed him.”

“Stop calling her Sister Leng—she’s my sister, not yours,” Qin Xiaonan said with disdain. “And I don’t have a brother like you.”

“Oh, come on, we’re brothers! Your sister is my sister too~” Shen Dongling tried to curry favor, moving closer.

“Not anymore,” Qin Xiaonan shrugged, indifferent.

“Oh, boss, I was wrong~”

PS: I don’t really know what to say about this book. All I can reveal is that it won’t be too heartbreaking—maybe just enough for a few tears.

A story of mutual salvation. Leng Zheng’s past will be revealed in the next couple of days, and then she’ll wake up and discover her amnesia the day after. That’s about all I can disclose for now.

Alright, see you tomorrow~
