Chapter 116: Let’s Compare
Jiang Yingying and Shen Xiaoqing exchanged strange looks as they watched Qin Tian. If he had brought a woman home, they might have been upset but could understand. But Qin Tian, damn it, had brought a man home!
“Xiao Bo is going to stay at our place for a few days, is that okay?” Since the house belonged to Jiang Yingying and the others, Qin Tian still needed to ask for their opinion.
“Then you’d better tidy up the room next door yourself,” Jiang Yingying said.
Neither Jiang Yingying nor Shen Xiaoqing were petty; although they were a bit displeased, having an unfamiliar man around would naturally cause some inconvenience.
“Thank you, sisters-in-law,” Tang Bo quickly replied with a sweet smile.
Both Jiang Yingying and Shen Xiaoqing were stunned for a moment, then Jiang Yingying scowled, “What nonsense are you talking about!”
“Your sister-in-law!” Shen Xiaoqing grabbed a cushion from the sofa and hurled it at Tang Bo.
Tang Bo looked utterly baffled, while Qin Tian hurriedly pulled him upstairs to clean up the room, tail between his legs.
“Brother Tian, I can tell Jiang Yingying definitely likes you. Shen Xiaoqing hasn’t fully admitted it yet, but there’s a hint of admiration in her eyes for you,” Tang Bo said as he tidied up.
“Brother Tian! Not bad! Try to win over both of them!” he added with a grin.
“Here.” Qin Tian handed him a drink.
“Thanks, Brother Tian!” Tang Bo happily took a sip.
“It’s expired,” Qin Tian said coolly.
Tang Bo immediately spat it out, though he had already drunk nearly half the bottle, looking at Qin Tian with a face full of grievance. “Brother Tian, what are you doing?”
“You can eat anything carelessly, but don’t speak recklessly,” Qin Tian shrugged.
“I’m not talking nonsense. I have a girlfriend too—I’m an experienced man! Jiang Yingying and Shen Xiaoqing definitely like you!” Tang Bo insisted.
“You? You have a girlfriend?” Qin Tian was surprised.
“Brother Tian, you’re underestimating my charm! She was the one chasing me in the first place!” Tang Bo said proudly.
Qin Tian twitched at the corner of his mouth. Love these days was truly unpredictable. Tang Bo, this short, chubby type, and yet a woman pursued him? What must she look like? It wasn’t that Qin Tian was biased, but he just couldn’t believe most women would be attracted to someone like Tang Bo.
Could it be that the woman found Tang Bo cute?
“She’s really nice. I’ll bring her out to meet you someday,” Tang Bo said with a smile.
Qin Tian nodded and continued tidying the room.
The next day, the four of them went to their classes separately. Tang Bo was a freshman and didn’t travel the same route as Qin Tian, Jiang Yingying, and Shen Xiaoqing, so they parted ways midway.
That morning, Qin Tian’s class was Physical Education, a large class combined from two sections of the same department—nearly one hundred and fifty students lined up, creating quite a spectacle.
“I’m your new coach Jason. You can call me Bald Jason!” Jason slapped his shiny bald head and raised his voice.
“Coach? You’re a fitness coach who switched to teaching PE, right?” a student couldn’t help but ask.
Laughter erupted immediately.
This PE teacher’s physique resembled those fitness trainers, all muscle and lumps.
“Yeah, you’re right,” Jason nodded calmly, seemingly unaware of the teasing tone.
“Today, we’re doing pentathlon!” Jason announced.
“Pentathlon?”
“What?”
Many students were shocked—they actually had to do a pentathlon!
The pentathlon included: long jump, discus throw, javelin throw, running, and wrestling.
Long jump and running were understandable, but discus, javelin, and wrestling seemed a bit extreme.
“Don’t worry, it’s not that kind of pentathlon.”
“My pentathlon includes 100 meters, shot put, standing long jump, 800 and 1,000 meters, and high jump,” Jason explained.
“800 and 1,000 meters? Coach, no need for that. They only test that during the final exams,” a student complained.
“If you don’t want to play, just leave and go get a withdrawal form from the administration,” Jason said expressionlessly.
The class immediately fell silent. The new PE teacher seemed tough.
“Yingying, if you can’t keep running later, I’ll carry you,” Shangguan Xiaocong smiled and approached, showing off in front of Jiang Yingying.
“No need,” Jiang Yingying shook her head to refuse.
Qin Tian stepped aside to stand between them. Shangguan Xiaocong was like a persistent fly hovering around Jiang Yingying, which Qin Tian disliked.
Shangguan Xiaocong frowned slightly on seeing Qin Tian, who always stood like a guardian beside Jiang Yingying, which annoyed him.
A spark of rivalry flashed in their eyes as they stared at each other.
“Wanna compete?” Shangguan Xiaocong asked.
“Compete in what?” Qin Tian replied.
“Whoever scores higher out of five hundred points total gets the right to pursue Jiang Yingying,” Shangguan Xiaocong said.
Qin Tian doubted Shangguan Xiaocong’s wisdom. What era was this? Still playing such childish games!
“This is just like something out of an idol drama,” he thought.
“Fine.” To get rid of this annoying fly, Qin Tian didn’t mind agreeing.
“Good! Let’s start with the 1,000 meters. Dare?” Shangguan Xiaocong challenged.
“Whatever,” Qin Tian shrugged indifferently.
With his unparalleled martial arts skills, this little PE test was no challenge.
Qin Tian warmed up his neck, wrists, and ankles. It was essential to warm up before intense exercise to avoid injury.
Shangguan Xiaocong looked disdainfully at Qin Tian’s “showy” act.
“Here goes Shangguan Xiaocong again, provoking the new guy,” a man and woman watched from the rooftop of the academic building, the man speaking calmly.
“Who do you think will win?” Xiang Chuchu asked.
“I bet on the new guy,” Cao Azheng answered.
“The Shangguan family is a strong medical lineage. Will they lose to a newcomer?” Xiang Chuchu was surprised by Cao Azheng’s response.
“That new guy is no ordinary talent. Gong Miaomiao even suffered a bit of a setback at his hands,” Cao Azheng said.
“Oh?” Xiang Chuchu pondered.
Cao Azheng was the student council president of Pinde University, universally recognized as the most handsome guy on campus.
Xiang Chuchu was a scion of the prestigious Xiang family with a profound background.
At Jason’s signal, those running the 800 and 1,000 meters started.
Shangguan Xiaocong charged forward like a wild horse, taking the lead and frequently glancing back at Qin Tian with a challenging look.
Qin Tian smiled nonchalantly. The faster he charged ahead, the more exhausted he would become later.
By the first lap, Qin Tian was at the back; by the second lap, he had moved to the middle; by the third lap, he had surged into the top three.
With a hundred meters to go, Qin Tian, seeing Shangguan Xiaocong gasping for breath, passed him and even patted his shoulder comfortingly.
“Little brother, you must have a lot of questions, huh? You ran too fast at the start,” Qin Tian said with a smile.
Shangguan Xiaocong, panting heavily, tried to say something but felt like the words were stuck in his throat.
He watched helplessly as Qin Tian crossed the finish line first and, in the last fifty meters, saw one after another runner pass him by.
