Chapter 124: Meeting an Old Acquaintance in a Foreign Land
"You stud! A real stud! Brother Stud, are you that starved? Taking advantage of our absence to sneak in a call girl? And you even got down to business right in the kitchen!" Shen Xiaoqing exclaimed, her eyes wide with shock.
Beside her, Jiang Yingying's jaw nearly hit the floor. So, this was the kind of person Qin Tian really was!
"Damn it, what are you two thinking? Run! She’s an assassin!" Qin Tian was speechless, wishing he could flick them both on the forehead, but he was neither free to move nor able to break away.
"An assassin!" Jiang Yingying gasped. Looking at Hu Xian'er’s face, she felt a vague sense of recognition.
"It’s the female assassin from the Youth Theater!" After studying her for a moment, Jiang Yingying shrieked, finally recalling where she had seen her.
"Since you know, why aren't you running yet?"
Qin Tian was once again at a loss for words. How could these two girls be so dense? It was lucky the assassin seemed to be after him; if she had been targeting these two little idiots, they would have been reporting to the King of Hell long ago!
Jiang Yingying grabbed the still-stunned Shen Xiaoqing and dragged her upstairs.
Qin Tian was speechless for the third time. Couldn't they run outside? Why were they running deeper into the house?
If the assassin managed to kill him, wouldn't these two be doomed as well? Where could they possibly run inside the house?
"Your two little girlfriends don't seem very bright," Hu Xian'er chuckled.
"Don't get distracted during a fight. Did no one ever teach you that?"
As Qin Tian finished his sentence, a loud bang echoed through the room—Hu Xian'er’s face had been met squarely by a frying pan. Qin Tian had grabbed it at some point, seizing the opportunity to send her reeling in a daze.
Qin Tian pushed her aside and quickly stood up. He looked at the frying pan in his hand and suddenly thought it was a divine weapon. He wondered if he should buy a truckload of them to keep at home. He estimated that at his current rate of being assassinated, a truckload would barely last him a year.
Hu Xian'er clutched her face, letting out a miserable wail. When she finally moved her hands, Qin Tian nearly choked on his breakfast.
"Is that plastic surgery?" Qin Tian asked, craning his neck, his mouth twitching.
Hu Xian'er’s nose and mouth were completely crooked, her eyebrows were bent like earthworms, and a chunk of flesh on her left cheek had gone slack. It was hideous.
"I’m going to kill you!" Hu Xian'er roared in a rage, lunging at Qin Tian.
She had completely lost her previous "grace" and rationality, behaving like an unreasonable shrew whose sore spot had been poked. Indeed, Hu Xian'er’s face was entirely surgical, and even her body had undergone multiple procedures. If Qin Tian had seen her old photos, he might have been tempted to run headfirst into a wall—how could he have let such a hideous woman mount him?
The irrational Hu Xian'er was easy to handle. With a single move, Qin Tian knocked her to the ground. He tore off a nearby apron, shredded it into strips, and tied her up securely.
Looking at Hu Xian'er, bound tightly in the corner of the kitchen, Qin Tian dusted off his hands. Another assassin down—the sense of accomplishment was something no one else could understand.
Qin Tian went to the sofa to retrieve his phone and dialed Nangong Xiao'e.
"Xiao'e, time to clean up!" he said, recalling a classic movie line.
"What?" Nangong Xiao'e didn't catch the reference.
"I caught another assassin. Come handle it," Qin Tian said, simplifying his request.
"Another one?" Nangong Xiao'e paused, falling into a long silence on the other end. "Brother Qin Lei, have you poked a hornet's nest of assassins?"
"Who knows what kind of bad luck I've had? These assassins have nothing better to do than pick fights with me every day. Isn't that just asking for a beating?" Having caught three in a row, Qin Tian’s confidence was through the roof.
"Brother Qin Lei, don't be careless. I feel like something massive has its eyes on you," Nangong Xiao'e said, her tone serious.
"Any leads?" Qin Tian was surprised. Had she gotten something out of the previous two assassins?
"A little, but I'm still investigating. No matter how many resources I mobilize, I can't get to the bottom of it. That means the people behind this have significant backing," she replied.
"Why target me? Did you find out the reason?"
"They don't know either. Only the person behind this knows," she said.
"Fine." Qin Tian nodded. It seemed this mystery wouldn't be solved until his appointment with Old Man Kong at Mount Tai in six months. The old man must know something, but for some special reason, he hadn't told him yet.
"In any case, Brother Qin Lei, be careful."
"Don't worry! I'm not afraid!"
"They've sent so many waves of assassins to kill me, and haven't they all ended up defeated and empty-handed? If they dare to send more, I’ll catch every single one! I'm going to make the person behind this lose their entire fortune!" Qin Tian laughed.
The next day, Nangong Xiao'e sent people to retrieve Hu Xian'er.
"What kind of taste is this? Sending such an ugly assassin? Are they trying to scare people to death with her looks?" The person in charge glanced at the crooked-faced Hu Xian'er and felt a wave of nausea.
"What the hell did you say? You dare call me ugly? I'll kill you!" Hu Xian'er shrieked in agitation.
"Noisy!" The person in charge, a beautiful but ruthless woman, stepped forward and delivered a sharp chop to Hu Xian'er’s neck, knocking her unconscious.
"Let's go." The woman heaved Hu Xian'er into the car, jumped into the driver's seat, waved at Qin Tian through the window, and sped away with a roar of the engine.
With Hu Xian'er gone, Qin Tian went to class as usual with Jiang Yingying and Shen Xiaoqing. Tang Bo remained in his room, dazed, and it was unclear when he would recover.
"How are you walking? Don't you see we're moving things here? Now it's broken, and the client is going to make me pay for it. What are you going to do about this?"
As the three of them walked out of the residential complex, they heard a dispute ahead. It was only a little past eight, so the complex wasn't very crowded. Those who exercised early were already home, and those heading to work were likely stuck in traffic. Thus, the argument didn't draw much of a crowd.
Seeing there was still time, Qin Tian pulled the two girls over to take a look. Everyone had a bit of a voyeuristic streak; humans were just that kind of creature—drawn to where the action was.
"It's them!" As they got closer, Qin Tian recognized the faces.
"It's that elderly couple!" Jiang Yingying and Shen Xiaoqing were also surprised.
These were the owners of the hotpot restaurant where the three of them—along with Wang Shoucheng—had eaten while Jiang Tianxiang was hospitalized!
