“What are you doing?” A startled, reproachful cry came from the doorway.

Qin Tian glanced over and saw it was a young nurse.

“I’m checking the patient’s wounds,” Qin Tian replied truthfully.

“You? Are you a doctor?” The young nurse frowned.

“Don’t move! If you keep this up, I’ll call the police and have you taken away!” As Qin Tian stood up, the nurse took a step back and threatened them.

“I’m really checking on him. He’s my uncle,” Qin Tian said, exasperated.

“Director Zhou! You’re just in time—there are two suspicious people here, and they’ve cut the patient’s bandages!” The nurse hurriedly reported to the doctor who had just entered.

“Who are you? Get out, now! Exposing the patient’s wounds like this—don’t you know he could get infected?” Director Zhou Yuming said angrily.

“Director Zhou, we’re here to treat Uncle Jiang,” Shen Xiaoqing explained.

“Xiaoqing, you brought him here? Get him out! Don’t let him interfere!” Zhou Yuming scolded her.

“Director Zhou, Qin Tian really is here to help Uncle Jiang!” Shen Xiaoqing defended him.

“Him? That young brat probably doesn’t even know how many bones are in the human body!” Zhou Yuming sneered.

“Barring special cases, there are two hundred and six bones,” Qin Tian replied calmly.

How dare he look down on him? Not only did Qin Tian know how many bones were in the human body, he could also tell you the exact number in cats, dogs, wolves, tigers—he knew them all by heart!

Cats and dogs, generally speaking, have two hundred and thirty bones, excluding certain special breeds of pet dogs.

“Fine, you know a thing or two, but that doesn’t make you a miracle doctor. Get out,” Zhou Yuming was briefly taken aback, but quickly dismissed the significance of such knowledge.

“Uncle Jiang’s legs don’t have to be amputated. I don’t want your mistake to doom him to a lifetime of pain!” Qin Tian declared.

“What did you say? Our mistake?”

“The decision to amputate was made after the expert committee spent an entire afternoon deliberating—it’s the best course of action. Yet you call it a mistake?”

“Stop fear-mongering! Get out, or I’ll call security!” Zhou Yuming’s face was livid; having his work dismissed like this was infuriating, especially by a nobody like Qin Tian.

“I’m not leaving! Today, I will heal Uncle Jiang!” Qin Tian narrowed his eyes, staring Zhou Yuming down.

“His legs have already been reduced to pulp! The bones are shattered and mixed with flesh and blood. You say you can heal him?”

“Hahaha! Unless you’re a god!” Zhou Yuming laughed as if he’d heard the funniest joke in the world.

“Get out, now! I won’t waste any more time—we have to prep for surgery,” Zhou Yuming said coldly.

“Xiaoqing, do you trust me?” Qin Tian looked at Shen Xiaoqing.

“Of course I do!” She was momentarily stunned, unsure why he’d ask.

“Then run over and lock the door!” Qin Tian whispered.

“Got it!” Shen Xiaoqing flashed him a smile. While Zhou Yuming and the nurse were distracted, she dashed to the door, slammed it shut, and locked it behind her.

Bang!

The loud noise startled Zhou Yuming. When he realized what happened, he flew into a rage, shouting for security.

“What are you going to do?” Shen Xiaoqing asked.

“First, I’ll remove all the bone fragments,” Qin Tian said, pulling on a pair of gloves.

A nearby cart held a full set of surgical tools—perfect for his needs.

Qin Tian began to carefully search through the mangled flesh that barely resembled a thigh, feeling for the shattered pieces of bone.

Clink... Clink... Clink...

One by one, Qin Tian fished out small bone fragments, placing them in a tray. The process was painstaking and slow.

Bang!

Suddenly, there was a loud kick at the door.

“You inside! Come out at once! We’ve called the police!” a security guard shouted from outside.

“What do we do?” Shen Xiaoqing asked.

“Ignore them,” Qin Tian said, shaking his head, paying no heed to the threats.

“Director Zhou, what now?” The guard outside, getting no response, turned to Zhou Yuming.

“The police should be here any minute. Wait for them to break down the door,” Zhou Yuming replied.

“That reckless brat! He’ll get what’s coming to him! Practicing medicine without a license—he’ll do years for this! And if he kills someone, he’ll never get out!” Zhou Yuming’s face twisted with anger. Being tricked by Qin Tian only fueled his resentment.

“How’s it going? Are you almost done?” Shen Xiaoqing looked at the time—half an hour had passed. She was worried they wouldn’t finish before those outside broke in.

“Don’t worry, I’m almost done,” Qin Tian replied.

By now, the tray was piled with bone fragments. Qin Tian had nearly cleared out all the shattered pieces from the leg.

Shen Xiaoqing couldn’t understand what Qin Tian hoped to achieve. What was he planning?

“It’s done!” At last, Qin Tian removed his gloves, clapping his hands—every fragment had been extracted.

“What now?” Shen Xiaoqing asked.

“Now comes the moment of miracles,” Qin Tian said with a faint smile.

Old Kong, the contents of that “Book of One” you gave me had better work. If not, I’m in real trouble today!

Qin Tian prayed silently.

There was a technique in the “Book of One” that could regenerate flesh, though not bone. But that was enough—once Jiang Tianxiang’s legs were restored, artificial bones could be implanted later.

Qin Tian took a deep breath, centering himself. He fixed his gaze on Jiang Tianxiang’s mangled thighs.

“Flesh Regeneration!” Qin Tian narrowed his eyes, inhaled deeply, and pressed his hands to the patient’s upper thighs.

From his chest, the “Book of One” grew warm, sending a gentle current through his body, flowing into his hands and then into Jiang Tianxiang’s wounds.

No response? Qin Tian frowned—nothing was happening. Had he failed? Was his skill lacking, or had he made a mistake?

Bang!

At that moment, the locked door was kicked open. Several police officers stormed in.

“Officers, that’s him! Practicing medicine without a license—endangering lives!” Zhou Yuming pointed at Qin Tian.

“Deputy Chief Zheng?” Qin Tian was surprised to recognize a familiar face.

Zheng Zhichao, following behind the officers, was equally shocked to see Qin Tian—the look on his face was a complex mix of surprise and disbelief.

“You again?” Zheng Zhichao sighed, exasperated.
