"Why is it you again?" Every time Zheng Zhichao saw Qin Tian now, he felt his luck sour. After returning earlier, he had been fiercely scolded by Zhao Zhongyi, and it was almost certain he’d lost any chance of succeeding Zhao as bureau chief. And now, only a few hours had passed, and this harbinger of misfortune, Qin Tian, appeared before him once more!

"Yes, it’s me again. Deputy Director Zheng, would you mind explaining things to them?" Qin Tian said.

"Explain what?" Of course Zheng Zhichao knew what Qin Tian wanted: for him to vouch for his ability to heal and save lives. But having been bested by Qin Tian before, Zheng harbored resentment. He decided not to help Qin Tian, and even to make things awkward for him.

"It seems Deputy Director Zheng hasn’t learned his lesson," Qin Tian said with a frown, instantly seeing through Zheng Zhichao’s feigned ignorance.

Zheng shrugged and took a step back, signaling his intent to stay out of this matter.

Although Zhou Yuming found it strange that Qin Tian and Zheng Zhichao knew each other, observing their interaction made it clear they didn’t get along. Since that was the case, there was no need for him to show any respect to Qin Tian. Otherwise, he would have had to defer to Zheng Zhichao.

"Officer, hurry up and arrest this guy! Look at what he’s done to the patient," Zhou Yuming said, gesturing at the mangled, bloody legs.

"Hands on your head, don’t move!" The police shouted at Qin Tian.

"I know Captain Lin, we’re all on the same side," Qin Tian said helplessly, trying to leverage a connection; it was a critical moment, and he had to see the treatment through. Perhaps he’d made a mistake earlier, which was why it hadn’t taken effect—he needed to try again.

"Don’t try to fool us! Practicing medicine without a license is illegal, and no amount of name-dropping will help you," the officer said coldly.

They detested people like Qin Tian the most—those who thought they were above the law because they had connections, using those connections to throw their weight around.

"I have a license! I just haven’t received it yet," Qin Tian protested.

"A license? We have a system here. Tell us your registration number and I’ll check right now to see if you’re a registered medical professional," Zhou Yuming said with a sneer, clearly not believing Qin Tian was a licensed doctor.

"Uh..." Qin Tian scratched his head. Registration number? How could he possibly know that? His license was being handled by Sun Simin, and only a few hours ago Sun had promised to take care of it—how could it be ready so soon? And even if it was, the license wasn’t in his possession; how would he know the number?

"You can’t say, can you? Still pretending! Practicing medicine without a license and making excuses! Officer, take him away, we must get the patient into surgery immediately!" Zhou Yuming glanced at Jiang Tianxiang on the hospital bed; his injured leg had been exposed to the air for so long that infection was likely. Amputation was urgently needed.

"Wait! Let me make a call!" With no other option, Qin Tian braced himself and called Sun Simin, hoping against hope that perhaps the license had already been processed. Even if it hadn’t, he could hand the phone over and let Sun Simin set things straight—surely that would resolve the issue.

"Fine! Let’s see who you call," Zhou Yuming said, watching Qin Tian with a mocking smile.

Qin Tian fumbled for Sun Simin’s business card, only to find it badly crumpled from his earlier struggle with the giant wolf. A digit on it was unclear—was it an 8, a 6, or a 0? With no choice, he tried each possibility.

The first time, using 8, he got a message that the number didn’t exist.

The second time, with 6, he heard a cold message that the number was out of service.

The third time, with 0, the call went through, but nobody answered before it was automatically disconnected.

How embarrassing! Either the call didn’t go through or no one picked up. Qin Tian was frustrated. Was Sun Simin playing him for a fool?

"Well? Still pretending?" Zhou Yuming laughed aloud.

Just then, Qin Tian’s phone rang. He answered immediately.

"Hello, who’s this?"

Sun Simin had been mixing medicine and couldn’t answer earlier; now, finished with his work, he returned the call.

"Is that Master Sun?" Qin Tian asked. He recognized the voice, but still wanted to be sure.

"Ah! It’s you, Master!" Sun Simin sounded excited, instantly recognizing Qin Tian.

"It’s me. I wanted to ask if my medical license is ready yet?" Qin Tian inquired.

"Why, is something wrong? It might be ready—Zhao Zhongyi was handling it. Not sure if he’s finished," Sun Simin replied, sounding puzzled.

"Is it possible to get it so quickly?" Qin Tian was taken aback.

"Zhao Zhongyi is an insider; he works efficiently, without all the red tape. If he took care of it right away, it would be ready in three hours," said Sun Simin.

"Master, did something happen?" Sun Simin had picked up on the underlying problem.

"I was treating a patient and got caught again—they say I’m practicing without a license," Qin Tian replied with a touch of resignation.

"What? Who’s detaining you? Put them on the phone, let me speak to them," Sun Simin volunteered, eager to help Qin Tian out of the crisis.

"Alright, I’ll let you talk to him," Qin Tian said, elated—this was the best outcome.

"Master Sun’s on the line. He can vouch for my credentials," Qin Tian said, handing the phone to Zhou Yuming.

"Master Sun? Do you mean Sun Simin? Don’t joke—how could you know Sun Simin? He’d vouch for you?" Zhou Yuming thought Qin Tian was still putting on a show, but took the phone anyway, determined to expose the lie.

Yet, as soon as he heard the voice, he was stunned—it really did sound like Sun Simin!

Zhou Yuming glanced at Qin Tian with a strange expression, nodding along to the person on the other end.

"Yes! Of course! Really? Yes, yes, yes!"

"Goodbye, Master Sun," he said, ending the call with deference. He hadn’t expected it to actually be Sun Simin!

"What’s your relationship with Master Sun?" Zhou Yuming returned the phone to Qin Tian.

During their conversation, Sun Simin’s praise for Qin Tian had been extraordinary.

"We’re both teacher and friend to each other," Qin Tian said.

Zhou Yuming drew a sharp breath. Someone who could be both student and friend to Sun Simin—this had to be a master!

"I’m sorry, I was too hasty earlier." Zhou Yuming took a deep breath. He was someone who could admit when he was wrong. Previously, he hadn’t recognized Qin Tian’s status and thought he was just an unlicensed country doctor, so he’d been harsh. But his intentions were good—it was all for the patient.

"It’s fine," Qin Tian replied, accepting the apology with a smile.

"Look, Qin Tian—quick!" Shen Xiaoqing suddenly cried out.

Qin Tian turned to look and was astonished to see a thick scab had formed over Jiang Tianxiang’s legs—and now, that scab was splitting open!

Qin Tian hurried over, broke open the scab, and revealed the smooth skin beneath.

Incredible! The flesh had truly regenerated. This was nothing short of a medical miracle.
