Chapter Forty: Aerospace-Grade Steel Plate (Fourth Update)
“This is simply miraculous! My legs were ground to a pulp, and yet I was reborn just like that!” After hearing Jiang Yingying’s account, Jiang Tianxiang still found it unbelievable. If this hadn’t happened to him personally, he never would have believed it!
“In the future, no matter what illness we get, as long as we have Master Qin, as long as we’re still breathing, she can bring us back!” Shen Xiaoqing joked.
Jiang Tianxiang laughed heartily, genuinely overjoyed. He was grateful for the dream he had that night, and even more grateful to himself for believing in it. Without Qin Tian, his life would have taken an entirely different path.
Jiang Tianxiang resolved that from now on, he would never again treat Qin Tian as merely an employee or subordinate. The debt he owed for saving his legs was simply too great—Qin Tian was truly his benefactor!
“By the way, with my condition, I can’t make it to the races next week. The rest of you will have to go, but you must be extremely cautious!” Jiang Tianxiang warned.
“No worries, with Qin Tian there, we’re sure to win!” Shen Xiaoqing declared.
“Don’t be careless! You’ll be dealing with some old foxes, and they have all kinds of tricks up their sleeves! Just look at this time—they even dared to come for my life!” Jiang Tianxiang reminded them sternly.
“Don’t worry, Dad, we’ll be careful,” Jiang Yingying assured him.
“Oh, I should give Captain Lin a call and ask about Tang Yiliu. If all went well, Tang Yiliu should already be behind bars,” Qin Tian said.
“That’s not certain. That old fox Tang Yiliu isn’t so easily caught,” Jiang Tianxiang replied. As an old rival, Jiang Tianxiang knew Tang Yiliu’s character all too well.
Qin Tian immediately dialed Lin Jian’s number.
“Hello, Qin Tian? What’s up?” Lin Jian seemed busy—the sound of papers shuffling came from his end.
“I wanted to ask about Mr. Jiang’s case. Has Tang Yiliu been arrested?” Qin Tian inquired.
“That? Don’t even mention it. There’s no evidence,” Lin Jian sighed, putting down his files.
“What? Didn’t the driver confess?” Qin Tian was incredulous.
“Confess? What confession? After you left, the driver recanted his statement!”
“Worse still, when you interrogated him, although there were cameras, the audio wasn’t turned on, so nothing he said was recorded!” Lin Jian explained.
“How could he suddenly change his story?” Qin Tian was speechless—Tang Yiliu had slipped through his grasp once again!
“By the way, we analyzed the giant wolf. It might come after you, so be careful!” Lin Jian warned.
“Come after me?” Qin Tian was taken aback. Why would it target him for no reason?
“Yes, I’ve already been attacked twice in the past few days! I’ve been staying at the police station and haven’t been home for days,” Lin Jian said.
“That beast is that aggressive?” Qin Tian frowned.
“Yes. We analyzed the fur samples, and our conclusion is that the giant wolf is most likely the result of artificial mutation!” Lin Jian said.
“Artificial mutation?” Qin Tian was stunned. That meant someone was deliberately creating such creatures!
How terrifying!
“That’s all I can tell you. The rest is classified—just be careful. Stay in crowded areas of the city and don’t wander into the countryside,” Lin Jian advised.
Qin Tian nodded and agreed before hanging up.
What a situation—he was actually being targeted by a beast!
“I told you, Tang Yiliu is a sly old fox. Be extremely careful at the races next month!” Jiang Tianxiang warned once more.
The next day, Jiang Tianxiang underwent a bone graft surgery. The operation went smoothly; the transplanted bone remained highly viable and had begun to fuse with his own. All that remained was a period of quiet recuperation.
That evening, Qin Tian planned to take the two women out for a good meal. After days of hospital food, they could use something better. With Jiang Tianxiang now out of danger, they could finally relax a little, as he himself had suggested.
As they left the hospital and Qin Tian was about to hail a taxi, a car suddenly sped toward them!
Qin Tian quickly pulled the two women behind him.
The car screeched to a stop before them. Qin Tian frowned—the car looked familiar. It was exactly like the one Lin Zhiyong had smashed!
Four men got out, one of whom was Lin Zhiyong. Of the other three, Qin Tian recognized one as a man he’d beaten up the other day, but the other two were strangers.
“Come to deliver my car?” Qin Tian asked, surprised at Lin Zhiyong’s efficiency.
“Deliver your car? I’ll deliver your mother!” spat a young man beside Lin Zhiyong before Lin could speak.
The young man had a scar running from his right eyebrow all the way to his right ear, his face exuding a vicious aura—clearly not someone to be trifled with.
Qin Tian frowned at his lack of manners.
“Smash it!” Scarface ordered with a wave of his hand. The other two pulled out hammers and began mercilessly bashing the car!
Qin Tian was momentarily stunned. What kind of performance was this? The car was clearly brand new—yet they were destroying it?
“Kid, let me tell you! I’d rather buy a new car and smash it to pieces than compensate you!” Scarface jabbed Qin Tian in the chest three times.
“Lin Zhiyong, what’s the meaning of this?” Qin Tian turned to him.
“That’s Snake, one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Bodhi Society,” Lin Zhiyong introduced.
“So, you brought him to stand up for you?” Qin Tian asked.
Lin Zhiyong just shrugged, neither confirming nor denying.
Qin Tian was furious. It seemed Lin Zhiyong never learned his lesson—still up to his old tricks!
“You’re sure you want to mess with me again? Aren’t you afraid you’ll end up as someone else’s bastard once more?” Qin Tian asked coolly.
Snake stepped sideways, blocking the space between Qin Tian and Lin Zhiyong. He jabbed a finger at Qin Tian and jeered, “Cut the crap! Do you want a one-on-one or a group fight? Pick for yourself!”
“How long have you been in this line of work?” Qin Tian asked.
“What’s it to you how long I’ve been around?” Snake retorted.
“Ever suffered a loss? Aren’t you afraid of kicking a steel plate?” Qin Tian continued.
“Steel plate? You think you’re a steel plate? You’re not even a fart!” Snake sneered.
“I’m sorry, it looks like dinner will have to wait a little,” Qin Tian turned to Jiang Yingying and Shen Xiaoqing, apologetic.
“Qin Tian, give them a good beating!” Shen Xiaoqing cheered, balling her fists excitedly.
In contrast, Jiang Yingying looked worried, afraid that Qin Tian might not be a match for Snake.
Qin Tian smiled at the two women, then faced Snake again. “Not only am I a steel plate, I’m aerospace-grade steel.”
