The assassin was on the verge of exploding with rage. He had actually been swindled.

He was an assassin. An assassin.

And an assassin had been conned. If word got out, how humiliating would that be? How many of his peers would laugh at him?

It was the same as hunting geese all day long, only to have a goose peck out his own eyes. A disgrace beyond words.

“You bastard, you tricked me!” the assassin roared.

“I didn’t trick you. My employer really said it like that. Why don’t you add a little more? If you do, I’ll leave,” Nangong Xiaoe said with utter seriousness.

“Believe your damned ghost!”

The assassin thought that if he gave her any more money, he would be a complete idiot.

“If you won’t pay, then I’m going to catch Qin Tian myself,” Nangong Xiaoe said.

“Threatening me? Fine, go catch one and let me see! If you could catch him, wouldn’t you have done it already?” the assassin sneered.

“Oh. Then just wait,” Nangong Xiaoe said lightly.

Suspicion flickered in the assassin’s eyes. After waiting a few minutes, he called toward the doorway, “Are you still there?”

No answer came back from Nangong Xiaoe. That only deepened his confusion. Had she really gone to catch Qin Tian?

Hastily, the assassin moved to the edge of the rooftop and peered through his scope toward the hospital. He searched again and again, but Qin Tian’s figure could no longer be found anywhere.

The assassin steadied himself and searched for several more minutes, especially the patch of grass where Qin Tian had hidden before, yet still there was no sign of him.

Where had Qin Tian gone? Why, to the entrance, of course.

More than ten minutes earlier, Nangong Xiaoe had called Qin Tian and told him to come at once, so by now Qin Tian was already at the doorway.

“What are we doing?” Qin Tian asked silently.

“There’s a fool inside. His money is absurdly easy to swindle. Just go along with me later,” Nangong Xiaoe replied in kind.

“That assassin?” Qin Tian blinked.

“Mm. Look.” Nangong Xiaoe showed him the notification of the money arrival on her phone.

“More than thirty million? Where did that come from?” Qin Tian’s eyes widened so suddenly he nearly cried out. It had just come in. Had Nangong Xiaoe taken another assassination contract?

“From that idiot assassin,” Nangong Xiaoe said.

Then she explained the whole chain of events to Qin Tian. After hearing it, Qin Tian was speechless. With that level of intelligence, he still dared to be an assassin?

An assassin who got swindled. That had to be a one-of-a-kind phenomenon.

“Brother Qin Lei, help me out later. Let’s scam him for another sum,” Nangong Xiaoe said.

Qin Tian nodded. There was no harm in cheating such a fool. If you didn’t fleece him, it would be a waste.

“Hey, the one outside, I’ve caught the person!” Nangong Xiaoe shouted through the door.

Still searching for Qin Tian through his scope, the assassin was startled by Nangong Xiaoe’s sudden voice.

Caught him? Nangong Xiaoe had actually caught him?

“How is that possible? You caught him?” the assassin exclaimed in disbelief.

“Yes! The man is in my hands now. How about it? Regret it yet?” Nangong Xiaoe snorted.

“Impossible! You’re trying to trick me again!” the assassin refused to believe it.

“Kid, yell once for me. Quickly!” Nangong Xiaoe called to Qin Tian, and at the same time gave him a wink.

Qin Tian smiled, then began his performance.

“Who are you people, and why are you抓—I mean, why are you taking me?” he shouted in feigned panic.

“Do you have any idea who you offended yourself?” Nangong Xiaoe smacked her palm sharply to mimic the sound of a slap.

“Brother Qin Lei, you have to cry out!” Nangong Xiaoe hurriedly reminded him when Qin Tian failed to react.

After being slapped, he had to cry out in pain, of course.

“Ah! That hurts!” Qin Tian said at once.

Nangong Xiaoe covered her face. Qin Tian’s acting was painfully awkward.

Outside, the assassin also had three question marks floating over his head. Qin Tian’s reaction time was absurdly long. Only after so long from the slap did he react?

“Is he really Qin Tian?” the assassin wavered.

“Of course! If you don’t believe me, I’ll let him show you his face!” Nangong Xiaoe said.

“Show his face? Is that really wise? What if he blows my head off with one shot?” Qin Tian said with deliberate concern.

“No problem. He won’t get the chance,” Nangong Xiaoe said.

“Fine! Then let him show his face. I want to see!” the assassin said, narrowing his eyes and staring fixedly at the doorway.

The door opened, and Qin Tian’s head poked out. The assassin’s gaze sharpened. It really was Qin Tian.

His eyes turned cold again, and he immediately drew his pistol, preparing to shoot Qin Tian dead. But Qin Tian had already withdrawn his head.

“All right, you’ve seen it. The man is in my hands, and I’m going to deliver the goods now. Another twenty million—beautiful,” Nangong Xiaoe’s smug voice floated out from behind the door.

“You have to hand him over to me!” the assassin shouted hurriedly.

“I caught him myself. Why should I give him to you?” Nangong Xiaoe asked.

“I already gave you twenty million before. You said you wouldn’t interfere in this!” the assassin roared.

“Yes, and you also said I wouldn’t interfere. I’m not killing Qin Tian. I’m just handing him over,” Nangong Xiaoe said indifferently.

“Bastard! I’ll give you another five million, and you hand him over to me!” the assassin said through gritted teeth.

He had already given Nangong Xiaoe more than thirty million. If Qin Tian was taken away by her now, then he would have thrown all that money away for nothing.

So he could only grit his teeth and keep paying, to get Qin Tian back.

“Five million? Why would I take that when handing Qin Tian over gets me twenty million?” Nangong Xiaoe said.

“You! Do you have any professional ethics at all?” the assassin snapped in fury.

“I remember that just now, it seemed to be you who told me I could go catch whoever I wanted. Now I’ve caught him. Why are you suddenly talking to me about professional ethics?” Nangong Xiaoe asked in bafflement.

“Fine! Twenty million!” the assassin said, reluctantly agreeing to her demand.

If he paid another twenty million to get Qin Tian back, his losses might at least be smaller. At this point, he could only keep walking down the path into darkness.

Soon after, Nangong Xiaoe’s phone received another notification: twenty million had arrived. She held the screen up in front of Qin Tian. Qin Tian’s eyes widened in shock.

They had really scammed another twenty million.

“This, this, this is huge!” Qin Tian laughed in utter disbelief.

Nangong Xiaoe grinned and laughed with him. In just a few hours, they had made a net profit of more than fifty million. This was faster than a money printer.

The assassin frowned slightly. Why had he heard Qin Tian laughing? Something was wrong.

His heart gave a hard thud. He had a bad feeling.

“The money’s been sent. Hurry up and give me the man!” the assassin said, his breathing turning a little ragged.

“Give you nothing!” Nangong Xiaoe shouted through the door.

The assassin took a deep breath. Even if he were an imbecile, by now he ought to understand. He had been tricked out of another twenty million.

He was so furious that his teeth nearly ground themselves to dust. How could he be this stupid? He wanted nothing more than to smash himself over the head.
