After Chu Renfang finished wiping Chu Xiao’s body, he called Wang Lulu and Wang Yan in to take care of him. He still had many matters to handle and could not stay there with Chu Xiao.
“Uncle Chu, don’t worry. I believe Chu Xiao will definitely wake up!”
Reluctant to leave, Chu Renfang finally walked out of the hospital room. He had not dared tell Qin Lihua, fearing she would be unable to control her emotions and would not be able to work properly. They could not abandon all of Jiuzhou for Chu Xiao’s sake.
After Chu Renfang left, Wang Lulu sat beside Chu Xiao’s bed and held his hand. Before she knew it, tears began to fall.
“Brother Xiao, you’ve been asleep for three days. Please wake up soon. Everyone is worried about you!”
As soon as Wang Lulu finished speaking, Chu Xiao’s finger moved slightly, as though he had heard her. Wang Lulu was overjoyed.
“Brother Xiao, you heard me, didn’t you? Wake up quickly!”
After Wang Lulu called out to him again and again, Chu Xiao finally opened his eyes a little. Seeing her eyes swollen and red from crying, he summoned all his strength to raise his hand and wipe away her tears.
“You silly girl. I was just too tired and slept a little longer than usual. Why are you crying?”
Although Wang Lulu was still crying, she was also smiling happily now that Chu Xiao had awakened. When the doctor heard the news, he hurried over to examine him.
After the examination, the doctor confirmed that Chu Xiao had passed the critical stage and was no longer in danger. However, he still needed plenty of rest to recover from his injuries.
Wang Lulu and Wang Yan could finally relax. Once she saw that Chu Xiao was safe, Wang Yan returned home. She was responsible for bringing meals for Wang Lulu and Chu Xiao, while Wang Lulu stayed at Chu Xiao’s side.
Although Wang Lulu did not like Wang Yan, she could not manage everything on her own, so for the time being, this was the only arrangement they could make.
After Wang Yan left, Chu Xiao looked at Wang Lulu. She had grown much thinner and more haggard over the past few days, which filled him with pain.
Chu Xiao wanted to sit up and embrace her, but even after exerting all his strength, he could not rise. A sharp pain shot through his shoulder.
“Don’t move around. The doctor told you to rest properly!”
Afraid that Chu Xiao would tear open his wounds, Wang Lulu stopped him from getting up. She then lay across his stomach, looking at his body covered in injuries with overwhelming heartache.
While Chu Xiao had been lying unconscious in bed, Wang Lulu had cared about nothing except seeing him wake up. She had not paid attention to his wounds. Now that he was awake and she saw him covered in scars, she burst into tears once again.
When the Underworld King learned that Chu Xiao had been injured, he realized that this was an excellent opportunity. Since Chu Xiao could not join the battle, he immediately organized his robot army and launched an attack on Jiuzhou.
Chu Xiao was lying in his hospital bed when he heard the alarms outside. He knew that the Underworld King had launched an attack on Pearl City. Unable to put his mind at ease, he tried to get up.

“Lie still. General Wang Tao is outside, so nothing will happen. Don’t worry!”
Wang Lulu saw through Chu Xiao’s thoughts and knew that he wanted to go help. But in his current condition, going there would be nothing more than throwing his life away.
Hearing Wang Lulu say this, Chu Xiao had no choice but to lie back down. He knew that Jiuzhou’s strength was now on par with the Underworld King’s, but for some reason, he still could not shake the unease in his heart.
Meanwhile, Wang Tao had already prepared to face the Underworld King. This time, the Underworld King had deployed nearly every robot in his forces to attack Pearl City. Wherever the robots passed, dust billowed like a tornado had just swept through.
Seeing this, Wang Tao ordered his men to bring out every weapon they had. This was destined to be a brutal battle.
“Foolish humans, I advise you not to put up a futile resistance. Lay down your weapons and surrender obediently. I may consider sparing your lives!”
The Underworld King had personally come to lead his troops, displaying an air of absolute confidence. Even so, he did not dare become too arrogant, since Jiuzhou’s strength was not to be underestimated.
“You want me to surrender? Before I do that, you should ask the soldiers behind me whether they agree!”
“We refuse! We refuse! We swear to defend Jiuzhou to the death! We swear to defend Jiuzhou to the death!”
The soldiers wished they could charge down immediately and tear the Underworld King apart. Every one of them knew that even if they surrendered, the Underworld King would never spare them.
Their only option now was to burn their boats and fight the Underworld King with everything they had. Even if they died in battle, they could never allow Jiuzhou to be disgraced.
Hummingbird and Firebird robots had long been circling overhead, while giant snake robots, robot hounds, and other machines waited on the ground.
“Attack!”
With that single word from the Underworld King, all the robots surged toward Wang Tao and his troops like a devastating flood of beasts.
“Let the Underworld King see what we’re capable of! Let Jiuzhou become its eternal nightmare!”
In an instant, flames soared into the sky. The robot army unleashed every weapon at its disposal, while Wang Tao’s forces deployed laser rifles, ray cannons, artillery cannons, Sunfire, and Solar Power.
The two sides fought fiercely for more than two hours. Wang Tao’s casualties were enormous, but the Underworld King’s forces had suffered no less.
Chu Xiao was lying in his hospital room when he heard the commotion outside. He asked Wang Lulu to help him out and see what was happening.
Wang Lulu tried repeatedly to persuade him not to get up, but in the end, she could not overcome his insistence. She brought over a wheelchair, helped Chu Xiao into it, and pushed him outside.
As soon as Chu Xiao left the room, he saw that the hospital was overwhelmed. The wards were filled with wounded soldiers, and beds were in extremely short supply. Some beds even held two lightly injured soldiers.

“How is the situation outside now?”
Chu Xiao anxiously questioned an injured soldier. The moment he saw the wounded filling the hospital, he had already realized that the situation outside was far from optimistic.
“Our casualties are indeed heavy, but the Underworld King’s forces aren’t doing any better.”
Chu Xiao immediately took out his phone and prepared to call Leader Number One to request reinforcements. The Underworld King had concentrated its forces on attacking Pearl City, and Chu Xiao was afraid that Wang Tao would not be able to hold out.
“Leader Number One, the Underworld King is attacking Pearl City with nearly its entire force. Please send reinforcements!”
“I already know. Don’t worry. Rest and recover in the hospital. The reinforcements are already on their way!”
Only after hanging up did Chu Xiao finally feel relieved. Then he saw that the corridor was filled with wounded soldiers and asked Wang Lulu to push him to the director’s office.
“Director, there are so many wounded soldiers that there aren’t enough beds. Give them my room. I’m much better now, and I can stay anywhere.”
Wang Lulu looked extremely unwilling, but she knew that once Chu Xiao made up his mind, there was no changing it—especially when he was thinking of the wounded soldiers.
“Major General Chu, how can we do that? We’ll find a way to deal with the wounded. Please don’t worry.”
“Then I can’t just stand by and watch our soldiers receive treatment in the corridors!”
In the end, the director decided to add several beds to Chu Xiao’s room and let the seriously wounded soldiers stay there first.
“Major General Chu, we’re fine. You don’t need to worry about us!”
When the soldiers heard that Chu Xiao had given up his own room so they could stay there, they were deeply grateful to him, but none of them wanted to take his place.
“Soldiers, you are the heroes of Jiuzhou. We’ll stay together!”
When the soldiers heard that they could share a room with Chu Xiao and listen to him recount his battle with the Underworld King, they all wanted to go. However, there were only so many beds, so in the end, only a few seriously wounded soldiers were allowed to move in.
